- My point exactly, furlover.
Unregistered pitbulls and pitbull types cannot be routinely registered but this can be applied for if it can be proven that the dog is not likelt to pose a danger to the public and the dog would have to be kept in police kennels during the process (but for a dog already in kennels, what difference would it make?). This poor girl is described as a having a lovely nature, though she didn't like men (not uncommon among ill-treated dogs).
However, registration, neutering, kennelling, etc costs and this is probably what these caring professionals aren't willing to fork out for.

- You poor thing this is so un-justified for you to end your living life in this way. Run free at the bridge and may you have many happy memories to come running free and away from the politics of this shocking country. Love with you always xXxXxXxXxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I am not an expert on breed types when pictures are shown of cross breeds. Is there an acceptable percentage of "pitbull" which wouldnt be resigned to compulsory euthanasia? or is it any percentage at all? If so, how can the experts be sure, as so often the cross breeds found in dog pounds are often wrongly described? If a dog was deemed to be a pit bull cross yorkshire terrier or labrador retriever would it still have to be euthanased? It's not long ago that German Shepherds/Rottweilers then Staffordshire Bull Terriers shared this tag. It's not the dog themselves, it's the morons who obtain them and try manipulate them into being aggressive who need euthanasing. I shall now step down from my biscuit tin !Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Poor Chocolate.
I remember this law being introduced and the attack that led to this kneejerk reaction (not to mention the ingratitude of the family of the child involved but that is another matter).
There is one thing that I don't understand about this case though. Pitbulls and pitbull types have to be registered, neutered and muzzled in public places, not put to sleep as a matter of course.

- Yes it is ridiculous psab.....everyone will agree I am sure. She was thought to be a Lab x Pit Bull, the person that id'd her has treated many Pit Bulls as pets in their country of birth and loves the breed but they had to make that call and subsequently the law had to be followed and poor Chocolate lost her life, despite views against it and the major flaws that exist in the so called law.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- How sad. Poor little girl. "Knowledgeable professional"? It may be the photo that's misleading but she looks no more a "pitbull type" (that ridiculous all-encompassing phrase thought up by politicians in haste, not veterinary professionals) than my Staff/Lab cross. RIP Chocolate. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- By the edge of a wood at the foot of a hill, Is a lush green meadow where time stands still ! Where friends of a man and woman do run when their time on earth is over and down, for here and between this world and the next is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land they wait and play till rainbow bridge they cross over one day ! No more do they suffer in pain or saddness for here they are whole their lives filled with gladdness, Their limbs are restored their health renewed their bodies have healed strength imbuled! They run through the grass without even a care , , untill one day they stop and sniff the air. All ears pricked forward eyes dart side to side and then all of a sudden one breaks from the pack... For just that instant their eyes have met together again person and pet, so they run to each other this friends from long past their time of their parting is over at last, The sadness they felt whilst apart has turned into joy once more in each heart, they embrace with a love that will last forever And side by side they cross over together x safe forever chocolate xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Unfortunately this lovely girl has been PTS today. She was id'd (by a knowledgeable professional) as being a Pit Bull cross so the dog warden had no choice but to have her PTS (no-one came forward to claim her). The poor dog was a lovely girl (despite being painfully thin and only having had pups about 4 weeks ago), although she hated men, but it was just a case of the 'breed not the deed' and the law. Both the dog warden and I are totally gutted and wish it was different and have shed many a tear over this dog. The dog warden concerned works very closely with Doglost and I can personally assure you did all she could for this dog and was with her till the end.......at least the dog saw some love in her life thanks to the DW and others involved since she was picked up. Run free at the bridge you beautiful girl. I pray whereever her young pups are that they are being well cared for and come to no harm although as upsetting as it is, given the facts here, I doubt they will have a great life ahead of them either. - Lovely little dog, VERY thin. Has recently had pups - probably about 4 weeks ago. The pups should obviously still be with their mum. Please if you think you know where this dog may have come from contact the number given. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
