From Christine Walker , Lost Dog Recovery South - MOUSEY, a fear agressive Romain rescue escaped from his foster's garden in the New Forest shortly after arrival on 6th March. Over the next 14 days he gradually starting returning to the foster's garden and had started entering a trap to feed, but as the area became busier with walkers (and ponies!!) Mousey's visits became less regular and he then disappeared from the area. 3 days later he was seen near Lyndhurst 5 miles away on the busy A35 where he was clipped by a car 😢. With no further sightings for 2 days concerns were growing for his welfare - drone assistance was requested but in the end not needed as Mousey was sighted seemingly fit and well nearly 2 miles away and back towards 'home' at Matley Bog Campsite (not in use). The following day he was back on the outskirts of Lyndurst again in the grounds of a derelict hotel; over the next 7 days food was put down and his movements monitored with a view to get him feeding in a location away from humans and suitable for a large trap to be put in place. On 3rd April Mousey was finally trapped, his 4 weeks of freedom over ❤.
Many thanks to the New Forest Rangers for allowing posters to be put up, to Kate from New Forest Dog Owners Group and local helper Angie for their invaluable help with posters, food and cameras, to Mark from New Forest District Council, to Chris and George for allowing access to their house and garden, to the landowner for allowing access to the field that Mousey was Last edited: 2021-04-03 17:53:51
