CROSS POSTED from CLAIN fb page:
A very emotional day here at the Sanctuary, in March we got the call we always dread, a poor stray dog roaming the streets of Liverpool emaciated, malnourished and quite simply neglected. Dudley was a part of the Carla Lane Animas in Need family from the day he arrived... becoming more boisterous, affectionate and playful everyday and gained weight gradually 🥰
Today, after multiple successful introductions with his new family, Dudley went off to his new home. We couldn’t be more proud of this boy for all he has overcome. He has socialised with more people than we think he has ever known, he has learnt to walk on a lead and even walks past some dogs with minimal reaction, he has gone from having almost no concept of cleanliness to sleeping on a raised bed in his kennel and most days his bedding is still as it was the night before... he has now behaved so well that a lovely family have fallen in love with him and given him a space in their home ❤️
We are so thankful to Dudleys new family, all who have supported him and us along the way and not forgetting Maggie our long term supporter who sketched this amazing portrait of Dudley for us. ❤️
We hope all works out for our lovely bulldozer boy 🤣❤️ - 2021-05-12 14:32 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Am sure it will not be long before he is snapped up! Absolute hats off to the rescue.

Hey everybody, I'm still waiting!
The staff thought I would have people lined up waiting for me but that just doesn't seem to be the case 😥
Even if I'm not the dog for you, please please share!!
Dudley was very badly malnourished and neglected on his arrival with us back in March.
Since then Dudley has been given lots of TLC and has been nursed to full health.
Dudley is a fun loving boy, he absolutely loves toys and will often choose a toy over a treat which is madness considering this lad spent his previous days starving. He does love food though and plenty of cuddles and kisses with his friends at the sanctuary.
Dudley is clean in his kennel with the option to go outside in his run, which is a great improvement since he arrived, as we think he had previously been left in a yard without food, water or shelter and had no concept of ‘cleanliness’. He enjoys his raised bed and more often than not his blankets are made into a little nest surrounded by toys.
Dudley had issues with strangers on arrival, which isn’t surprising as it seems he had no positive interaction and had lost all faith in humans, now Dudley is great with everyone at the sanctuary and has even met a few ‘outsiders’. Dudley can react and bark on occasion to things out of the ordinary, eg high vis jackets or delivery drivers, but he is becoming more and more accustomed to the unknown everyday and we feel he has improved massively.
Dudley is reactive to dogs, again due to lack of socialisation and is very strong on the lead. He is currently undergoing some lead training which we will explain thoroughly to any potentially adopters, in order to maintain and continue to further his training.
He is such a special, friendly boy. He has now gained over 11kg since arriving with us, he has been neutered and has had the haematoma on his ear examined by our vets who have said he will have no complications from it and it is now a hard lump.
We are searching for a mastiff/bullbreed or Large Dog experienced home for Dudley, preferably with experience of reactivity in dogs and training. He needs a strong capable owner, ideally in a quieter area where he can grow further in confidence and socialise slowly. Dudley cannot be rehomed with children or other dogs.
If you would like to offer Dudley the perfect home, please fill out the application form below as thoroughly as possible.

We have had another busy week but we have really enjoyed seeing our dogs enjoying playtime in the sun, with their new toys and donated dog-safe paddling pool! Where would we be without you, our fabulous “suppawters” 🥰🐶 Your kindness makes it possible for us to be there to help the dogs who really need us, and keeps us going when times get hard.
One of the most rewarding parts of our work is seeing a scared sad dog become a happy playful dog, and this week marks a month since we first met our lovely Cuddly Dudley. His sad face and failing body broke everyone’s hearts, but you all rallied round for him and his sadness is now in the past. His life is happy now and we are so honoured to have been a part of making that happen. We wanted to share with you a “then and now” comparison a month on, so that all of you who sent love, donations, gifts and prayers for Dudley could see in front of your eyes how you have truly helped him leave his past behind and look forward to a bright happy future. This is why we do what we do, no matter how hard it may be at times! Dudley is just one example, one dog, one saved and changed life. Our dogs are all worth it, they deserve the very best and we will continue to give them everything we possibly can.
To everyone who believes in rescue, please keep believing. Rescue saves lives ❤️ THANK YOU xx - 2021-04-14 21:21 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West

Dudleys been a brave man today and has been to the vets to be neutered ✂️. Wow what a difference.. he’s now weighing in at 31kg he’s not that skinny 20kg boy anymore! 🐶 The vets have had a good look at his ear whilst he was under but unfortunately the damage is too far gone and his ear should have been treated a long time ago! It is best left alone, it doesn’t cause him discomfort anymore and it adds to his quirks 💙 Dudley will recover this week and then move over to the rehoming block were he will get the training and socialising he very much needs and deserves from the dedicated rescue staff. He is not ready for rehoming right now but we will keep you posted on his progress and post when he is ready for adoption❣️ Whilst Dudley was sulking this afternoon he whispered if any supporters want to surprise him with an indestructible toy for him to wrestle with over the next few days he would be very happy! ❣️ - 2021-04-07 00:19 Georgy Porgy

💛💚🧡 HAPPY EASTER 🧡💚💛
💚 SUPER DUPER DUDLEY 💚
Dudley is not currently up for rehoming, however we are able to take applications for him.
Dudley arrived with us only a few weeks ago, we are sure you haven’t forgotten the poor emaciated, malnourished stray?
Well, just look at him now! Our handsome, now chunky boy is doing so very well. He has gained over 8kg, he is making friends with all of the staff, having training on the lead and working on some reactivity issues.
This boy has really impressed us and has the most loving personality.
Dudley would like to thank you all for your kind, generous donations towards his care. ❤️
If you would like to send Dudley an Easter treat, please see our Amazon Wishlist below 💛

20.03.21 UPDATE by Carla Lane Animals in Need Liverpool
We are sure everyone is waiting patiently for an update, so here is the “one week later” news about a very different, “Cuddly” Dudley! ❤️
This time last week, we were all totally horrified at the state of the dog we saw in front of us. Quite literally days from death suffering starvation and dehydration, and so scared he could not be handled safely. He had a very cautious prognosis and we went to bed last Saturday with heavy hearts, praying for a miracle. And it came! We are overjoyed to say that with love, food, medical attention and care, he has made better progress in just a week than we could ever have hoped. Today we see a much happier more comfortable and relaxed dog, who has already begun to trust us enough to make friends with several of our staff, and who has gained over 3kg in just a week. His skin is no longer as tight and shrivelled around his aching bones and he can sit, stand and lie down comfortably without the horrible pain he was experiencing. It is heartbreaking to think about what he has been through and some of the information we have learned about his past more than explains his wariness, but thankfully his neglect is finally over. Seeing him want to be around us and starting to become happy and playful instead of worried and fearful really does make all of the heartache and hard work worthwhile. We really can’t believe we are looking at the same dog, but here he is. Isn’t he just incredible!
We have not only been blown away by Dudley and the strength he has shown, we are equally overwhelmed by the support and kindness that has been shown to him and to us. We know you were as shocked and distressed as we were at what poor Dudley had suffered. Unbelievably, your donations to help him totalled a massive £10,000! We are humbled by such a huge and unexpected show of support for our work for Dudley and dogs like him. The last year has been so hard for everyone but of course we have had to keep going for the dogs who need us the most, and we couldn’t do it without you. Your support helps us to keep helping them, especially the desperate cases like Dudley. Thank you to every single person who has donated so generously, shared our posts and sent good wishes for Dudley. What you have done will help Dudley and many other dogs, and we are extremely grateful.
We will keep you all posted as Dudley moves forward on his journey towards a full recovery. He still has a long way to go but we know he can do it and he has an army behind him! Thank you all again, from us and from our very special boy Dudley xxx - 2021-03-16 20:31 Carolynl
- Understand, and apologise if thought was speculating. The main thing is it's lovely to see dear Dudley is going along the right way...hoping he would find the strength to do so with love and care at his own pace and in his own way...keep going this way sweetheart - wishing you the very best of love & luck xLast edited: 2021-03-16 20:34:15 by Carolynl

CROSS POSTED UPDATE
DUDLEY UPDATE
Today was a big day for Dudley. Following our discussions over the weekend when we made a plan with the vets given the severity of his condition, today Dudley had a full visual assessment. He was understandably still too fearful to allow a full physical examination by our vets, but he held himself together well with the help of his best friend Cathy, who he will allow to examine him if she promises to be careful. So together the vet team managed to get a good look at him and assess his current condition. When he arrived with us on Saturday evening we immediately sent video and photos of him for vet opinion to check if he needed emergency admission. He was assessed as a body score of 1, being the worst possible. By today, with the help of six small nutritious meals a day, he has not only gained 1.25kg in weight but has moved slightly up the body condition scale, and is now approaching the 1-2 body score range. This may sound like minimal progress and it is of course good news which makes us happy for him, but we are saddened and angered by seeing proof that his condition is simply a result of lack of food.
We are aware that there has been some speculation regarding Dudley's ownership and whether he might be a stolen dog. We cannot comment in any detail as we hope you will understand, but we can confirm that we have made contact both with his owner and the relevant authorities. Please may we therefore ask for no further speculation in this regard, as we are dealing with matters appropriately. What is important now is that we focus all of our energy on making sure that Dudley will never want for anything ever again. He is surrounded by love and we know he has so many new friends who he has never met! Your donations and good wishes really do lift our spirits when we are faced with such sad cases and we are sure Dudley can feel all of the healing being sent his way right now.
Another exciting step happened at closing time when he managed to say a friendly hello to the other staff who came to his rescue at the weekend, even managing to take some treats and give a tail wag for them! Little steps make big changes when you have been as scared as Dudley. We are delighted to see the happy boy beginning to emerge from behind those sad eyes, and we hope it means that he is beginning to understand that he is safe and loved. - 2021-03-16 15:55 NickyB

Update on renamed DUDLEY ❤️
We knew we had the most loyal animal loving supporters, but you have truly amazed us with the extent of your kindness for our lovely Dudley.
We will provide a full update after his vet assessment tomorrow but we know everyone is desperate to know how Dudley is doing. We thought he’d like you to know that he has already enjoyed plenty of tasty food in small regular portions to help build him up.
He has also begun to train us well, so the hot chicken butties arrive at acceptable intervals! Our work helping Dudley and other dogs in need would not be possible without such amazing supporters and of course our outstanding staff team, who don’t always get - or want - the praise they deserve for their work.
This morning Dudley was still very nervous, but this afternoon he reminded us why our manager Cathy is worth her weight in gold.... JUST LOOK AT THAT TAIL ❤️ we all love you Dudley and now you know you are amongst friends.
Thank you once again to every single person who has been so kind to us and to our newest member of the CLAIN family at his time of need, you have no idea how much it means xxx - 2021-03-15 20:28 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- He is settling in and his trust is slowly being gained. He couldn’t be in a better place and if all works out and he recovers he will be back to his former glory.
The donations have been phenomenal and so heart warming to see, he has touch so many and there are a lot of people willing him on. Look on the link below for any updates. - 2021-03-15 19:30 Bo
- There is zero chance he was straying for long.

- My heart goes out to this poor lad, I hope he makes a slowly, steadily but full recovery...thankyou to those who saved him and to his foster family...is there a remote chance he could be a long term missing or stolen dog escaped? Would be nice to think there's the possibility he had a loving family and home somewhere before who are still searching for him...
