This one is with dog wardens in Chester. Unusual colour so might be worth checking.

hi - very sorry, I hadn't seen the posts about NOT putting up posters, and I'd already put them up on some of the entry points around the park late last night. I spoke to a warden at Richmond gate and the owner of the house just inside Sheen gate and they didn't seem to have any issues with the posting. I'm more than happy to go and take them down but I can't do that today, I could do it tomorrow though.

When we were searching we showed the poster I had laminated to park users and many photographed it. I will bring more on Saturday 30th. Only one cafe has said they would display (Pen Ponds cafe). The others said they had to check if they could have permission. The Visitor Centre at Pembroke Lodge has logged all the details in their incident book. The 150 Parks volunteer litter pickers are aware as are the Parks volunteer guides. As Dogs of Tooting has said we must NOT affix any posters to the Royal Parks infrastructure. They are being very helpful to us and are all doing what they can to find Hector. The word is out and hopefully we will see a very good turnout tomorrow.

Hello thank you so much for your help I am working with the parks office and the contractors who have been in that area today it was actually the assistant manager who was looking though the fenced areas . Have just asked can they do tomorrow as well we are not allowed to climb over . Any sounds I hear and can’t get to am liaising with them as we don’t want to get in the wrong side of the Royal parks and adhere to their rules . They and members of the public have been amazing as this is such a vast area to cover . I need everyone Involved in the search to read the Doglost article Dogs in survival mode . They act different they don’t recognise their owners as I have seen for myself . We have to be so careful and I have downloaded this and put in my quest for volunteers asking them all to read before joining the search party . Also there are posters in all the cafes in Richmond park as we are not allowed to put anywhere else . I am finding out if we are allowed any at gates . Don’t put up any posters unless you have permission. Thank you all once again for your support . Last edited: 2021-10-28 19:43:27 by Dogs of Tooting

Julie, I will aim to join the search party on Saturday. I seem to recall there was a small terrier lost in Richmond Park not that long ago, and it was found tucked up inside a hole in a tree. Hector could definitely have gone to ground in the area close to where he was last seen. I would suggest that if possible, we need somebody to get the Richmond Park wardens to allow us entry to the fenced off areas of Pond Plantation & Sidmouth wood. If he's running free and out in the open, given the numbers of walkers, joggers and cyclists that area attracts, I'm guessing there'd have likely had more sightings. I'm wondering if he's still in the park, whether he's gotten into one of those fenced off areas and not able to get out. Also, I'm going to print off some of the posters and fix them to all the entry points to the park - hopefully today. Sadly I won't have time to take any posters to the cafes and the carparks inside the park but if somebody else could do that, I think it'd be a great help.

From Dogs of Tooting - "Update after two days we have had a few sight and sounds so we are hopeful. This is a hard task as such a vast area and it’s rutting season . So we have to be careful of the Deer . I am organising a search on Saturday at 930 am . At this car park -SpankersHill wood by the penponds cafe. If anyone can attend
Would be great if you can’t attend and do go to Richmond . Please keep eye out
.Do not chase is the most important thing ever ."

Searched more around Pen Ponds this evening. Owner had a call to say that a dog walker was certain they’d heard a Daschund barking in Sidmouth woods so walked through and around the woods with the owner. No joy. If anybody is walking their dog in RP this week, can they go to the area in & around Sidnouth wood in case Hector is in there.

Went searching around Pen Ponds in Richmond Park from 8pm-10pm last night. Had an ultra strong head torch, unfortunately didn't see anything but heard some very noisy ducks/geese around the bottom end of Pen Ponds. Contacted the owner and suggested a search of the fenced off area at the bottom as Hector could potentially have gotten in there, and not be able to get out. Tried as best as I could to check all streams/bodies of water in case Hector had gotten stuck, to no avail. Good luck to all those involved in the search.

Are there no coordinated search parties ? It’s such a huge area. I could join a search Friday morning

Just heard Hector went missing by the main pond so likely to be PEN PONDS area. Dog walkers need to be aware and a co-ordinated search organised from the point of entry the dog walker took to where Hector was last seen. He will be in survival mode if still in the Park, or his harness could be snagged on bracken. Just seen another poster for him which says he was wearing a red coat. Clarification is needed please whether harness / red coat or both and was his lead attached?Last edited: 2021-10-26 14:12:31 by Julie Dogs

Will tweet to local folk and post on local FB groups. Unless picked up by anyone he will be in the Park. Have you told the Royal Parks at Pembroke Lodge and Royal Parks Police? Whereabouts in Richmond Park did he go missing? Which is the nearest gate?
