- Thank goodness and well done to the finder! Also thanks and well done to everyone who was involved in the search for Sicily. Could someone please ensure that this precious little girl gets proper recall training - 5 weeks just isn't long enough?! My dog training friend insists on owners using a long line until nigh perfect recall is achieved, especially as the roads around Blackheath are very busy. Welcome home Sicily!

- Hi All, I've had confirmation from Simon that the owner Doreen Dukes has now got her dog back, it had been found by a dog walker in the park. She seems to be ok other than being very skinny etc. Many thanks to everyone for their help & support, offers of traps etc - thanks to all the Doglost ladies also. - I'm so sorry to hear that this beautiful girl is missing. I'm in Beckenham and so let me know if I can do anything 'this end'. I vaguely know the park and yes it's very large but good, in a way, as I'm fairly certain that Sicily would stay in the immediate area. There is a cafe close to the Observatory and so make sure you speak to the staff there and hand out mini-flyers (just request them from us, if you need them) to the customers. I would imagine that there is a very good and close dog walking fraternity in the park and so hope it won't be long until Sicily is caught. Also, there is a regular market in Dulwich (entrance furthest away from the Observatory). I've only ever been there at the weekend, but I have a feeling there are stalls there most days and an indoor/covered market. I don't know the names of the pubs but there are plenty near the market and the Cutty Sark and so don't forget to include them. Good Luck!

- In addition this Italian Greyhound bitch was a rescue of sorts and is quite nervous. She has been with the current owners for around 5 weeks and prior to this stayed with Simon Bulpin so is known to him & another of my Italian members also. (Both of them dropped everything and came to help me search Greenwich Park earlier today as soon as I rang asking if Simon knew if anyone had lost an Italian! unfortunately the owner had not reported the loss to anyone other than putting up a couple of notices out on Blackheath). The bitch's name is now Sicily and may/may not answer to Sizzy/Suzy etc... Please contact Simon Bulpin's mobile number 07961 339041 (or Michelle on 07841 517533 and I can get a message to him). The photos were taken by my Son as I was trying to climb into the no-entry water reservoir area so they are not as clear as we would like but until we manage to get any clearer ones online unfortunately they are all we have. Thanks for assistance - I'll update as & when necessary. Mich Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- The owner had informed us at Greenwich Park today that her dog had been missing since her husband lost it on Blackheath on Sunday morning, it has been established tonight that the dog was lost on SATURDAY morning after Simon spoke with the owner's husband.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Info from Simon Bulpin 2300 : "owner received a call from Greenwich Parks police at 8.10pm stating that dog had been sighted near the Observatory at about 8 o'clock" unfortunately the owner did not inform Simon until 2300 so we were unable to do anymore at that point. Greenwich Park is locked up overnight and the gates are locked at 7pm. Poster emailed out to all local members of www.rubyscrumptious.com tonight and posted on members forum... info passed to Italian Greyhound club members by Simon Simon (who lives in East London) will be attending Greenwich Park at 0745 in the morning. - 11.20pm Have spoken to Michelle who is extremely worried about the dog having only been with her new owners for five weeks. Owners are also elderly, and area sighted in is massive. The other worry is the lead is still attached. Now this could be a benefit or a disaster. I have explained the importance of scenting and have suggested setting up two feeding stations with water and smelly food, one at area of loss, and one where sighted today. We dont know if she is too exhausted to get back to where she was lost from. We will try to get some better posters made up for tomorrow. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Copied from circumstances box:- Ran off from elderly owner's husband, lead still attached - dog sighted by me today in Greenwich Park very thin - Greenwich Park Police informed + Italian Greyhound owners who originally helped place this rescue dog came up to Greenwich Park to help us look for her with Mrs Dukes the owner. Photos taken of dog today.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Owner - I have emailed you scenting guidelines. Hopefully by laying scent and leaving food and water you can keep her in the area she was last seen. She is probably exhausted from running, but when rested she will be looking for food. Good Luck. I do hope she is found safe soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- The photos were taken today as you can see the dog is in a bad way, please help look for her if you are local. We have spent all afternoon looking around Greenwich Park after I sighted her inside the "Water Reservoir" area (by the Tennis courts) - unfortunately although very weak and finding it difficult to stand as soon as we tried to get into the no-entry area to get to her she scarpered thru the fencing and ran off thru the park. Various sightings around the park today and yesterday. Unfortunately the owner had put posters up around the Blackheath itself but had not thought she would make it as far as Greenwich Park. Luckily I had Italian Greyhound contacts on my local Toy Group and it turned out that one of my members had rehomed the dog with the elderly owner so we all searched the park this afternoon. The Parks Police were very good and have the description etc. Please forward posters locally. We are hoping to get posters up in Greenwich Park & Simon Bulpin (the first mobile number on the poster) will be dealing also. Many thanks, Michelle www.rubyscrumptious.com 07841 517533 Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
