CROSS POSTED UPDATE from POPPY’s fb page. Lovely words by Kellie O’Shea ❤️

Just reading through some of the hundreds of comments and messages following Poppy’s safe capture by her lovely Mum ❤️
I wanted to say again a huge thank you to every single person who has been a part of the incredible support system that came together for Poppy and her family. We always joke that if you’re a lost dog, the best place to get lost is in Liverpool as you’ll suddenly have hundreds of people rallying round to get you home, but this just proves how true that really is!

Poppy’s family and her search team are just blown away by the kindness and help that has been there every step of the way. Please forgive me if I can’t name everyone personally or reply to every comment, but please know how deeply grateful we all are for every single bit of help, it has made all the difference during a really difficult time. Thank you so much ❤️🐶 xxxx

I should also say that this safe capture really does illustrate how a dog can be missing, keep themselves safe and not be seen EVEN ONCE during a number of days/weeks etc. The incessant daily postering is what made all of the people who spotted Poppy yesterday know to call her owners right away, and that’s why her mum was able to be there within two minutes and why Poppy is now home safe. Another important reminder not to give up, keep postering and one day the call will come! ❤️ special thanks to Jan Major at DogLost for all her support and for the creation of the poster that we all printed hundreds of times❤️ xx

CROSS POSTED from POPPY’s fb page:

There are no words to say how happy I am to know Poppy is back in the loving arms of the most loving owners. I have never seen such dedication and commitment from owners, as well as such trust and belief that one day it would all come together, and today it did ❤️ as we have said all along we just needed *that one sighting* and today, on day 8 after nothing at all since minutes after Poppy ran off, it happened.

As well as postering and speaking to every person possible, we have spent all week checking maps, looking at possibilities, quietly walking our “suspected” routes, scenting and setting up cameras and feeding stations. Yesterday we had pinpointed a “most likely corner” where we expected Poppy to use, and had walked there with Poppy’s mum, human family and little Bichon sister Lola and cousin Luna. They are her very best friends in the world. We were disappointed to see nothing on the cameras overnight as we had guesstimated that Poppy would be using that corner between the cemetery and industrial estate, or as with many lost dogs, head to the railway.

Today as we were setting up another camera with a trap on hand, we got the call we’d been waiting for to say Poppy had been sighted. From what we’ve been told, she ran out just a little bit away from where we were setting up, near the space that we’d guessed, straight up Long Lane and through to the railway. She was frantic as people understandably got excited to see her after so long and instinctively tried to catch her, but despite running across some busy roads she seems to have known her “back and forth” route fairly well. We had to ask everyone except her mum to stay well back and give her some space, and her mum remembered everything about staying calm, breathing and letting Poppy realise who she was. Poppy was at the side of the railway when she realised her mum had come to save her, and ran through a big patch of brambles to get to her. It’s like something from a Disney movie but it’s real, and the miracle happened. Poppy is currently at home with her family, enjoying taking her favourite chicken chew sticks from Lola 😂 she is very dirty and bedraggled, and has lost a fair bit of weight but otherwise in very good shape for a tiny dog.

I can’t say how absolutely incredible Poppy’s family have been, but also how wonderful everyone in this group and beyond has been. Thousands of posters and leaflets printed and distributed, constant shares and updates, very focused help, passive walking, honestly the amount of help offered and given has just been unbelievable. You are all amazing and this result is the biggest team effort ever. Welcome home beautiful little girl, we are all so so happy. Well done clever little Poppy!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️xxxx

Fantastic to get the news POPPY had been found. Great to finally update the share post. Everyone has been amazing with the support for her family who have also worked so hard and it has paid off. Thanks a million to each and everyone of you. Kellie O'Shea as usual has done wonders and kept POPPY’s group updated with regular updates on top of being there on the ground.

UPDATE by overjoyed family:

❌❌SHE’S HOME❌❌

Well what can I say.. 8 whole days ago this little toy poodle went missing, surviving that freezing -3 weather and crossing numerous busy roads!

Well today we got her back she’s lost some weight but other than that not a mark/scratch on her..

We just want to say thank you to absolutely everybody who has shared our posts, kept a look out walking your dogs, helped print/put up missing posters and just for all your lovely comments..

But most of all a big massive thank you to Kellie O'Shea and her team don’t even know where to start.. what a women!!! she has been out day and night, keeping my mum sane, handing/putting up flyers, setting her traps constantly giving us advice and never loosing hope actually don’t know where she gets her energy from.. but all I can say is if you have Kellie helping you search for your dog listen to every word she says because she knows her stuff.

Thank you to Jan Major for constantly keeping poppy seen through social media and not letting people forget!

Thank you to all the businesses on the prison road who helped us with cctv especially Merseyside Aquatic Warehouse & AAAMOTORS (can’t find them on here if anyone knows there Facebook please tag) We understand how busy use are and you could of told us you didn’t have time like most, but you never use were always on hand to help, nothing was ever too much trouble and I wish you every success because use deserve it!!

To the people who have called today with sightings and who tried to catch poppy to bring her home without use she wouldn’t be here now!!

Poppy is settling back in god knows what she’s been up to but she’s safe and where she belongs..

Thanks again to you all xx

A huge thank you to the numerous people, too many to name, who have printed, sent, done doorstep drop offs, given out leaflets and put up posters for Poppy. We have done a couple of thousand this week, but the area is so vast and the weather so changeable that many are blowing down and need replacing as we go. We will continue to poster until we get that one vital sighting that makes a difference 🙏🏼❤️ thank you all so much, it really does mean the world to know people want to help Poppy and her family. Let’s keep going 🙏🏼❤️ xx

❌UPDATE❌

WE URGENTLY NEED TO SPEAK TO A BLONDE LADY WHO DRIVES A GREY 08 REGISTRATION LAND ROVER. She was on the industrial estate with two children on Friday around 2.45pm and saw Poppy during her last known sighting. This lady may have vital information which can help us as she can tell us what happened next. Please think of anyone you know who fits this description and ask them to get in touch ASAP. Thank you.

❌PLEASE SHARE❌

❌ UPDATE MONDAY 15 FEB ❌

Unfortunately an idiot decided to make a hoax call pretending to have Poppy yesterday, which as you can imagine not only wasted time but caused totally unnecessary further distress to her exhausted and devastated owner. This family has not stopped since Friday and couldn’t possibly be trying any harder to bring their beloved Poppy home safely, what kind of fool would want to upset such lovely people 🤯

HOWEVER at midnight we also had a late reported sighting from Friday. We now know that Poppy was sadly yet again, totally unintentionally, frightened off by barking dogs on Long Lane some time in the afternoon, before 5pm. We are told there was a male running along Long Lane at the time, who may or may not have been trying to catch Poppy. He might’ve just been a jogger but we desperately need to speak to him if possible. If you or any male you know were running on Long Lane near the prison on Friday afternoon, please could you get in touch so we can ask you what you saw?

PLEASE REMEMBER NOT EVERYONE IS ON FACEBOOK SO PLEASE SPEAK TO PEOPLE ABOUT POPPY TOO.

Please share this post. Again a massive thank you to so many people who are all helping, it’s so kind and much appreciated x

Advice is being given and followed up. Thanks to everyone who is helping to find her and sharing her details. It is important people don’t go searching and try to catch her which may spook her out of the area.
