Thanks Sam for the lovely photo/s and update.  Your story will give hope to others who are in the unfortunate situation that you found yourself in.  Very often it is the postering that gets dogs found and you have proved how they really do work.  Give Bailey an extra big hug from everyone on DL and we are sure you will now be on the lookout for missing dogs.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sam. Sorry to hear that Bailey is missing. If I were you I would keep a very discreet check on this house. If they do have Bailey they might decide to move him elsewhere if they think they've been rumbled. If they have got him they'll have to let him out sometime - call of nature, etc. Maybe ask other people living in that road if they've noticed a new dog in the area. Hope he's home soon xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sam, I'm so sorry to see Bailey is missing and hope this little one is back home with you quickly -  but the advice Jan (Majorjet) has given is so true. Keep up postering as if he has been stolen it will alert people who may notice a similar dog recently appearing in their vicinity., and keep on contacting the dog warden daily. Do try to get down to the kennels if possible.  It seems quite a few people advertise on Gumtree so keep checking the site to see if there is a similar dog for sale ( or you could even put an advert on there) Give posters out to people who are out and about in your area on a daily basis ie local taxi companies ,the bin collectors and also the postal delivery people for your area as they can be very useful eyes and ears. I'm too far away to help poster in your area but I will look out on other websites and rescues just in case I come across anything. Of course, if I do I will let you know. Good Luck and fingers crossed he's back with you very soon x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have you tried contacting your local radio station and local paper Sam? Newspaper appeals are often very effective, obviously reaching a number of people. Jumanji - do you have any contacts that might be able to help getting Bailey's theft and plea for info into the paper? Keep going with the posters, it will seem tireless but posters really do work. Ensure you have postered pubs as often stolen dogs are sold on fairly quickly and pubs are common places to do this - all the pubs, including the dodgy ones you wouldn't normally go near! Good Luck......my choc Lab here is wishing Bailey home very soon. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Many thanks to Jan ( Majorjet) for making the posters up for Bailey !Sam I am so sorry to see that Bailey is missing. Do keep up with the postering as much and as widely as you can to raise all the public awareness possible.  This will help get Bailey back if either he has escaped OR been stolen as hopefuly someone will come forward with the informtion you need to get him home again. Do make sure you contact your local pound to make sure Bailey has not been taken there. Although he is microchipped you CANNOT rely on them to contact you and I always advise owners to try and visit the kennels in person to be certain there dog is not there. By law they only have to keep a stray dog for 7 days before either rehoming or sending them on to a rescue and for this reason do try and visit them. Check with your dog warden exactly which stray kennels they use. As far as I am aware it should be SHEFFIELD CITY KENNELS, SPRING STREET SHEFFIELD S3 8PB   PHONE 0114 293 0362 . You do need to make an appointment with them to view the dogs and you cant just turn up at the premises. Also I believe they are not open to the public at weekends so i advise that you call them to arrange a visit. I hope Bailey is home with you very soon xxx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sam thanks for updating us on the circumstances.  If he has been stolen you must get a CRIME NUMBER from the Police.  You are doing all the right things, make him TOO HOT TO HANDLE.  Great that he is CHIPPED.  I will send you various size posters a.s.a.p. with further information.  Have uploaded the photos of Bailey to bring him closer and to view the right way up.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i've put posters in local shops petrol stations and post offices put posters on lots of lamp posts in our local area. I've contacted local police and informed petlog. I've contacted barnsley, chesterfield & doncaster dog rescues & informed local run dog wardens. I've also informed alot of friends going out with more posters tomorrow i really hope we find him i certain hes been stolen. my garden is fully fenced with a 6ft fence & a 6ft gate which only has a bolt on the inside & theres no way of opening the gate from the outside without climbing over & when we went out to fetch dogs in the gate was open & my husband says it was deffinatly locked when he let dogs out i just carnt understand it & were missing him so muchLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sam sorry to see lovely Bailey is missing.  Thanks for registering and adding his details on DL, we will do all we can to help you in your search, can you confirm the circumstances, as he gone missing from home or on a walk?  Great you have supplied a photo.  You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible, we cannot stress enough the importance of the postering.  Posters can be printed by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information (you must be logged in).    Contact DW's, rescues, vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Dogs can be rehomed after 7 days, try and visit rescues do not rely on phone calls alone.  Great he has been CHIPPED do ensure you contact the Chip Co and report his missing and that your details are up to date. Please update us on who has been contacted i.e. DW's etc and if you have started postering.  You can leave a comment by selecting  Add a comment  just above Comments.  Good luck and hope he is found soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
