Today has been one of those days that we are still trying to get our heads around... so tragic we just don't know where to start.
Today we collected "Margot" the Old English Bulldog from kennels after being picked up as a stray 7 days ago. She spent all that time there waiting for her owners to collect her, but they didn't come. We had a fantastic foster home lined up for her with Gema who has taken many of our dogs and turned their lives around so they can be ready for a forever home. Sadly she was taken ill on the journey, and started having breathing difficulties. Although this is common with the breed, it wasn't easing up in her foster home. We noticed some blood in her mouth so we took her into the emergency vets where she was given oxygen, meds and put on a drip for a few hours. Sadly this didn't seem to help, and she progressed to cough up further blood. We gave permission for them to do xrays to her chest and lungs. Then we were told the deverstating news, her prognosis was poor ... aspiration pneumonia and Brachycephalic syndrome 😭😭 some of the words thrown at us.
After further discussion with the vets, it was decided the kindest thing for Margot would be euthanasia.
💔 Heartbreaking doesn't even come close, today should have been a fresh start, a chance of a new exciting life with people who would show her what real love was, and that her life would only get better.
We stayed with Margot (a name chosen by her foster mum because we didn't even know her name). We kissed and cuddled her while she passed, we told her she was the best girl, and that we loved her so much... she went peacefully, but we are left here with overwhelming shock, in disbelief and completely deverstated.
RIP Margot, taken far too soon 😢 💔
