- MERRY THE COCKER SPANIEL
Last Friday, Merry an old cocker spaniel with health problems went missing from his home in Farley Green. Help was offered to do the social media for his owners as they're not on Facebook and the response was overwhelming. The social media helper had no idea how amazing DogLost is, or DronesSAR for Lost Dogs (they send out local drone pilots with heat sensitive drones), tracker dogs who go out looking for lost pets (although they do charge). The Shere Community Board was also amazing and of course all the animal lovers who shared posts, sent kind comments, who went out searching themselves.
As it happens, after three days and two nights stuck down a rabbit hole in his own garden (it's a very big garden), Merry was found, rushed to a veterinary hospital and finally came home again yesterday. He was invisible from above, stuck fast down the hole and only started whimpering on Sunday evening (apparently this is quite common). Merry was found late on Sunday after two nights and three days stuck down a rabbit hole – a huge relief! Merry's family wanted to send this short message to thank everyone in the local community and elsewhere who posted and shared on social media and took an interest in Merry's wellbeing – and, in many cases, who spent time searching for Merry.
"We were overwhelmed and greatly touched by the response. Thank you all so much! It was a tremendous support to know that so many kind people near and further afield were thinking of Merry and doing everything they could to help. Merry spent Sunday night in hospital but is now back home and doing as well as anyone could expect after his ordeal – trotting about and taking some food and of course receiving even more fuss and attention than normal! - Drone SAR have been made aware and owner expecting a visit...Have also passed on jenny tracking dogs number to owner. Merry suffers from Cushings disease and owner has 8 acres of land to search... and as such could be hiding somewhere on his land...advise given.
