Zim, you have read my mind. Arranged yesterday for Mia to go on Facebook, along with the other Cornwall missing dogs that I know of. I had hoped that we might get further sightings reported after the radio appeals.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi,
That is good news ZZ.
Cath, don't forget to keep us updated as soon as a possible sighting, I can then send it out to all clients etc.
If you need help with internet, try to find a friend who can set up a page on Facebook.

Hi, found MIA on Agility forum, so think you know more than I do, her name is Sid Griffin, found other Griffins,
If you do not know this club, but think you must, let me know and I will try and find out more.

Hi Cath,
do regular RSPCA checks St Column, think they will take an injured dog, but not strays.
There was an Agility club at Indian Queens, for the life of me can't remember the name of the woman that run it,she did Heelworkto Music as well. Maybe worth a call.
I'll do a quick Google.

Hi Cath,
Are you checking rescue centres twice a week?
Wheal Alfred and St. Frances down here, don't know about your way.
Remember they may not keep a list of all lost dogs, and will re-home within 7 days if brought in.
Keep up the posters, difficult with the Illogan sighting, as although we know what a brown merle looks like, we have no idea if it was MIA or not. Have you had any sightings other than that one since she went missing?

The photo on the left is outside and the other in so would say the left one , she looks darker in the other. She is shades of brown.

All been quiet , have put her details on a new site for lost and found in cornwall - you never know.
Have several people in the illogan area watching out but nothing - all the dog wardens in cornwall know and all rescues that I know of , the police didnt want to know and wouldnt even take any details just said to contact dog warden.
Will keep looking and hoping.

Still patrolling Illogan area, woodland and cemetery areas popular with strays. So far nothing. Posters on main road through Illogan. Need local people to keep an eye out for Mia as they go about their daily tasks/dog walks. Until there is another sighting, it would be difficult to be sure that Mia is still in this area. Cath, have you contacted kennels, animal rescue centres, police, etc with Mia's poster in case she has tried to make her way back home? Other towns on the way north will not be aware she is posted on here and may be handed in to snimal rescue centres. These need to be informed and checked weekly. Please post here if anyone hears any more. Hope for some news soon.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Cath - I have emailed and left a telephone message with central office for them to pass me details to contact you. Alternately you may wish to contact me on an email address I use for these occassions. In case it is picked up by spammers, it doesnt fill my proper email account with rubbish! It is str8indabin@yahoo.co.uk. Yes that says "straight in the bin", but I always read it first if I'm expecting something real, so yours will be ok.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi,
Just remembered that my friend in Illogan has a window cleaner that works the area on foot (well he was last year as no transport).
I have e-mailed to see how often he comes and if he works in the sort of conditions  that are here at the moment.
Apparently he has been doing it for several years, so a possible good contact.

Hi just to let you all know I am Mias owner and am most grateful for help and advice - you are welcome to contact Jane at head office for my contact details.
I have been down to the area several times looking but as Im about thirty miles away and have to work Im pretty limited to seaching and not knowing the area makes it even harder to know where to start.
Was told there is a group of stray dogs that go around illogan area in the early morning but they couldnt say if any looked like Mia.
She is not a battersea dog just got the tags at crufts one year from their stand , she is a RSPCA dog originally.
Still looking for a sideways photo.

Posters placed on kissing gate both sides leading to dog walking wooded area in Illogan. Spoke to locals. This area needs leafleters to people's houses if the dog is still in the area. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have contacted the dog wardens twice in the illogan area and lots of posters have been put up in bridge/illogan area by several people including Tedidy woods area.Have several people walking their dogs in the area watching out and several people who actually have been going looking for her , one on a daily basis. No news at all.

Checked Illogan cemetery, including the overgrown "living cemetery" more likely place if Mia is anywhere around there. No sighting. Placed posters at local surgery and post office and on telegraph poles along main street. Spoke to several locals who knew nothing about the lost dog - no-one has leafleted according to the people I spoke to.  One person had seen the Mia posters at Tehidy Woods and also knew about Monty being missing. Can anyone else help with leafleting for Mia in the Illogan/Bridge area? It is a vast area and will take me ages to do it alone. Thanks.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

a reminder to owners that most rescue centres rehome after 7 days, so it is well worth checking them at least once a week. Once a dog is rehomed it cannot be reclaimed.

Hi,
yes, we need more info on what has been done and what areas.
As MIA is possibly in a totally different area now, have Kerrier and Penwith Dog wardens had an update?
Have local rescue centres had an update wheal Alfred?
Illogan Church, whichone if there is more than one? I know there is the one at the junction with the 2 roundabouts.
Maybe a note could be put up in the local shop asking this lady to come forward with her details.
Anyone know how many schools there are ?
If she is homing in on children it may be worth getting info out to the schools.
With Tehidy woods very close by there will be a lot of dog walkers in that area.
I will try and get a poster on my friends wall or gates the bungalow is on the main road (Alexanndra road where there seems to be a lot of dog walker traffic.

Hi. What information do we have on Mia? Is she shy of other dogs or of other people (she was playing with some children)? Is she ball mad as has been suggested. Is she likely to head for urban or rural areas? Village or fields? How is she around the beach? Is she likely to head there? Has she been obedience trained? Sit, Stay, Recall? She may respond to familiar sounds or words. Where have posters been put so far, can we get loads more out and leafletting? Have there been any positive sightings in the last few days?  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The lady who said her kids were playing with mia came out of illogan church and walked down the road - sadly my friend who spoke to her took no contact details.
Mia does love to play ball and swim

Reading threads-seems like this lady is like a collie I once had and may be really keen on balls-does it not say playing with children and went missing playing ball? So when out bounce a few balls around...it may overcome her fear-just a thought now you have an area.

Don't want to raise any hopes, but a dog very similar to Mia has been spotted in the Illogan/Bridge area, near Redruth. It is looking the worse for wear, limping, and appears to have a shaved area on a back flank. There have been a couple of sightings in the Bridge Road area, but no-one has got close enough to see if this is a dog or a bitch. The person who saw the dog tried to coax it towards her, but the dog studied her, and limped off. Will Mia's posters around Bridge/Illogan/Portreath. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
