This is so sad to read !!!! I dont know that I can add any more. Such a beautiful boy.   Please, please do now think about doing transfers away from motorways as previous posts have mentioned.  The risks for these dogs are far too high if they get away at motorway service areas.  I am sorry for the ones who were working so hard to catch King to see this outcome . I don't want to sound critical ( I promise ) as I know all the people involved in dog rescue are only trying their hardest in very difficult circumstances to help rehome/relocate these dogs AND do it with the best intentions possible  - but it has happened a few times now so maybe it is time to review how ,and where the transfers take place in future Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is such sad news.  What a confused boy he must have been.  I agree with comment below, could these handovers not take place just off the motorway, in a quieter location so the dogs are not scared more that they already are?  Rest in peace you beautiful boy xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

beardies in need
What an awful end for such a lovely dog, so very sad, this often seem to happen on services now, as someone else said with rescues they need double leads and perhaps better to change transport not on a motorway, the same thing happened to a beardie once but we were all lucky enough to get him back. God bless dear King xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

UPDATE: Motorway was shut because of an accident in both directions. On studying CCTV King was clipped slightly but only at 20 miles an hour and was seen to run off as if not hurt at all.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

King has stated straying onto the motorway today and it has been decided to do a mass search tomorrow, we didnt want to flood the area because he was running from everyone but it is getting to dangerous for King to let it continue so if anyone is available tomorrow it would be most appreciated if anyone could come along and help, the area everyone will meet is WV11 2BQ, hilton park between 9:30 and 10 am, Please can everyone who can make it tomorrow keep an eye on this thread and check it again tomorrow before they set off just in case with any luck he is caught before then. Sorry just noticed this boy is not even chipped, please get these dogs chipped before moving it takes seconds then at least they stand a chance.   Even a Tag for the Rescue or mobile number till they are in their foster home where hopefully the fosterer will tag the dog whilst in their care.

Hope this poor boy is caught soon these dogs have enough going on in their lives without this happening.   I also meet rescue vans at services to transport dogs to foster homes or to foster myself.  We must make sure that Slip Leads are used and we are very careful these dogs are so scared they can give even the most experience person the slip.   Please Please when transporting be carefull.  All the best to those of you that are trying to catch this poor boy.
