Hi everyone, This is Joe, Hal's new daddy. I can't begin to thank everyone, and I mean everyone for all their support, concern and help. I have been overwhelmed with emotion over everyone's kindness for Hal, and coming out all this way to help look for him, make and put up posters, and all in a matter of hours. There were also ton's of support via phone calls, and good advice. There is a very special and huge thank you and gratitude to Kelli... we couldn't have done it withhout you!, and everyone else as well. Thanks again, and God Bless you all!
Joe, Mickey (hal's brother), and Hal!

Brilliant news Kelli, wonderful account of him looking through the window and so pleased that he is back home now, I too have a gate in the hallway that the dogs cannot get past - just incase. All will have a good nights sleep tonight, escaping hounds included!  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh, Kelli you are an absolute star!!! I was so worried about Hal being out in the cold and near roads. I know that he's a survivor but I was still very concerned for his safety. I just loved your account of when you spotted him and he spotted you! I can just imagine his bemused expression and him thinking 'What's she doing here at this time of night?' - LOL. But, how clever of him to return to a place that he's only known for a few days - it just goes to show, doesn't it? I couldn't be more happy for you, his 'new' owner and Greylady, who I know was also very concerned. Welcome home Hal and definitely no more running away from home!!!

Hal is home!! I went down last night in end as couldnt bear waiting - got there about 12.30 and dragged beds about the place cut long story short I went and sat in my car at end of Hals road and looking towards park and at 3.30 Hal was standing looking in! he looked rather bemused as I was talking silly to him out of my open window but when I got out and door shut he ran luckily up his road and I phoned owner Joseph who was inside to OPEN THE DOOR! Hal ran in followed by me and then once penny dropped got the best greeting ever from Hal :love4: he is now safely tucked up with his dad who does love him and hopefully this will never happen again! I think Hal has had enough straying adventures for one dog!!   thanks to everyone who helped cant tell you how happy I, and joseph are xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I do hope that Hal will make his way home to his bed and stay put over night as it is so cold, too far away to do anything useful except send good wishes to all searching for this very special boy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is this the road back towards the house Kelli??  If it was, and it wasn't long ago can you ask Joseph to go in the house and leave the front door open?  Cook something smelly like Liver, and act as normal in side the house.  I know its freezing but this is a very positive sign if he is still in the area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

there has been a sighting of Hal running up his road but then he went again - Joseph is going to to leave his gate open tonight and put Hals beds and things in the garden fingers crossed he can survive this freezing night Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hal was my foster dog for 2 mnths so Im going tommorow I dont know if will do any good? Jospeph says he has told dog warden and they are out looking - we know as another searcher has seen dog warden out Im worried how quick he will revert to a stray life - he was on the loose for 8 mnths before we got him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

not long Joseph took him home 20th December. I told Joseph to call for advice which I know he has done and he is sat nr fields they would normally walk with engine running - he has left some items around the place also.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

kelli- how long has he been with new family? i presume that dog warden and councils have been notified and find out where local strays would go to. let them know although microchipped there cannot be that many 3 legged lurchers on the loose. Get posters out also to any pet stores that will display them. If he has been with new family long enough to recognise smells then it might be worth scenting, but it will depend on time he has been there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to owner with advise on scenting etc. hal was out for 8 months once before and although he only has 3 legs he can run very fast.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
