YIPEEEEEEEE !! Jayne I  am so pleased that Ruby is home again ! It goes to show once again that owners need to persevere with postering which is what Rubys owners have done and now they have their beautiful Ruby home !! Many thanks to all who have text me and left voicemail messages whilst I am away from home to let me know Ruby is back. Its just a shame the finder didnt take Ruby to be checked for a chip or report having found her to the dog warden, vets or most importantly to the  the nearby local stray kennels who knew Ruby was missing and would also have scanned her. Well done to the finders friend for spotting the poster and taking the correct actions !! Welcome home Ruby and stay safe from now on xxx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Elated as I am that Ruby is home, I just feel I have to say this.... finder found Ruby the same day, is wanting a pup ,and providing contact details for beating ? All along owner had the feeling she was with someone related to the shoot? As I was also. Just, please think carefully .Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Absolutely fantastic news, welcome home Ruby.  Champagne will be popping in one household over the New Year.  Jumanji will also be very happy to see Ruby has been  REUNITED.   'THANK YOU' to the finder for looking after her.  It is the LAW that found dogs are reported to the DW etc.  Wishing everyone a Very Happy New Year.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So glad Ruby is home. What a lovely kind lady who found her, and returned her at once without even considering the reward, just goes to show that there are wonderful people out there!! It really does gladden your heart. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all, just a message to let everyone know that ruby is home and to thank everyone so much for the help! Ruby was picked up by a lady called jenny on the day she went missing near to hampole kennels, as it was close to the kennels jenny assumed that shed been abandoned and took her home to monk fryston where she has had the run on her 9 acres of land with her 4 dogs! Jennys friend saw one of out posters and alerted her of ruby so they rang us and brought her home today. I cant thanks them enough. She would not accept a reward but would like a puppy if ever we breed ruby. i will be very happy to honour this request. Also jenny has seen that ruby is keen to work and is going to give us someones details who can help us to train ruby at beating so that we can let her do what she does best and share the enjoyment with her. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We went over to both Oakenshaw and Springfield kennels and looked at all the dogs to make sure Ruby was not there. We also left posters of her with both kennels. xx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jayne there is a possiblity the dog sighted at Clayton could be the beagle you have been called about before when it was sighted in Great Houghton. The Beagle was sighted in Clayton at the beginning of the week. It is believed the Beagle has been dumped. Will speak with you later today xx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Furlover, im not sure what brodsworth hall has to do with it? we had a possible sighting there and have left a poster. I spoke to the man who organised the shoot yesterday, he said nobody took her to his knowledge. he is also in the area daily and going to keep an eye out. he then rang last night to say hed 'heard' of a sighting in clayton so tried to chase that up yest but nobody seems to know of the name he gave me. one of the beaters rang and said he saw her, and my dad but when my dad came looking for her she had run off. i suspect my dad panicked and didnt stay in the area long enough before going for help.

Forgot to add Brodsworth Hall is owned by English Heritage     www.englishheritage.org.uk  I doubt very much that they will provide a list of people attending the shoot due to Data Protection law but it wouldnt look good for them if they were unsupportive in trying to help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have found a few.  1) BASC is an organisation that may put an ad in.   www.basc.org.uk  2)   "Shooting Times " 3)  The Field Magazine   ...       www.thefield.co.uk and then   www.fieldsportsmagazine.com  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just another suggestion but can  the owners get an article in the magazines that cater for  the "field sports "   fraternity   ie Horse and Hound and the like.  I dont know them off by heart but certainly won't have a problem in getting a list together of ones to try and contact.  The people who attend the shoot pay for it .. and may not be from the area, so the more coverage  nationally - the better chance we have of getting this girl back to her owners.  Perhaps the Countryside Alliance may be willing to put something on their website too Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have put lots and lots of posters out over the last few days. the word is really spread now. Have also got people to pass them on to the land owners in the area. (its not toally clear, ive been told 2 names) have rang the game keeper for the land today and he said hed had a few phone calls about ruby which is good cause it means that when people are telling me they will try to find out they really are trying. he said hell make a call and try to find more info on the shoot so will keep u posted there. also the location that ruby was lost at is grid reference se492108. Oh and also i spoke to a guy today and he said his brother was the person who found the 2 springers that went missing at moorhouse approx 6 months ago (not sure if you heard about that) he is going to pass on our details incase he hears of anything. ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If owners can establish the  EXACT area/ land that the shoot was taking place  at the time ---I am more than happy to do the donkey work in trying to find out organiser details etc  but as I am not familiar with the area would need a firm basis to work with.  I will do all I can to help. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken with Rubys owners tonight and sadly there is still no news of her. Her owners wer called out to a sighting of a springer at Skellow today but unfortunately it was not Ruby. They caught the dog and took it to a local stray kennels. I will register what details I have of this dog on our found pages. It was not chipped. Furlover I do know Rubys owners have made enquiries about the shoot but you are quite right that it would be well worth while pursuing this still further. I do know they are concerned that someone at the shoot may have found and kept her. Wondered if  organisers of the shoot could be tracked down to see if anyone saw anything ( or if was straying at time of the shoot someone could have just picked her up )  Would probably need to contact the landowner firstly and ask them for the organisers details.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I spoke with Rubys owners tonight and sadly there is still no word of Ruby. They were called out to a sighting of a loose Springer Spaniel but unfortunately this was not Ruby. They caught the dog and took it to a local stray kennels. I will find more details out about this dog and register it on our found pages. I do know it was not chipped. Furlover I do know the owners have made some enquiries about the shoot but as you point out its certainly worth pursuing this further if possible. I know one concern for them is that someone at the shoot may have found her and taken her home with them. x PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for sending Ruby's photo in to us ! I am going to forward her details onto the owner of a recently reunited dog who has said she will check she is not in kennels local to her. Keep up with the postering and checking local pounds and hopefully we will have some news of Ruby. xx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rubys owners had a possible SIGHTING of her nr Brodsworth hall on Monday afternoon. At the time she went missing a shoot was just about to take place locally and it is wondered if anyone there may have picked her up if the springer  sighted at Brodsworth was not her. Owners have been postering and have contacted a local stray kennel and dog warden i have advised to also contact the other local stray kennels and neighbouring dog warden.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry Ruby is missing. Please make sure you have contacted both Barnsley and Wakefield dog wardens and also check with your local pounds on a daily basis even though she is microchipped as this sometimes gets missed. By law they only have to keep a dog for 7 days before rehoming or sending them onto a rescue and for this reason try and visit them in person to make sure she is not there. Jayne11, sorry to see Ruby is missing.  Thanks for registering on DL and adding her details, we will do all we can to help you in your search.  Can you please upload a photo or similar one, any problems email to admin@doglost.co.uk (include Ruby's ID No in heading).  You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible.  Posters can be printed by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information (you must be logged in). Contact DW's, rescues, vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Dogs can be rehomed after 7 days, try and visit rescues do not rely on phone calls alone.  Great Ruby is CHIPPED do ensure you contact the Chip Co and report her missing and details are up to date.  Please update us on who has been contacted i.e. DW's etc and if you have started postering.  You can leave a comment by selecting  Add a comment  just above Comments.  Good luck and hope she is found soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
