Hi Chris and Jen. It is my birthday today and your kind words mean so much to me. All of us here on Doglost do our best and when we get a result like this it makes it all so worth while. It is both a pleasure and a privelage to be involved in returning Peg to you and I will never stop looking for Tammy and Fizz. For those of you who are new to Doglost Tammy is missing dog 17045 and Fizz is missing dog 17148. Please look out for them in your area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This one moved me to tears, its so amazing the work that doglost followers do! I am so pleased that Peg is settling back in well by the sounds of it and its made my day as ive kept looking since Peg has been re-united to see how she was getting on.  When she went missing i was not aware of the website so please can somebody put on the id numbers of the other dogs that went missing with Peg so I am familiar with them and can keep my eye out for them too. Thanks and have a very happy life Peg it sounds like fate definatly took care of this one with the run of events that led to her being re-united...your one lucky girl!!!xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi i would just like to say a big thank-you to all that has stood by us and not given up on us or our girls,And as for Alison well words cannot express how we feel about this lady,Alison has given us hope when we were tired n flagging and then she found our beloved Peg! Thank you Alison you are the best! Over the last few days since fetching Peg home from those lovely friendly people at Grayhound Gap who we were glad to share our dream coming true with,Peg has been fitting her pretty little self right back in to ours n our other pets lives as though she has never been away bless her! With each day more of her old personality shows through and that includes the mischief she and our cat (who had missed n still adores her) have been getting into in our home while our heads are turned. But we still keep looking at her as we cannot believe we have been this lucky. we just hope and pray our other two girls will turn up soon too then our lives will once again be complete! Just want to say once again BIG THANK YOU to Alison and Lisa n co at Grayhound Gap and all who helped us get our Peg back home to us. Chris n Jen xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you GREYHOUND GAP for a beautiful write up there. It is so lovely to hear the full amazing story. Alison and other co-ordinators, and our DogLost helpers do a wonderful job in matching so many dogs up, but I truely beleive you are all angels at Gap, and someone was watching over little 'merry' Peg bless her. It would be lovely if we knew what she was thinking right now, but thank you for all the loving care you gave her. xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So relieved this little lady is back where she belongs she is a fabulous little dog. I had as always checked Dog Lost but the dog in the first picture did not look like the girl in our care, to leggy and the markings were different its only now I know that the picture isnt actually Peg which is why I didnt think. This little lady has indeed been a very lucky girl. She turned up in one of our regular pounds that we take all of the greyhounds and lurchers from once their 7 days are done if they dont have interest. Peg however did not move into our care as she is very broad and squat and the pound had her down as a crossbreed. Its only by chance that i visited the pound a week before Christmas to see another dog and spotted her and asked how come she wasnt in our care. She had been there 6 weeks and that day the staff had put a massive write up on her kennel to try and push for a new home as they didnt understand why she had not been rehomed. I had homes that would have suited her so moved her into Gaps care the next day. Again we have had a rough time at home with two un expected family deaths so the homing has been put on hold. Had that not happened the amount of interest this little lady has generated for sure we would have had her in a home in a heartbeat and then it would have been very difficult to re unite.
I truly believe she is back where she should be and all the events culminated to her landing in our care at a difficult time to allow her the time to get back home.
Good luck Chris and Jen and especially my Merry Little Peg, she is much loved by all and now has the extended back up of the Gap family for the rest of her life. Give her a massive cuddle from all of us and thanks also to Alison and all at DL xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great work Ashmark, nearly a year since they were stolen and one member of the family home, this family have never ever given up on their dogs and their persistance and perserverance has paid off for Peg, lets hope that the other 2 may also be traced. This reinforces the importance of good pictures on site as it has lead to 3 possibles being put forward this week. Fantastic News xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm still in shock Alison ! So very very well done again for spotting the match, and most of all for all the hard work you put in regularly searching these sights. You must have matched quite a few dogs now. And thank you so so very much to Lisa and all the fantastic people at Greyhound Gap for making this wonderful reunion possible - and for saving her in the first place, and giving her all the loving care to make this possible. I'm so over the moon - I'm jumping - cant wait for photos xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I should have guessed that the wonderful and caring Greyhound Gap was involved...! What a super bunch of people they are. Ashmark, remind me, Peg was stolen from Sleaford and so what area of the country did Jen & Chris collect her from? I'm just SO EXCITED. Peg looks so much like our Dexy (NZ Huntaway) and her markings so similar. Such a beautiful girl. I would have loved to have witnessed the reunion - plenty of tissues at the ready, eh?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have had a couple of text asking which one of the 3 possible matches turned out to be Peg. All 3 dogs were on Dogsblog Merymut spotted Blossom/Ruby Meeka spotted Gypsy I spotted Merry and she was the one. Chris and Jen would like to thank everyone for taking the time to look and post about possible matches but most of all would like to thank Greyhound Gap for saving their precious dog from death row. I look on Dogs blog and many other sites about 3 times a week and was just lucky that Peg appeared on there on one of those days. Tammy and Fizz were stolen along with Peg just hope we can find both of them now and make the family complete again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

we have just had news the dog running loose is a long haired so wont be peg a lady we spoke to through the internet has just rung us tonight saying some irish travellers are stopping near her an they have a white van. but today a dog which was stolen at the beginning of feb (ruffly same time as ours) has just been handed to a rescue centre from near them and it belonged to a woman at mansfield which isnt to far down the road from us she has gone to have a look at the van registration at the irish travellers  to see if its the same as the one we have and to see if it could be those who took our dogs. this thursday also stow horse fair is on and they always have a number of dogs there and many travallers have told us ours are most likely to turn up there but were not sure if we can make it there or not yet due to workLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoken to North Kesteven council. There has been another report of a lurcher this morning. It has been hanging about in a field just off the A607 between Navenby and Coleby for a couple of days.  Called Peg's owner and she is going over there asap. The guy who reported it tried to catch the dog but it was too timid.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just spoken to owners of this dog. They are doing all the right things to find her and the other 2 dogs that were stolen by 3 men in a large white van. The police have been informed, Lincs FM have put out an appeal and they have advertised in all the local newspapers. They are also sending details to rescue centres as far away as Leicestershire. Have sent contact details for Lincolnshire and the surrounding counties.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
