We all could not be happier this fella made it home, We dont know what happened to Deasel but Maria at Lynton has worked so hard to bring him around and Im sure his recovery will be swift now he is back home. Well done Jo and Doglost for all the hard work and tons of phonecalls trying to get this dog home, it had been a very fraught few days!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What wonderful news and, once again, a huge THANK YOU to the brilliant Basildon DW - you really are an absolute star. Also thanks to the rescue kennels who was helping this handsome lad. I always love it when we get one of our Rottie boys or girls home. Welcome home Deasel!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am thrilled to bits to be able to say DEASEL IS HOME!!!!! His owners were alerted to a found Rottie listed on Doglost by the Basildon DW back in August. We didn't hear anything from Deasel's owners at the time then she recently posted on the found dogs page as she thought it looked very much like Deasel. Extremely lucky for her, the dog was still at the kennels as he had some issues which were being worked on before he was rehomed, but all distinguishing features matched so it was looking very promising. Owner met the kennel people and the dog today and wow wow wow, it was Deasel! Lots of tears apparently and a fantastic outcome. Once again another success thanks to the great Basildon DW working with Doglost, thank you Sarah. And also a massive thanks to Lynton Kennels who have looked after Deasel since he was found in Basildon back in August, taking the time and working with him to help him deal with the issues he had. A great happy ending all round which has certainly made my day and just goes to show what can be achieved with everyone working together. I'll try and get a reunited piccie.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

3 months since Deasel went missing - any news?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

At the risk of sounding stupid due to the distance but I saw a similar rottie at a DW kennel and he was wearing a blue collar - they are suppose to check for micro chipping though. It is in the Northwest, UK. I know it is such a long way but I would rather point out the rottie and it be wrong than not say anything and it was the lost rottie in question. Go to www.hyndburnstraydogsinneed.co.uk and click on the dogs rehomed and they named him Hank, there is an option to enalrge the photo but I am not sure about the dew claws.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Similar photo now on site. Deasel's tan markings are not as prominant as they are on some Rotties. Also he has no dew claws. Hopefully Deasel's owner will be along to post an update later. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everyone. I have been in touch with the owner. Confirmed that ID 17416 was a duplication so I have now deleted that one, and all details on Deasel's page here are correct. Deasel's owner has no photos of Deasel as they were on their mobile which has been stolen. I have sent some 'similar photos' from our photo library so will await their response on which is the best likeness. We can then use that on site and for the posters. Deasel is still missing and there have been no sightings. I will make sure they are aware of all the useful local information that has been posted on Deasel's page and ask them to update. Will also reiterate the need to contact everyone again with the new mobile number....microchip comp, dw, vets, kennels etc. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Amberpaws, yes I did read the other comments on #17416 and it does look the same. I am basing my search information on Holland Road but I lived all my secondary school years in Holland on Sea and did a number of paper rounds so I know that area like the back of my hand. Would be good to hear from the owner to see if the search is still on, the offer of help is here!

Gazza, have you looked at 17416 as this does seem to be the same dog reported over a month ago? It seems very strange that if Deasel is still missing the owner hasn't been back with more information or a picture.  I'm not too far away & could also help but think we do need a bit more info.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can the owner please clarify the road/location? Holland Road is predominantly in Clacton and people often muddle it with Frinton Road that runs through and out off Holland on Sea towards the marshes.
It seems unlikely a dog this size would still be roaming free in such a heavily populated area so there is a good chance someone might have taken him in.
You should try to get into the shops on the High Street section that runs between Carnavon Road and Granville Road and ask the shop keepers and get posters up in the windows. Coming out of town backtowards Holland on Sea there is the Gallery gym, Southcliff Post Office near the County High and the newagents opposite Holland Park Primary School. There is also a Walking Bus that goes along this road and collects children and parents along the way. The schools start again next Monday so well worth getting some posters up on lampposts.
I know a couple of people who live on some of the roads that come off Holland Road so I will ask them as well.
Good luck in your search!

Does look like same Deasel.  If only we could get a photo I could send to people who may help and check Rescues, etc. as they don't seem to recognise dogs without a proper picture these days!  Or better still an owner to identify them....  Will tell Pampered Pets anyway. Email sent to owner. Please ensure you contact Westend Kennels, 01449 737641, as they kennel the stray dogs picked up in Tendring Council areas. I would advise you to visit them in person, preferably taking a poster including a photo of your dog that you can leave with them. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
