I have been chatting on PM to owner and advising how best to deal. She has phoned back police and should be getting a call back from an officer today.
Doglost can offer free advice and due to our work with many police forces have a lot of direct contacts .

If Roxie was my dog, I would contact Colin Butcher (Ex police detective from Surrey where he still resides, and now works as a Pet Detective, and has had much success in finding stolen dogs whilst in the police force, and as a Pet Detective. Albeit a private company for those on low incomes money donated by helpers goes towards any searches etc, He also has contacts with other police forces over the UK. So although a long time since the theft, he will probably know which avenue to go down. His side kick is in the shape of a black Cocker Spaniel called Molly. • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
• A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (165551)
• Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
