Sky is advertised again in the Countryman's Weekly magazine today. Always hoping that someone will recognise him and he can return home.

thanks visionvalue; the website now lists this dog as reunited with his owner; his chest is more stockily built than Sky's and face not quite right but thanks for trying to help; I guess they would have scanned him too and Sky is chipped; Sky's owners.

Thanks Liz but Sky was going grey around the face when he went lost so would be even more grey now. The found dog looks like a beauty, I hope he gets claimed.

I know this would be a great coincidence, but found dog 24549 looks very like this little fellow. Please check it out. Liz

Just checked these dogs out on the web site and they are bitches so unfortunately not Sky.

Thanks Thorrocks0. I'll check this out and let owner know.

Dogsfriends has 3 black labs found roaming on the hills in Wales, ferral and with skin conditions similar to yours. Not sure if boys or age of them, but don't believe they have a chip scanner. May be worth a call to Lyn on 01275 873859 or look on their website. The dogs are called 'The Wild Ones'! Know its a long way from you but these dogs seem to turn up in strange places.

I noticed this male black lab found in december, describes a 'skin ailment' and thought of Sky's scar. Not sure if you've seen it but thought I'd let you know just in case! http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/view_found_pet.php?id=11109  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for all the one-year-on thoughts and good wishes, everyone. We have had quite a strong lead this week from a reliable man who thought he recognised Sky's scar when he saw our recent newspaper advert. The location of the sighting on the NE outskirts of Leicester fits with 2 other reports in that area - one mentioned a scar (last Feb). All the latest news is on our blog. This week we are putting the word around dog walkers in the area, the park rangers, and the local dog warden. Tomorrow I will contact the 2 veterinary surgeries in the area to see if that prompts a memory (like us doctors, vets remember things like scars) and if they can put a poster in their waiting room for a couple of weeks (this was a successful strategy for getting the word around dog lovers in our own area of West Leicestershire). We're not giving up on you, Sky!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Reply to Possible sighting near coventry: I will keep my eyes open and ask around on my dog walks in Bedworth which is inbetween Nuneaton and Coventry. The canal runs through bedworth and is near to bedworths memorial park. Hope you get a better lead or more sightings Jnet  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jayne. I just spoke to Kate, who'd contacted Doglost. She described what she saw yesterday and it was off the A46 north of Leicester, near Thurcaston, and she didn't mention any vets - just said a friend had said "have you contacted doglost.co.uk". Might there have been 2 different sightings?? The dog was described as very nervous but played with their Weimeramer. She said it was possibly 2-3 years old and "stocky". This would be quite different from Sky, sadly. But the area is only 8 or so miles from us. For anyone else wanting any updates on Sky, we've had nothing since April but are keeping the blog up to date http://skyisstillmissing.blogspot.com Thanks for all your good wishes. Thanks Alfmar. Thank you to all for your continued support and messages. We can't believe that 4 months have gone by, but we miss Sky as much as ever and messages of support really do help. We still have good reason to believe he is living wild, and very timid, only 5 miles or so from here. We don't know the extent of his territory, and we don't seem to be able to attact him with food. It's very frustrating. We laid a trap but it got stolen. Phone calls are few and far between but at least when he's (if it is him) seen he looks healthy and always seems to be running, nose to the ground in typical labrador style. We've laid bits of cloth with our scent next to the food but it's only gone about 3 or 4 times (other than bits taken by foxes, mice or rats) so we've never been able to establish a pattern. Let's hope that with better weather he'll be more active, with farmers in the fields he may get sighted more often, and with time he may become bolder. Also a black lab against a green hedge is better than a dark brown hedge. We continue to pray our little boy will be home one day.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you for so many supportive comments. It is really helping us keep going. The webcam is now off line for a while. The equipment and trap was undamaged, but we think that maybe the local poachers don't want to be caught on camera, so we will keep a lower profile for a while. We will still keep monitoring the trap - with the help of people who live nearby. Will keep updating the blogsite at http://skyisstillmissing.blogspot.com with news. Thanks everyone from Ffion and Tim.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don’t want to excite anyone too much but the picture I’m getting from the webcam now is definitely different than when I saw it earlier this afternoon. It’s getting dark now so difficult to be sure but to me the trap is now shut with a shape of something dark in it?   Please Sky could it perhaps be you?   Everything crossed...please check, someone!

Another sighting plus message from owner about Sky's blog. Sue,

An update on the search for Sky:

We are having difficulty keeping everyone up to date so have started a
blog at http://skyisstillmissing.blogspot.com In retrospect we probably
should have done this earlier as it would have saved us a lot of phone
calls.

The Leicester Mercury did a great article about our search following the
press release - took up about a third of a page. The angle of "we want
to thank everyone, what a great response form the local community"
seemed to be an approach that they liked as it was a bit more than just
a 'lost dog' story.

After a two week gap another sighting of a black lab in the same area as
all the previous. The food also all went from one of our feeding
stations on the same afternoon (the first time that this has happened in
3 weeks). Having some of our dirty washing next to the food in the
kennel really seems to work in keeping the foxes away.

We have put a trap on a regular route that the black dog that we are
sighting uses (regular being about once a week!). This has a webcam on
it so we can keep it well observed (you can link for a live picture from
the blog!).

So fingers and toes crossed at the momentLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It looks like Sky is still around. Owner has had a number of sightings in an area about 2 miles from home. Unfortunately he is only being seen about every 5 or 6 days (last on Friday) and is running very scared of people. It is a very rural area so there are few people around to look out for
him. Local farmers and many of the local dog walkers are aware of him so just waiting for more sightings to come in. Owner is already putting scent and food down in the area and has constructed a couple of dens in the hope of getting him to stick around in one place but full scenting instructions have been sent to him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
