I’m sorry to have to say that we believe we have just been to see the body of what we believe is Rufus, having been found in the river on Saturday. Although we are not 100% we will be closing this post as we are as confident as we think it’s possible to be. RIP Rufus ❤️

Unfortunately a body has been recovered from the river close to where rufus was last seen when in the care of his fosterer. It appears the body could have been in the water since he went missing although it is not possible to confirm this is definately rufus due to decomposition it could be highly likely from the description. Its is hoped a post mortem will give more information on cause of death, time in water etc.

I work for the dog rescue Rufus is under the care of. The drone Sar volunteer as far as I am aware opened the find Rufus page and when drone to home were getting involved again they archived the page so there was no conflict between the two drone companies. Any help from experienced volunteers has never been rejected as we want to find Rufus and wish everyone could work together to find him. We have no experience ourselves in searching for lost dogs apart from using experienced helpers that’s why we want them to help. Drone to home have never been told they are taking over the search as we want collaboration between as many people who can help please. Drone to home were asked to contact the search volunteer who was coordinating the search. Now they aren’t keen to search until we have a confirmed sighting so we have been approached by Drone Sar who have offered to take up our ask for help.

Unfortunately the local dog lost volunteers and a drone sar volunteer who were all actively helping were blocked from seeing find rufus posts and told that drone to home would be taking over looking for rufus. Volunteers have since been unblocked but it appears there is preference to who is invòlved. Help from several experienced volunteers has been rejected.

Graham from Drone SAR rang back as he has loads of pilots in the area...He did say pilots have been out at the beginning but were awaiting sightings to help again...Now that they are aware there are sightings please do contact them via their FB page which do have records of Rufus to update.

Last reported sightings of Rufus,to DSAR was 5 weeks ago we have had no reported sightings since. We need all information to be posted onto his post on the group. When other groups are set up for any particular dog and all information then goes onto these groups there is very little DSAR can do about it with no updated information.

We have had photos of Rufus in Lincoln west for 10 days and have contacted drone teams but cannot get a drone pilot out to help search the area for him. Does anyone know any local to that area that may be kind enough to help please❤️ it's week 7🥴 thankyou!:)
