I contacted Kenzie's mum for an update of Kenzie, she is really well and has adjusted to being a tripod really well, she is runnning and jumping as if she has all four paws, and mum is really pleased with her recovery - I have asked for a picture so that we can see how she is doing, hopefully we will have that in soon Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Absolutely delighted that Kenzie is doing so well after her operation - bless her, she probably thought she was entitled to the sofa after what she's been through LOL !   All very best wishes to her, I'm sure she'll quickly return to full health and happiness XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just wanted to add to everybody elses good wishes for dear little Kenzie.  I often walk with a friend who has a Westie that had a back leg amputated about three years ago, he had cancer in it. He is the happiest liveliest little dog you could find and more than keeps up with my two four legged girls. Thank goodness she was found in time and has such a loving family to look after her and nurse her back to full health. Much love xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Kenzie came home last night after an amazingly fast recovery- weak and wobbly but still managed to jump onto the sofa when i wasnt looking. I dont think she'll be disabled for long!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you Kenziesmum for letting us know the good news. I'm sure many of us have been calling in here over the last day or so. Sounds very good news to me - having had two three legged Greyhounds who lived absolutely normal lives until old age, I know she will be fine, and back to her old self in a few weeks or sooner. Well done kenziesmum and love to Kenzie x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

kenzie's mum - haven't posted before now as I didn't think there was anything constructive I could say, however Kenzie has been on my mind as I have a soft spot for Scotties.
However, I have had several three legged cats (back leg missing) and whilst I appreciate that there is a significant difference between cats and dogs, I just wanted to say that if you want any reassurance or just need to have a "three legged" conversation, please feel free to email me.  I can be contacted on haworth.catrescue@btinternet.com
Best wishes to you and little Kenzie.  She looks to be adorable.

Kenzie's mum - thank you for letting us know how Kenzie is - things are sounding much more positive now.  Scotties are tough little characters, and dogs do adapt extremely well to losing a limb.  I'm sure being back home, and all the TLC she will be getting, will all aid her recovery.  Thinking of you and dear little Kenzie - love and hugs to you X.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sending gorgeous little Kenzie 100% healing thoughts and loads of love. Thank goodness you found her. She is so lucky to be alive at all after being on the railway line. I wonder if she had been hit by a car and had then gone onto the rail track area, because it is a miracle if any animal would survive a train accident.  Come on Kenzie, we are all wishing you the best luck to get well. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Kenzie's mum I am so sorry that your little girl has been clipped by a train and is so very ill at the moment, by finding her though you have given her the very best chance to survive - she is obviously a little fighter to have made it this far, we will pray that the vets can stabilise her condition and that she will make a good recovery from her on in. Please stay strong we will all send healing thoughts for your little girl, I will try to call you tomorrow to see how she is.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Kenzie has been found but sadly my worse fears have been realised and she is seriously injured- she had got under the fence onto the railway line and was probably clipped by a train leading to a serious leg injury. As she has been missing for a week it is badly infected. She is very septic and it is touch and go if she will survive but we are keeping everything crossed .It is a miracle that she has lived through all the bad weather last week. Thanks to your excellent advice i had been down to the area where I last saw her, scenting and putting down food, when found this afternoon she had a full stomach on x ray!! Even though its not a happy ending it is such a relief to know what happened and to see her again. Many thanks for your help and support . Anyone free to help take down 100s of posters........Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a lovely little girl!  Its a very worrying time for you, some Scotties have a mind of their own and are not easy to spot, so Kenzie could be under cover somewhere.  May I suggest you call the Rail Company and ask them to let you know if they do find a dog hurt on the line, they are always very willing to do this.  Hopefully this will rule out the possibility and I hope Kenzie will be found safely very soon.  Lots of posters will with luck bring some sightings before long and we can advise as to what to do then to get her safely home.  Stay safe Kenzie. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Kenziesmum - being from the terrier family, Scotties do like hunting.  Could she have gone down a rabbit hole or, because Kenzie vanished so quickly, is it possible she may have fallen into a fox or badger hole?I am many miles away from where you live, but my thoughts are with you, and I am so hoping Kenzie is found safe and well very soon.      Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

can you poster the train staions along the line where she went missing.....if someone on a train see's her they can then be aware that she is missing and who to call... it might be a good idea to attach strips of paper with your phone no on so commuters can tear one off and keep it with them. good luck xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone thanks for all your help and support - sadly no news at all on Ken who has now been missing since saturday - She went missing from a small wooded area on the back of fields by the river in Henley called Mill meadows -just ran into the area in front of me and vanished - the wooded bit is backed by the railway line and there are many rabbits deer and foxes through the fence with several large holes where she could have got thru - once on the line she may have had to walk some distance before she could get off and this is a huge area of open fields and  large private estates- if she is here it is unlikely anyone would see her - done all the usual posters etc and just praying she is still alive!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope Kenzie is found soon. A lot of Scotties wont go off with starngers, it is a characteristic of the breed, so probably best if you poster and advise people to call you rather than try and catch her. Scent the area and put food down for her. Wish I was nearer to help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoken with owners this afternoon, Kenzie disappeared whilst on a walk along the riverside - she darted into a copse of trees and did not come out, I have advised leaving scented item of clothing in area incase she returns to the spot, the walk is bordered by the river on one side and a railway line on the other, owners have contacted rail people and no reports as yet. It is very out of character for Kenzie she normally sticks very close to mum, she is a former rescue dog and IS VERY NERVOUS OF MEN so if spotted please call owner and observe. Local and further afield dog wardens and vets  informed so now is a job for postering like mad in the hope that someone has taken her in.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry Kenzie has gone missing.  Can you please send photo a.s.a.p. so we can get posters done for Kenzie - email to admin@doglost.co.uk then you and helpers can print posters. You need to cover area with posters and contact local Dog Wardens and Kennels.  Your area Co-ordinator will prob post on here later with help & advice.  I have informed the Scottish Terrier Club (England) and STECS.  Hope Kenzie will be home very soon. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
