"Fantastic news to start the Easter weekend off with!!!
JAKE HAS BEEN CAUGHT SAFELY after escaping and being loose for two weeks in an area he did not know.
Well done to all involved!!!
The message below was sent in from the amazing Rescue team, he will be reunited with them very soon and taken back to the kennels for decompression/full health check over. .
FOUND AND SAFE!!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped look for Jake, phoned in sightings, put up posters and shared his post. Also a special thanks to Dog Lost, who have been amazing, Fubar Lost and Found Pets, and the incredible people in Bridge of Don who finally helped us catch Jake! We are so grateful that we have this happy ending.
Jake has been sighted all over Aberdeen in the last 12 days, mostly in the Bridge of Don area, but it appears that he has been travelling extensively. The sightings included a number of areas around Bridge of Don, but also Ellon Road, Blackdog, Balgownie, Granholm, Tillydrone, and then we believe that he may have got on the railway line to Cove, before returning to Aberdeen via A92, and then back to Bridge of Don where he seems to have remained for the last couple of days.
As a direct result of the sightings reported, we were able to establish the areas he was frequenting. At one point some kind young people spent a couple of hours patiently hand feeding him and almost managed to catch him, but unfortunately he got away.
In the end, with the help of a couple of families, who allowed us to set up feeding stations in their gardens, we were able to lure him over a couple of nights with food into one of the gardens, and the family were able to close the gate and that was him safe!
Being an ex-street dog, he was very successful at evading everyone, but he was able to look after himself fairly well, and he appears none the worse for his adventures. He has now had a good night’s sleep, in a warm cosy bed, and a full tummy, and has given his rescuers kisses."
