I am very sorry to post this but a dog was found dead in the canal in Droylsden. It looked very much like Teddy and I am trying to locate the owners as I feel I should. If you contact the RSPCA and ask about the dog that was found in the canal next to Copperas Field/Edge Lane they should be able to help you.

Just checked with the dog wardens they have a main centre that covers Manchesrer Oldham Rochdale etc, no dog picked up near there. Also tried Environmentla health again, Tameside were useless as they do not log dogs found on roads and can only check if you know the exact street? The highways  agency were very good and said any dog found (alive or dead) is checked for microchips and the owners contacted. Teddy not registered. Will go back to searching Rochdale area but a bit deflated by comments from E/Health but not giving up hope just yet. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Teddy's Mum you are doing a brilliant job in your search for Teddy.  Heva is away at the moment, if you look back at her posts, when you supplied the new photo she has confirmed it was definately Teddy.  On further posts Heva has said he was seen on the Motorway in the Rochdale area.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I went through to Dogs Trust Leeds  last Saturday as my mum is looking to rehome a rescue dog. ( In addition to visiting lots of other rescue centres over the 4 days she was with us)  Whilst speaking to Dogs Trust  I asked if could leave them some posters which they were really amenable to. I left  posters in of Teddy and others ---missing in the area. There were 3 dogs at Dogs Trust that had been rescued from the pound !!.... which I didnt know they did until then.    So after that, I would advise people who have lost theirs to just, at least, double check with Dogs Trust too. It certainly was news to me !!  But a pleasant one --maybe its just Leeds who do it but even so, there are still lots of people visiting the places  so can also keep an eye out for missing ones.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Teddy's Mum here, I am so grateful for everyones advice and comments, it really helps. I am glad that you have spokent ot Heva Jan as the h motorway patrol reported that a dog was on the motorway but left a junction 19 and was last seen on the roundabout, near Heaton park. I think junction 19 of the M60 .  We put posters in the local retail Park and also heaton park itself but as yet have had no response.  Ted's Dad thank for all you help too as I am not sure how close to Rochdale that is but I am sure heva said originally it was near Rochdale exit.  I think we will need to re check the exit and try to figure out if it could be round that area.  If you know the motorway at all it would be very helpful. Thanks Mog for your help too I will contact the Rochdale Dog rescue tomorrow. Thanks again everyone.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Teddy's Mum, this is Ted's Dad (Ted has been missing since last August and is Dog id 14726 on Doglost).  We live near Rochdale and know the Newhey/Milnrow area (we have searched the same area ourselves), so if we can help in any way, please let us know.  While we haven't found Ted yet, we have discovered that there are a lot of very helpful and caring people around, so there is always hope.  We have also contacted Rochdale Dog Rescue and found them to be extremely knowledgable and helpful.
I expect you have done all the things that we have done and there is little I can advise, but if you want to compare notes, please feel free to PM me at RDR, or contact through this forum.
I would reiterate what others have said, Teddy is a handsome and memorable dog, which will help all of us on the lookout for him.
Best of luck

Checked at the RSPCA Salford and the hospital but Teddy's i snot there either.  We have had a few other leads but again still not Teddy. Tried again yestrday a possible sighting in Droylsden but when we went no sign of a dog  a few people said they had seen one about but couldn't find one.  Gave out posters etc.  There was one from someone at Heaton Park  who suggested trying a specific street locally but we leafleted every house still no response. I am going to try uploading another picture as the sighting near Junction 19 is the nearest we have to an actual  sighting, but again still no luck.  Please check the new picture as the write up for the motorway described as cross coliie and teddy has quite short fur.  Please let me know if you still think it could be teddy. Thanks again to everyone fo still lookingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi there Teddy's mum again here.  The advert is in properly now and is good.  Meanwhile had a report of a dog in Clayton but it turned out to belong to someone else who were happy to see it, so at least that was good.  it was a cross alsation called frodo.  I have done another picture from my phone to give a better view of him, hope this will help.  Meanwhile had another report of another dog in Clayton being taken to a dogs home in Salford? Anyone know of an Animal Sanctury there as I can't seem to find it (at work so limited).  Please let me know if you do.   Thanks again to everyone.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have been in the area recently  and  am aware that there is a country parks not many miles away  from where Teddy went missing called Daisy Nook. It might  be worth posting around areas like this where dog walkers can be seen.Teddy is a handsome lad and noticable. Other dog people are more likely to notice a lone dog.  Stay with it.  RachelLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi there, Just to say that I have placed an advertisment in The Manchester Evening News (it was supposed to have a photo but didn't and gave no description or anything other than 'Lost Teddy' where lost and the phone number it looked like Teddy was a toy instead of a dog.  I was very dissapointed but have been assured that Tomorrow it will be corrected and will run 2 more nights to compensate.  I do hope so it reached a wider area than our local one. Be aware of the details and check when you put an ad in the papers.  Teddy's MumLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks again to everyone for your efforts to find Teddy.  My husband has been to The Manchester Dogs Home again  today but  still no luck.  He has also gone back to the Motorway (Junction 19 near Heaton park)where we think he may have been spotted to have another look and put up some more posters.  I've e-mailed all the Animal rescue centres in the North west that had an e-mail address last night and will check for responses tonight. Thanks Jan for all the info.  I will ring the others this week.  Teddy will also be in the Manchester Evening News Monday-Wednesday and again in the local Advertiser.  We have had several responses and have followed all the leads.  I have also stared putting small posters on car windscreens in the car parks in Ashton U Lyne near where we live.  I think we might try a Rochdale based paper next week, and more over that area in general. The Dog wardens say if he had been picked up in the Rochdale area he would still have been ataken to Manchester dogs home anyway. We have put up posters in the Dukinfield area too. Thanks again  for everyone's help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have you contacted Pike View Animal Rescue
Heaton Farm, Middleton, Manchester, M24 4RP
Tel: 07740 174 604 Pike View is not far from M60 J 19 and takes in stray dogs. I am near Heaton Park and walk my dogs there and have been looking out for Teddy. There are a few buildings in the park where Teddy could take shelter. Also went to Manchester Dogs Home a couple of times to check for you and pointed out your poster there to the kennel manager I know. There are so many staffy x's in there and several posters of other dogs so wanted her to be familiar with his appearance.

Teddys Mum
Hi there, Teddy's mum here.  First I would like to thank everyone for their help and support.  We've not yet found Teddy but have not given up hope.  Yesterday we had a phone call to say a dog had been spotted that looked like teddy in Dukinfield (manchester area)  my husband went to look straight away but could not find any stray dogs. We have put up posters all around the dukinfield area (bus stops, pubs, post boxes etc)  Today just as we were about to go to the Heaton Park area (near junction 19) where the previous sighting was, I had a telephone call saying a dog looking like teddy was taken from Hyde (Manchester) centre to an Animal Shelter in Hyde by 2 security guards.  I had previously had a phone call mid week saying a dog like teddy had been found in Hyde by 2 security guards.  I had telephoned but they thought it was a rottweiler.  I went today on this new information (as both people thought it was Teddy but the Animal Centre only take dogs in that have been brought in by their owners, although they said they do keep some overnight and they then go on to the dogs home in Manchester.  We had initially gone to the dogs home every day, but they said it was not necessary as Teddy is chipped and the dogs are kept in a pound for a week before being put up for re homing.  So we have been going twice a week.  We will go again tomorrow in case he was brought in from Hyde since our last visit. If he is still not there I intend to go back to the Heaton Park area again to have another look. I will keep you all posted.  Jan has been  in touch regularly to keep us updated which we appreciate very much.  Thanks again to Heather so i I had the wrong number for you. Managed to get use of car so drove over to New Hey from Bradford armed with posters, a slip lead and 2 tins of sardines ( didnt have any pilchards in ) Put some posters up New Hey train station, on a few lamp posts. Landlord/Landlady in Bird in Hand pub were very happy to a poster up in there ( it seems the lady knows Doglost ) so they were really helpful.  Then put some up in Tesco express , Somerfield and towards Milnrow.  Came across a few dog walkers in both areas so handed out to them. One lady I spoke to said she would get some more posters off and take in to work with her / pass on to her friends and family. Come on Teddy  -  time to be found !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

He was going pretty fast, so chasing him off the Mway was probably the best they could do under the circumstances..

Any dog would be very scared with that to contend with. Just wondered if anyone could ask about putting poster in  Birch Services with contact details.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please dont just rely on the chip bringing him home.  Hopefully, it will  But , if someone finds him ,and thinks he's a nice dog  they may not think to take him to be scanned. So posters will alert neighbours to fact that a new dog has turned up. Check regularly with dog warden/rescue centres ( visit their kennels in person preferably) Hope he is back home very soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner, sorry to see Teddy is missing.  Thanks for registering his details on DL, we will do all we can to help you in your search.   Great you have supplied us with a photo.  You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible.  Posters can be printed by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information (you must be registered and logged in).  Contact DW's, rescues, vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Dogs can be rehomed after 7 days, try and visit rescues do not rely on phone calls alone.   Ensure you contact the CHIP Co and report him missing and that your contact details are up to date. Please update on who has been contacted, DW's etc and if you have started postering.  You can leave a comment by selecting  Add a comment  just above Comments.  Good luck and hope he is found soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
