Basil is on Facebook and has been added to 'Please look out for these missing dogs in Cornwall' Its now been going a while and has run out of steam but his picture has been on my page and friends would see it. However he is from Devon, and maybe a new page would be a good idea for him? Good luck with the search. I hope you find him soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Email back from Basil's owner: "Nothing as yet.  We now firmly believe that he has been stolen as there are a few reports of other dogs going missing in the area.  We have sent posters to all vets within a 50 mile radius of here so now we just have to sit back and wait.  I carry out a weekly check of the rescues and other related places within Cornwall , Devon, Somerset and Dorset .  My next step is probably to advertise in local papers within the areas to try and prompt a response.  Thanks for your support"Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has emailed an update. There have been no sightings of Basil since his disappearance, despite daily searches. He is described as an extremely friendly dog who readily goes up to people. Have emailed further advice to see if we can pull in some sightings.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner, please let us have a photo as soon as you can.  You are right on the county border there so your lovely dog may well end up in either the Dogs Trust kennels near Ilfracombe, OR at St Giles kennels near Taunton. I know both are miles away from you but those are the local kennels which accept stray dogs.  Please poster as far and wide as you can - when you have sent us a photo posters can be made up for you to downloadLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I?m sorry to hear your dog is missing. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres?local council stray dogs holding kennel give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars.., If you can go down there each day to check for your dog that is the best thing as they only have to hold a dog for 7 days before it can legally be rehomed or in some cases destroyed. It is also worth contacting the local police as if someone has found your dog they may well have contacted them. email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo please if you haven?t already. You can only print posters when you are signed in. Get postering now?..as quickly and as many as you can physically manage.  POSTER POSTER POSTER!!!?I cannot emphasize how important this is, from the posters you will get sightings and lots of extra pairs of eyes looking out for your dog. Poster bus stops, train stations, supermarket/retail park car parks, pet shops petrol stations, lay by snack vans, service stations, bins, poo bins, shopping centres, take away outlets, pubs, lamposts, caf?s, leisure centre?s,??.basically anywhere people go you need to poster like mad so nobody misses them? ask in as many places as you can if they will display a poster for you. Tell postman and binmen and give them a poster so they have your phone no handy? infact tell every single person you meet while searching as the more people know the much better chance of getting your dog back quickly. Contact the local newspaper and radio stations? take out an advert with a photo in the papers pets section lost and found. If you believe your dog has been stolen then it is very important you contact the police for a crime reference number?. And the postering publicity should have the aim of not only getting your dog home but making it too hot to handle.   Cross posted to www.Labradorforums.co.uk www.Labradorks.co.uk Good luck xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
