Only just been alerted to this post - have left message for Valgrays - if the dog they are referring to is Kerrygold then No, it's not Mr Oates and so glad Kerrygold has found his hopefully forever sofa.  Thank you so much for thinking of Mr Oates.  Finger still crossed for his safe return one day.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you Smarri, any help would be fantastic - we have heard nothing about this boy since he was taken, not sure which way to turn now but if you could keep your eyes open for him that would be great. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi smarri - and welcome. Thank you for registering as helper and for posting on here. We would be so glad of your help. So many dogs going missing in your area including beautiful Mr Oates who is so very much loved, and wanted home. Everyone has worked really hard for him here, and no news whatso-ever. Any help at all would be very gratefully received, and brilliant that you will keep a look out in the area. Thanks. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I am a ranger with Hampshire County (and a lurcher owner too) based out of Basingstoke. I saw the posters today and investigated the website. I am out and around North Hampshire pretty much everyday so I will keep a look out for you. Regards.

Thanks for this Angus, all publicity greatly appreciated. Small paragraph in the Basingstoke Gazette at the end of a big story about the three stolen whippet puppies WITHOUT A PHOTO - I'm so angry I could scream, they assured me they would put a photo in, what's the use of saying he's a tan lurcher, he is but so are thousands of others - they're getting a call first thing Monday from Mrs Stroppy!  I know the whippets were more news worthy but even so!  Lets hope CW brings something our way.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Yasa - as usual a huge thank you to everyone at DL for their help, I hope CW can bring us at least a clue.  Still active at getting the news out, lots of posters round strategic areas and a few helpful calls starting to come in - fingers crossedLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A request for Mr Oates to go in Countrymans was logged this morning, so he is definitely on the list now, and hopefully will only be a couple of weeks. Hope he is home before then though. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Maggie's Mum. No problems with Countryman's weekly. We can certainly put him forward for that if it hasnt already been done. I will check on the list and if Mr Oates is not on there, I will put him on. It usually takes two, three, four weeks to get in, but well worth trying. Will check for you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Really sorry that hopes were raised down here, but, as we all know, it is always worth taking the time to try all possibilities.  Sending positive thoughts for him and for you all.  Mx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi OldGreyMan - after lots of phone calls with a very helpful Cotswold DW we were so sure this was Mr Oates, planning on jumping in the car and speeding up there but then we finally got the photos and sadly it wasn't the dog, we were so sure, it was a huge let down.  We really need some more publicity hence the plea to put him in CW.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Maggies Mum.  I think it possible that this dog has been re-united, but worth you checking if you know owner. Lurcher found in Glos last Wednesday - taken in by Cotswold Dog Warden.  Owner's details given to D/Warden who spoke to him and I heard today that they had been re-united, though I believe it wasn't clear at the time he was found that the description matched. I didn't see the dog, but gave the 'finders' the DogLost site details for owner and know the Dog Warden spoke to him.  A bit out of my area, but I know neighbours of the 'finders'.  Regards M.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Any chance this boy can go in the Countrymans Weekly as soon as possible?  Following up a few leads but nothing concrete at the moment - he is in this weeks Basingstoke Gazette and a couple of other local papers have promised to run the story - gearing up to send posters to all vets.  Any help / advice anyone can offer would be great - the owner has no transport / internet so its difficult for him to do muchLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Couple of possible sightings yesterday around Hackwood Park which we followed up but saw nothing, left bed/food, smelly socks and shirt in a big stack of straw in the middle of a huge field, went to check this morning but they had vanished, local farmers/gamekeepers didn't do it so who did?! Big point to point at Hackwood today, massive flyer campaign on 100's of cars, big laminated posters on the gate, lots of other posters on loos etc, word is certainly getting out and about - owners got more local info which he will follow up but hard not having transport.  ANY IDEAS ANYONE - HELP DESPERATELY NEEDED -Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Yasa, we're waiting for a crime number from the police.  If you could send me flyers that would be great.  Both postcodes are fine, the house he was stolen from is slap bang on the division line, thanks for your help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Maggie's Mum - I am getting the postcode as SO24 not RG25. Could you confirm you agree with that please? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you for logging Mr Oates with us. What a shame this lovely dog has been stolen. I'm sure you will explain to your friend that they need to get a crime number from the police, and inform all other authorities in case Mr Oates gets free from those that took him. Posters can be printed now, by clicking on DOG POSTER 1 just above the dogs details boxes on the left hand side. You have to be logged in to do this. I hope someone can help the owners get as many up as quickly as possible. Please tell them to try to get the pubs and pub car parks done tonight, as this is where many dogs get sold on. Would it help if flyers were made up and sent to you maggie's mum?  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog belongs to a friend of mine who has no internet access nor transport so PLEASE we need all the help we can get.  Mr Oates was definately stolen yesterday at 4pm, he is not chipped or tagged.  He has black in his tail and black eye liner, his right ear sits differently from his left and his ears are not co-ordinated, one up and one down, then the other way around, they don't do things together.  He answers to the name Oatsie, phone on poster is owners but can also call me on 07732 497221.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
