Amazing news well done everyone
Loulou
Knowing the area well where Binky went missing, I had a feeling he would have fallen between the rocks. I’m sure everyone is over the moon that he has been found, it’s beyond lucky that he was heard whimpering! A massive well done to all involved! Please now keep him safe! Bless his heart 💙 Last edited: 2020-10-21 00:40:38 by Loulou

COPIED
Incident 129 - Tuesday 20th October 2020 11:47hrs.

The duty team leader took an unusual call from the duty PDMRO controller......

Whilst at work, a mountain leader had come across a dog stuck in some rocks on Owler Tor. As he sat down with his group to have their packed lunches, one of them heard a quiet whimpering sound, and investigating found the dog stuck at the bottom of a rocky crevasse.

A small group of Edale MR Team members made their way to Surprise View Car Park. A local National trust ranger who is also a member of Woodhead MRT joined them. After speaking with the informant and understanding the exact location and "stuckness" of the dog, the team members made their way to the incident with equipment to lower one of our slim, small members into the hole. With some love and affection, the dog was gently lifted out from under the rocks, and taken back to the car park to meet its owner, who was over the moon to be reunited their four legged companion who had been missing since Saturday.

The team gets around 2 to 3 callouts per year for animal rescues. Today's was the first for 2020.

More info: a couple of people heard him whimpering while they were sitting to eat their sandwiches. He had fallen down a deep ravine. The strong winds prevented people from hearing him before. They called the police, who called the mountain rescue, who winched him to safety.Last edited: 2020-10-20 14:48:08 by Owl
