- Fabulous news - after over 4 weeks Kara is back home:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/702852673181174/permalink/2420503344749423
"After four weeks, two days and an hour or so (give or take) I’m delighted to report that Kara - whose story many of you have been following - is back with us safe and well after being recaptured early this morning! To say it is a huge relief and emotional moment is something of an understatement!
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to so many people for making this possible:
i) To Canine Capture UK CIC - advice and support for escaped dogs for their skill, expertise and professionalism in recovering Kara;
ii) To Hazel and Laura from HazelMuzzlemutts Lostdog Searchtracktrap for their tireless patience and efforts on the ground to track Kara, rebuild her confidence and keep her in the area to make her recapture possible. None of this would have been possible without you both (including us retaining our sanity) and we are, and will remain, in awe of you for the incredible work you do;
iii) To the landowners at Clerkington for the use of their land and tolerance of the disruption and inconvenience we have almost certainly caused;
iv) To so many of the residents of Dovecote, Acredales Walk and the vicinity for their immense kindness and support; whether the long hours keeping watch for Kara, helping us on the ground, or looking after us with food and supplies or just stopping for a chat. We have been blown away by your kindness and you are amazing! Have to say particular thanks to Ailie Shaikh - you’ve been just incredible and we probably would have broken by now if it hadn’t been for you!
v) To so many of you on this page for you kindness and support throughout this very difficult time. It has meant so much.
It’s going to be a long road to recovery, but it’s a road we’re delighted to be walking!
Will post some photos in a few days when Kara has had a bit of time to distress and settle back in but please bear with us on that front. And thank you again!

- Update on East Lothian lost /found dogs
An update on Kara.
Yesterday was three weeks since she went missing and we are continuing to work every day to bring her back; with the support and expertise of the very best tracking and capture teams. Everything that can be done is being done, but as frustrating and tortuous as it is, it’s going to take time and patience given Kara’s previous history of abuse and nervousness around people. We have unfortunately had one failed attempt at darting (caused by outside factors beyond our control) but we are not giving up. Kara’s welfare is, and will remain, our #1 priority.
As always, we can’t thank everyone who has supported us enough - including the tracking and capture teams, the landowner for letting us use their land, and the community more generally. We are so grateful, and we feel lucky to live in such an amazing community.
Very unfortunately though, the process of recovering Kara is still being hindered; whether by accident or design. That includes dog owners and their dogs walking around and touching the trap, and people tampering with the cameras and equipment. I fully understand the curiosity, and I’m sure most people are not meaning to be malicious, but it really is altering Kara’s behaviour and jeopardising her safe return (the trap is deployed very near her “safe space”). Deliberately tampering with the equipment is definitely beyond the pale though, especially since HazelMuzzlemutts Lostdog Searchtracktrap (whose equipment it is) operate solely on the basis of donations and their own funds.
If you see Kara, please do NOT approach, feed, or try to chase her or flush her out (with or without dogs). We are, however, still hugely grateful for sighting of her and her movement, so please do contact us on the numbers in the missing poster.
And sincere apologies too if we can’t always respond to messages or provide updates as quickly as we would like. Please bear with us and we’ll try and do so whenever we can. - 2021-07-08 21:07 HazY
