- Just a note to say that Chase's Mum and Dad have had a bouncing baby boy called Pierce on 28th August. All are well and Chase loves his baby 'brother' and is looking after him very tenderly. Congratulations to Chrissy and Jon, it's lovely to have some more good news from you all. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- From Chrissy, I want to first express my deep appreciation for everyone's support here on doglost. It really has made a difference. My husband and I are so grateful for this wonderful organization. Your comments really touched us deeply. As for Chase, he is doing very well. Having Chasey reunited with on my B-day is such a blessing and wonderful suprise. My husband is out of town for a whole month, and says he can't wait to see Chase again when he get's back. As for the perpetrators, they will be charged for theft. I got a call on the 2nd of June from a young woman who wanted to remain anonymous, and told me she had seen one of the posters, and noticed that concidently, one of her neighbors had recently showed up with a BCollie about 2 weeks or so that looked identical to Chase. She was also able to identify some distingushing marks on his front paws. I then got the address, and phoned the police, who told me, to give them a call back as soon as I could identify the dog as mine, and then they could take it from there. The lady told me, that this particular family usually walked him around 4pm. Coincidentally, I arrived at the village of Gislingham around 3:30 pm, where as I was walking on the block, I spotted him with this woman. At that moment, I tried to get a better look without him or her noticing. I was almost 99% positive that it ws him. I then called the police, but by the time they arrived, no one was at the residence. The police went a second time that day, but still no one was home. Eventually I got a call the next day around 1100 am, where they told me they had found a match, and it was definently Chase. What a relief!!! First off, the ladies had lied to the police, telling them they had acuqired the dog from an old lady who had just given them the dog. Then they said to the police, that the truth was that, they found him in some park in Thetford, wandering around by himself and they pity on him, and brought him home. Either way, the police told me, they were convinced. Apparently they finally admitted that they knew what they did was wrong, but they had just gotton attached to the dog, and never had any intentions of turning him in. The police told me that their will be further interrogations, and hopefully we will know how Chase went missing from Stanton to Gislingham, or Stanton to Thetford, which the latter seems unlikely, as Thetford is quite aways, and he would have had to have crossed at some point the A-11 or A-143 I can't remember. I'm glad these people will be punished, and hopefully they learn their lesson. Once again, a special thanks to everyone, and of course especially to Jimi and Roger. Everytime I read the comments on the thread, I was sincerely touched. Chrissy and Jon........ Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Just an update for today Chrissy's birthday, which she has spent with Chase by her side. She has bathed, groomed and generally spoilt him before their birthday barbecue together. Our present of a toothbrush which Chrissy wanted for Chase and a toy for him is on its way to them! Chase is fine and Chrissy has asked me to thank everyone for their help and support. It's been such a pleasure to know Chrissy and John, and I look forward to meeting Chase soon. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Update from Chrissy Hello everyone, well we got more news on a possible sighting of Chase. Jimi and her husband came out today to help. We ran into a lady as we were in a footpath, who told us that her daughter's friend remembered seeing an older man with a BC that looked just like Chase, who had no collar and was not on a leash. The odd thing, was that the little girl mentioned, he had called the dog Chase. She gave us the location, where her daughter's friend said she saw the man walking the dog. Later on, we ran into another young lady, with a dog, who said, she remembered seeing an older man with a dog, whom she recalls had never been seen with a dog until about a week ago. I gave both ladies my info, and told them, if they saw this person, or know where the area, is that he is most likely to freguent, to please give me a call. I sense that we may be close. We immedielty went to the location where this person was seen walking the dog, and immedietly recognized the area, because we have a poster in that vicinity. I didnt' see the individual. I talked to a man their, with two dogs, that told me their are two individuals in the area, who have BC , but are much older, and have been their a while. I told him to be on the lookout, and hopefully I'm able to spot this individual. I wouldn't like to think that this person is deliberetly keeping him, but like I mentioned before, Chase is is very friendly and loves human interaction. On the other hand, it could be quite possible, that Chase is still out on the wild, but I dont' know. Either way, we put food, water and made a little nest in the area of the grundle where he was seen. Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Update, I talked to Mrs. Carthorne this morning, who actually spotted Chase on Wednesay morning while she was gardening. Apparetly she saw him chasing a rabbit in their little woods nearby.....He looked well, and fit, and was going really fast. Jimi and I are going to search this afternoon, in hopes that we track him down. Please wish us luck! If anybody can come down and help, that would be great. Apparently, from their house, it really is only a mile from home, so he is close........Hopefully we will have him home this weekend...... Follow good advice below - lie low, whimper softly, etc. Keep smelly food in pocket and put pilchards out at feeding station which he will smell easily + familiar bedding and things which smell of you in quiet place if poss. And get as many more posters up as you can so you can get more sightings of Chase. Good luck. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- A few tips when a dog has been out a while. They become very suspicious of everyone, including owners and there will not be instant recognition. So please dont chase him or expect him to run up to you immediately if you see him. The best thing is for you, or anyone who sees him, to lay down and whimper like an injured animal. Curiosity will bring her in. Stay down below her height and offer a treat, try to avoid direct eye contact. Give her a few minutes to adjust Good luck

- Everything crossed he soon realises who you are and comes back to you. When Miss Lu the Heeler was missing a couple of weeks ago, she was only gone two days but it took her a while to recognise her owners, as they very soon become disorientated. Good luck with your search.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- News on Chase, From Owner Hi Everyone, well finally we got some news on a sighting on my beloved Chase. The Carlise, ( owners of Wyken Vineyards) got a call today from one of their tenants, who said they spotted a black and white dog wandering in their yard. Mrs. Carlise immedietly called me, and told me, that one of her employees, went out to the area, to try to lure him in with treats, and called his name, which is when he started to run away. The lady, Mrs. Angie came to pick me up, ( can you all believe that my car is not working to top it all off ) and took me to the location where he was last spotted by her, apparently it's across Honeymeade Court, in a place they called the grundle ( which is also a wooded footpath. ) I called his name, and walked the footpath, but nothing. We also came back to the area, as soon as my husband got home. I would agree that he is definently lost, while the area is only a good 4 to 5 miles from home, it is covered with fields, and woods, which would make it difficult. I went back early afternoon, as soon as my husband got home, to drop off a bowl of food , in case he comes back to the area. At least he is alive, and the people who saw him, ahave said they are 80-90% sure, it was him they saw. It is not like Chase to just run away from people, as he is friendly, but then 7 days in the wilderness, could have affected him. I hope we are definently close...... Thank you all for you prayers.......Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- An appeal for people to look out for Chase has appeared on Radio Suffolk. I have sent poster to Botesdale PO/shop who are kindly putting it up and flyers to hand out and also to Watsons Pottery, Wattisfield who said they will do same. Have sent posters to Dogs Trust Snetterton, Wood Green Animal Shelter, Jerry Green Animal Sanctuary and others. Wyken Vineyard has poster in shop, also Stanton PO. Chase needs his medication and it is now urgent that Chase should be found and reunited with his family. - Well done Chrissy, you are working very hard to get Chase home and I do hope it won't be long now. I have emailed Francine Raymond at the Kitchen Garden, Troston and asked her to put a poster up. Also Pakenham Water Mill. I do not know email address of Watsons Pottery at Wattisfield but it may be an idea to get one up there if you can. Anywhere people go, including all the Tourist attractions and places in Bury centre. Also the Pickerell pub in Ixworth and other pubs in area - ask them to put flyers on the bar for people to take, plus drop them off at Vets to put on notice boards. I did mention the postman and sorting office. It was nice talking to you and I hope you will be reunited with Chase soon. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
