Another year; sadly no news, but never forgotten.
OldGreyMan
November 20th – Flash’s 11th birthday
We searched extensively after this thread was started almost 5 years ago – the time and effort, willingly given, would all have been worth it, had she been found. Privacy was requested, which did impose some limitations; nevertheless, the request was respected as, in addition, there were children who cared, involved. There were always constraints for those who were searching – we just hoped that someone would be able to give more information ‘in confidence’. A ‘third hand’ remark that she has died cannot be confirmed; her FB page may still help. But, without any definite evidence to the contrary, we would like her details to remain on the DogLost website ‘Lost’ section.

Popping in hoping for news. x

Not my 'talents' and not alone. Many others, who care equally, have been watching, but don't regularly post on here.

5 years, that's incredible Old Grey Man. You have done such a fantastic job for her XX

Thank you, Jayne for ringing re 'Found' greyhound ID 54215.
Long conversation with 'finder's' family - tattoos/names exchanged. Sadly not Flash, but their little 11 yr old has found a brilliant and experienced 'greyhound' home - she is safe and loved. Thanks to all involved.Last edited: 2013-07-02 17:27:44 by OldGreyMan

Sadly, no new information at all. But the support and new 'awareness' due to all on DogLost is much appreciated; she will not be forgotten.
OldGreyMan
Have looked closely at enlarged version of photos, but they do not match. Flash's nose is 'distorted' from the injury - also she will be 11 in November, but your post is much appreciated, thank you.
No worries re the dog in the advert (previous post). Heartwarming story with happy ending.Last edited: 2013-06-29 07:21:02 by OldGreyMan

"It just might be that someone with the best intentions has taken her in . . . ." Yes, you are right, Houndiegirl. The poster that was widely circulated locally, in addition to the one on the site, indicated that possibility and the fact that we would compromise, in confidence, in that situation.Last edited: 2013-06-11 16:53:18 by OldGreyMan

Good!! I so hope she is found and i will share, share, share and keep my eyes and ears peeled. It just might be that someone with the best intentions has taken her in and never reported her . So very sad and send you all my best wishes xx
OldGreyMan
Absoluely no offence taken, whatsoever - it would be most inappropriate - we are grateful for any interest - partly why I indicated I would be happy to speak or text privately, as this is a very public site. I am really sorry it has appeared otherwise - very sadly, this can happen when exchanging correspondence on forums. This lass has a very distinctive appearance. She is not GBGB registered. Because of the extensive recent publicity in the same area - and the increase in social networking, it seemed to be worth one last reminder in case it 'jogged' someone's memory, locally in particular. Hiya. Thats good. I wasn't meaning to cause any offence just a suggestion as i run a greyhound rescue and if i came across her i wouldn't know whether it was her or not as i don't know her race name. You have to go on the hound forums regularly to see info and not everyone involved in greyhound rescue or general rescue would necessarily see it. If she was taken in to an all breed rescue or pound and they rehomed her from there they don't even bother checking with the GBGB (if she has bee registered to race in GB) or the irish/ English stud book directly to find out info about her tattoos. i really hope you find her whereabout one day and send you all my best wishes. Sorry if any offence was caused. I just wanted to see if i could help xLast edited: 2013-06-07 21:18:52 by houndiegirl
OldGreyMan
Thanks for your suggestion, Houndiegirl. That was done some time ago - also included on other 'hound' forums. One of the 'rescues' on the South coast kindly contacted us about a lass with a similarly injured nose, but it definitely wasn't her. For some years, anyone checking her identity by tattoo, would have been informed that she is 'tagged' as missing and would have been given our details. Very happy to discuss further if you feel you want to text/phone.Last edited: 2013-06-07 16:33:45 by OldGreyMan

Just a thought but is it worth contacting all big rehoming centres with her actual race nname so if she pops up on their system they can instantly let you know. It so easy to check if we had her race name. It would also mean that rescues looking at this post could instantly tell you if shes been through their hands too. Confidentiality wouldnt be broken as its not revealing the owners details who are sadly missing her just would help locate her . Just a thought as it may solve where she is.

Shared and added to follow list. I really hope that OldGreyMan and Flash's owner/trainer, two people who genuinely care, get some information very soon. Well done to both for continuing to look out for Flash.

Thank you, Mollychops, and everyone for your interest and for sharing. As you see from the two, recent, lengthy posts, time has well passed for active searching, but she may still be ‘out there’ somewhere. She is instantly recognisable, so while everyone is out and about their normal activities through the summer, please be aware that people do still care and want to help with her, or take her in, if needed – or simply to know what happened to her.
Mollychops
Thanks everyone, email alerts have gone out I know as ive just had mine

What a sad but lovely story xxx
Mollychops
Ive bumped to refresh peoples memories about Flash , and I will put her forwards for the Countrymans Weekly column to make more people aware she is still missing and people are still concerned about her whereabouts
OldGreyMan
This lass’s original owner/trainer bought her, from Ireland, as a racing dog, but on the way over, she sustained a severe injury to her nose, which meant that she would never race here. Rather than ‘putting her to sleep’ as some would have done, her owner/trainer paid for delicate surgery to repair the damage, then cared for her until a family home was found by an intermediary, who is no longer ‘active’. She was much loved there by the children, but disappeared, without any trace, on the night of Nov. 1st 2008.

Time has passed and situations change, but her original owner/trainer still cares about her and would want to be involved if she is somewhere ‘out there’, either ill or needing other veterinary care. Between us, we would help cover costs - she would be 11 in November, so if still alive, may be getting frail. Social media sites have vastly increased circulation, so it is worth another reminder.

Please read my post of 31/10/2011 again and please contact me on 07970 881487 if any information at all (old or new) – will be in strict confidence if necessary. New posters are available here to reflect current situation – will willingly email or send on request.

What a lovely write-up on this bumped girl. I so very hope that she is found safe and well. As you say, it would be nice to know even if she is settled in a new home.

Lets hope this bump may jog someones memory.Thank you fo caring Old Grey Man
OldGreyMan
Three years ago, today, (Nov 1st - ?due to fireworks) this lass went missing, and although there were not many original posts on her thread, her family and previous owner/trainer, (who paid for expensive surgery to her injured nose) gave permission for a ‘greyhound group representative’ to continue the search. A huge effort was made in the surrounding areas and towns to find her, without any clue to her whereabouts. An extensive poster 'drop', this time last year, produced nothing. She is distinctive due to the old injury to her nose – and although the ‘profile’ originally said not, she IS tattooed in both ears.

If she ever turns up, her family would want to know, but children were extremely upset and may now have ‘moved on’. At family’s request to protect their privacy, new posters are available to reflect the current situation, which I will be happy to email out - or send - if requested. Anyone with any information is welcome to contact me via DogLost – or can use 07970 881487. There is a sofa waiting should she ever be found, but if she is already safe and happy, no-one would want to move her. It would just be nice to know.Last edited: 2013-05-21 12:48:34 by OldGreyMan

I would like to thank everyone who is looking for Flash, i'm not sure what else we can do, but thank you all so much. I hope someone is looking after her, and she wasn't hurt or left injured somewhere.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not heard from family at all.  Feel very concerned for this little lass and have been postering and contacting various ?agencies?, with no sign of anything so far.  Will continue to help only if requested, but will have her very much in mind meanwhile.   If she is found and any help needed with/for her, please get in touch with me via DogLost.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Flash is so distinctive - it may be worth doing a feature for the local 'press' if owner wishes.  I would do it as 'Greyhound Rescue' based to protect owner's privacy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Greylady
It sappears that Flash has been stolen rather than just lost.  She is an Irish greyhound, tattoed in both ears, so is identifiable.  She is also SPAYED, SO NO GOOD FOR BREEDING.  Owner has other identifiable features which owner will keep to herself for now.  Owner has been advised to obtain a crime reference number from police. Please poster widely for Flash and she is identifiable................please make her too hot to handle.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
