- Spoke to owner bit of a sad story. A carcus was found ...a large dog but sadly also a human male lsot his life to the pull of the sluice gates. Plus a row bout the railings that were removed but now replaced. Local media news and fear of legislation prompted new railings. Owner double checking samoyed found in Merton.

- I dont wish to sound morbid but the river gives back what it takes away. Have met walkers + hikers with dogs that follow the river and no one has seen anything.
Checked local papers this side of the river...no found dogs.
Now the barges...a few go past on the river. Where is it they all go to? Is it up north or in the midlands? Went there once myself with a friend who paints barges. It was like the capital city of bargeslots go there for services and repairs.

- Met the lady who told me about the post on the ChiswickW4 website.she apoligised but said the thread was still on going.
The Chiswick lot are very organised + have a website for Chiswick House Organised Walkers.my browser will not let me post link.
Anyway lots walk by the river. Weekends it gets very busy.
Trying to do dawn + dust walks and we have to go by the tide, some sides are too treacherous. Weve looked for lone tracks. My dogs are ratters. They know we are searching for something.
Spoke to the lady at Emmanuel school rowing club. So quite a few are on the look out.

- Thanks Riverlady - You are an angel! We have just returned from more searching today. I had a very long discussion with Sam Thomas, the Brentford Lock Keeper and Head of West london British Waterways yesterday. Sam is sure that Freddie was too big to get through the sloose and was in the canal side, it still remains possible that he was sling shot under and up around the lock and there are many places he got get out, I have been all over today and not had any success. I have poster more places and am hopeful he is ot there. It is becoming incredibly cold again, Samoyeds live in -50oC climates, so this is the only hope we have........ Thanks to you all for your continued support and help, it means so much to us! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- The river is very busy on a saturday. Noticed lots of cars with boots open down slipways. Someone could have picked him up?
Spoke to the Waggery+Dog Wash , White Hart Lane, SW13 0HB they have checked their books, 2 samoyeds but older ones + regular,
If anyone brings one in they will log onto website.

- The landlord of the Ship Inn, Mortlake has not seen any lost dog + will keep a look out.
There a few more local characters I have yet to see who regularly sit by the river.

- Have seen the RNLI guys and they patrolled all the way up to to Brentford checking. A brilliant bunch of lads who will keep looking. Have alerted dogwalkers, rowers + men fixing bridge. Have checked steep banks with my dogs.
Cannot access the back gardens of Harrington Road, Chiswick side.

- Contact Chiswick RNLI at Corney Reach. They regularly patrol the river. So does the Harbour Master + the Environment Agency.
When it is high tide you would be surprised how far a dog can travel.
Am looking by river at Chiswick Riverside.

- Just spoken to Freddie's owner. Poor Freddie trod on what he thought was solid ground but was actually floating debris on the canal at Brentford Lock. Freddie went under the water .Because of all the rain & excess water British Waterways had opened a drain duct that takes the water out of the canal & into the river.Freddie's owner did not see him surface & is hoping that Freddie came up through the duct & out into the river where he could have got on to the bank & then ran off . Thank you for your post Riverlady ,I have mentioned this to Freddie's owner. He had already spoken to canal boat people but will now go & alert any rowing clubs on the river.Owner has spoken to British Waterways who have been quite helpful, DW, some vets , I have advised to click on our "Find a Vet" logo for more vets in the area.Battersea will be checked & I will send owner a email with info on local rescues. Posters have been put up as well. Just hoping that some information will come through about Freddie. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- When a dog gets dragged with the currents + tide in the river we ring the RNLI or if its by a rowing club the rowers come out and help in their little speed boats.
Have canal boat owners been alerted?
