- I'm so pleased to hear that Hywel is back home safe and sound and none the worst for his mini adventure. A big THANK YOU and well done to his finder(s) and to the kennels for helping to make sure that Hywel returned to his family. And what a lovely surprise birthday present for Daniel - HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANIEL! Just one small request, could Hywel have a nice new shiny ID tag on his collar to compliment his chip as a welcome home present?!

- Hi All, Thanks for all your help these last 12 days, I can now confirm that we've thankfully found Hywel - I just collected him from Lodge Kennels in Baldock (thank you Margaret for contacting us so promptly, and thanks to the family who found him and handed him in). Joyfully reunited with our 3 children - a happy coincidence as it is also our youngest's 7th birthday today (see...sometimes that wish you make when you blow out the candles does come true!). Thanks again, we've really appreciated all your help and support. Kind regards, Paul, Lynne, Jessica, George and Daniel (7 today!), and of course Hywel xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

email from helper
I am so sorry to hear that you have lost Hywel. I will keep a look out and let all my customers in the area know. If you have not done so it would be a good idea to notify all rescue centres, even ones that are not in the local area as dogs are sometimes found many miles from where they live. It may be worth putting a notice in the local newspaper, someone may be looking after him. If he is a nervous type it is more likely that he is hiding somewhere waiting for you to come and find him.
Don't give up, he is out there somewhere
Best of luck, Laura

- BC's often go to ground when something has spooked them. Keep returning to the area she bolted from, she will probably return there. Put some food down too. . Keep scenting to keep her there. Also, is she usually walked from home to this area because she may well just turn up of her own accord. Good luck, hope she is home soon.

- cross posted to border collie world can you get a colour ad in the bedford times and citizen this thursday (watch out for the deadline could be tuesday) pets section lost and found.. offer a reward as not everyone just cares about the dog. have been postering today.. sainsbury's kempston..kempston indoor pool.. kempston indoor bowling club..hillgrounds road..st.johns school kempston.. have also been for a walk along the river from kempston to bedford.... have only seen 3 posters up down there... it is really important to get hundreds of posters up down there as it is a very busy well used footpath route, every person that see's a poster will then be aware that hywel is missing and if they see him they then know how to contact you... i would really also recommend adding a reward here to the posters as this will be a lot of peoples motivation for returning hywel.bedford town centre should also be heavily postered as he could have been there withtin minutes of running off. please also contact the railway authorities so they are aware of hywel..i noticed the phone number on one of the bridges down there. microchips are sometimes missed when scaning a dog so please phone dog warden..vets..kennels..rescue centres on a daily basis as they only have to keep him for 7 days before either rehoming him or having him put to sleep...get posters down to these places too it will help keep their eyes open if they have met and spoken to you and not just had a phonecall. i will continue to walk the area hywel went missing in.......and will poster too. we could really do with some helpers to poster in bedford town centre please. xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi I?m sorry to hear your dog is missing. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres?local council stray dogs holding kennel give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars.., If you can go down there each day to check for your dog that is the best thing as they only have to hold a dog for 7 days before it can legally be rehomed or in some cases destroyed. It is also worth contacting the local police as if someone has found your dog they may well have contacted them. email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo please if you haven?t already. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Get postering now?..as quickly and as many as you can physically manage. make sure you offer a reward on the posters. POSTER POSTER POSTER!!!?I cannot emphasize how important this is, from the posters you will get sightings and lots of extra pairs of eyes looking out for your dog. Poster bus stops, train stations, supermarket/retail park car parks, pet shops petrol stations, lay by snack vans, service stations, bins, poo bins, shopping centres, take away outlets, pubs, lamposts, caf?s, leisure centre?s,??.basically anywhere people go you need to poster like mad so nobody misses them? ask in as many places as you can if they will display a poster for you. Tell postman and binmen and give them a poster so they have your phone no handy? infact tell every single person you meet while searching as the more people know the much better chance of getting your dog back quickly. Contact the local newspaper and radio stations? take out an advert with a photo in the papers pets section lost and found and make sure you offer a reward!. Good luck xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
