- Lisa thanks for the detailed reunion update. Whenever you and GAP volunteers are asked for assistance you all show sheer dedication going out in all weathers and travelling some distances WELL DONE and THANK YOU to each and everyone of you at Greyhound GAP. We are sure Luke will soon fully recover and wish him a brilliant future. When the time is right we would love a REUNITED photo even better if some of the volunteers of the GAP Team were on it. Thanks. Jan xxx BEST WISHES TO EVERYONE FOR 2009 X Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Oh God you've got me blubbing !! LOL So lovely to get an update, and what a lucky boy he has been. I have had so many greyhounds - mainly all rescues, and believe me - he will repay you all over and over again by being the most beautiful credit to you all. Well done again x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thank you all again for your support its wonderful to know so many people at DL as always were routing for this boys safe return. We went out after a sighting last night and think we saw him lying low in bushes as we caught his eyes in the flashlight but didnt want to drive him back into the area any further so left him be. I suggested to Trish we come away and leave him and see if he followed us out (greyhounds being greyhounds and nosey). We hung around but didnt see him and then moved about 100 yards to search another area. As we were there we heard a car peep really aggresively and I think both myself and Trish thought the same he had followed us out and been hit. So we flew back up and again no signs. We checked around where we had been and then iffed and aared about heading up a path but chose not to as it was really badly lit and the head torch was on its way out by this point and we couldnt feel our footfall. He was found this morning on the very same path at the top sheltering in the corner of a field with the broken leg and freezing cold so the chances are we were right and he did follow us out and probably got hit when we heard the peep. Feel gutted to think we caused it but there isnt alot you can do in those situations other than get out on every sighting. Its probably done us a favour that he did get hit as it meant he was in a spot easy to be found other than out there for who knows how long. He is at the vets being warmed up properly, hydrated and is sedated to allow him to rest and will be having x rays later to see what needs to be done to fix the leg. Once he is back on his feet we are going to get him microchipped to Gap and offer him and his owners the same amount of back up any of our own dogs would receive as he feels like one of my own now anyway bless him and his owners are lovely people who have received no help thus far and deserve it. Jo and her little boy Tyler have searched tirelessly for this boy and Tyler today is one happy little man. Oh and LOL at Jane! You know me hyperactive idiot who god forbid should be left sitting comfortably to my own devices for more than half an hour would be getting into all manner of trouble so best I keep myself busy. Thanks again for all your support and will update with news from the vets.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Brilliant that Luke has been found. Well done Lisa for all your hard work as usual. I do hope the break is not too bad and luke will soon be back to his old self. I'm sure he is going to be spoilt rotten for a while now. Welcome home Luke x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- So pleased to see this good news, albeit that Luke has a broken leg, poor boy, but it's fixable hopefully. Look forward to the story, and am so pleased also for Lisa, who is a STAR. I remember she travelled hundreds of miles down here to the south coast to help in the search for Meg not long ago, not such a happy ending that time though unfortunately. Welcome home Luke, stay safe now xx

Nothing and still no sightings weve been out there for 7 hours today and just got back in. Also visited the local pound for a coffee and warm and the S-O-T dog warden was there too and he has had no reported sightings. Have to admit im worried sick the lad has his lead on and if he was caught up in something in the temperatures out there there is no way he would survive a night.
We have literally covered 10-12 miles on foot today I would imagine with people heading off in various locations in and around Chatterley Whitfield weve covered Fegg Hayes, Chell Heath round up to Brindley Ford back through to Ball Green then over and around Norton we have been up the hill down the hill checking all growth, trees and shrubage. The only thing we can hope is that we have been thorough enough to rule out him getting caught up in any of those areas which are the most likely.
Its been quite mild today so we hoped he may be up and about warming up but the temperatures now the sun has gone down are just so so bad.
Massive thanks to those who took the time to turn out
Kennels in the morning then back out again. Lot of posters have gone out today so all we can do is hope to god someone see’s him but people are much more aware he is missing today than they were yesterday.- 2009-01-01 19:41 Greyhoundgap
- Thanks Jane for getting this up. Luke is NOT a Greyhound Gap dog BUT is missing locally to myself. The owners have no support from the rescue he came from and havent had any contact from them from the day they took him on. Luke is a typical blue greyhound quite nervous and the dog in the photo isnt Luke but a similar dog homed by Gap last year. Luke went missing from ST6 6QT the owner was heading onto Chatterley Whitfield greenway opposite Johnson Place Fegg Hayes. The dog broke the lead from his hand he was last seen veering left down a path running alongside Chatterley Whitfield pit fencing before doubling back and heading up the hill itself. There have been no sightings since 1.30pm on 31st Decemeber. We have been out there all this afternoon and are heading out again shortly BUT we are arranging to meet en masse if possible tomorrow if anyone in the area can help search. We will be meeting at Johnson Place at 10am. Thanks Lisa Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Message from Greyhound Gap:
Hiya Jane have a missing dog not a Gap one but local to me and assisting. Dont have a photo of dog at the moment so am attatching a photo of a similar dog. Lisa x Greyhound Gap are assisting in finding a greyhound who has been missing since 31st December after pulling his lead from his owners hand. The owner had taken the dog onto the Chatterley Whitfield Greenway opposite Johnson Place ST6 6QT. The dog was close to the hill when he pulled and ran off to the left onto the Greenway that runs parallel with the old pit fencing. The dog then doubled back to the hill. This dog is a blue greyhound castrated male and has a black collar and his lead still on. The dogs name is Luke and he is earmarked BUT IS VERY TIMID. If he see’s people he will approach but then back off. PLEASE do NOT approach this dog but stop and stay still and see if he approaches you. In the first instance please ring Greyhound Gap on 01782 544728 or 07917422489 as Lisa is in direct contact with the owner. The owners are sadly not sure if the dog is microchipped as he came from a rescue where they were promised it would be done but the paperwork never arrived. They have had the dog around 12 weeks.
