Glad to to read another dog is home safely....i'm trying to read only the happy endings here knowing our Jacob is still lost. We have had a lot of wrong breeds, (for our Bracco Italiano) - one lady said quite frankly that if she had seen him, she would know right away that of course, he was a Spaniel ! Quite worrying really, what would others say he looked like if someone asked them I wonder ? Hmmmmmm ShelleyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks again for another great find by Dog Lost. In my defence for the ID I have never seen a Foxhound with a wirey coat and one thats all cream, after extensive searches on the internet the only match I could come up with for her was a Labradoodle, in fact she is extremely similar to doodles! I originally thought she was a cross gun dog. I always check if there is a breed I have not come across before or thats a difficult cross to determine. She needed vet treatment and he said she looked like a Labradoodle. When to owner called in to me to report her missing the description did not match. I think lessons can be learnt to not take descriptions from owners and finders as gospel, I once had a woman say that a Lhasa Apso was a Bearded Collie and would not have it that it wasnt! Thanks again on another great job Dog LostLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a shame Prudence doesn't know the comfort of a home and is kept in kennels, perhaps she went looking for a nice home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home Prudence!! Had to have a little giggle there but on a serious note it does bring to the forefront the mistakes that can be made when trying to determine certain breeds and its definitely something that owners of lost dogs need to remember, always where possible physically check out any found dogs yourself, don't always rely on whats been documented.

e mail from owner:   Hi,

Not sure if this is the right e mail address, apologies if not, but just to let you know that Prudence is now safe and happy back with the rest of the pack in Kennels.

Many thanks for your help, we were beginning to think we'd lost her forever!! Apparently there were five or six people waiting to rehome her- as she's never ever been in a house, it could have been very interesting!!

Thanks again,

Regards,

Sarah
