Yes the owner did say when he called me yesterday to tell me that Baxter was now home after being picked up from Cardonald, that he had been picked up quite a way from where he went missing, which is alarming. He was told that his dog could be re-homed after 7 days, and I think this is what was bothering him - the fact that his dog had been in kennels for that 7 days and nobody had told him that his dog was there, but thank goodness the dog warden noticed him in there. He was chipped when picked up from the kennels, as quoted below.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just out of interest how does a dog lost in Hamilton end up in Cardonald? The dog must have travelled some distance to be picked up by a dog warden that delivers to Glasgow and not Lanarkshire ARRC. Weird one, but the owner did say that he thought the dog had been stolen when he came in to check at Lanarkshire.   Alls well that ends well!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yes very well done Sable.doglost rocks!!
This is a clarion call to owners when they call pounds etc to go in person if at all possible.this poor owner and Baxter could have been reunited days ago ...it makes you go into a cold sweat thinking about what could have happen!
Stay safe now Baxter..perhaps now is a good time to have Baxter chipped?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can well imagine owners are not happy with this and I hope they have made their feelings known at the kennels.   What sort of system do they have where they don't know what dogs they have in - and the worrying thing here is that poor Baxter was in for 7 days - could even have been on the way to being rehomed.  Let's hope that Cardonald kennels learn from this.  Welcome home Baxter, bless him xx

Owner is not very amused that he was there at Cardonald kennels several times but was told his dog was not there, but in fact had been there for seven days..Thankfully,when Baxter was registered onto Doglost a couple of days ago, his poster was sent out to Scottish rescues and was noticed by the Dog Warden. Thanks to us all, Baxter, is home. His owners will be making a donation very soon.Doglost does it again !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

According to the dog warden, there is a similar dog to Baxter at Cardonald SPCA kennels, so have informed the owners to check this out. Hopefully it will be him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have called owner and given advice. there have been no sightings of this dog as yet. The photo above is NOT Baxter, but a similar dog, as the owner does not have a photo of Baxter.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
