- Frannces thanks for the phone call and I will now put full story on here.
ROLO was found by a lady that spotted him in her garden and thought it was a fox. When still around next day a closer inspection revealed it was a dog. mentioning it to neighbours the husband asked if it could be the little dog missing- posters in the high street which Frances and her daughter had put up. The lady went to check the poster and after seeing the picture phoned Frances to say I think your dog is in our garden.
The lady had also phoned the dog warden- HURRAY someone acting correctly and they were on way over when notified owner had been traced.
Frances worried Rolo might dash away was reassured saying- he is now in our house eating biscuits!!
She went round to collect worried how he may be after his 12 day ordeal but pleased to say after she picked him up he gave excited squeals of delight!!
Back home all the other dogs made a great fuss of him ( no doubt wanting the full story where he had been )
His tag has got lost and the collar is torn but both to be replaced ASAP. So please that another is safely back and hope this gives hope to those still searching. REMEMBER POSTERS WORKED here is the proof!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18 - 2009-06-14 06:23 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator

- OW it could be kids but it could also be as you suspect that someone does not want these posters seen. If there are more shops etc that would display inside windows or even any houses then no chance of being taken down. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Frances, I will pick slightly different spots to put up the posters just in case they have been removed deliberately. I will also target Castle Way a bit more this time too and there is a little newsagents/mini market on the estate and I will ask them to display a poster in the window. Good luck!! - I will drop in some more posters in for Leybourne tomorrow, Friday. Altho' Rolo is v nervous he does flatten to the floor when scared so it is possible that he would then allow someone to pick him up; I think its worth putting them back up, especially as Castle Way is a possible route home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I am slightly concerned that the posters I put up around the Leybourne estate have disappeared. I am sure that this is nothing more sinister than the inclement weather or kids but I have emailed Frances about this and I have offered to replace the missing ones and maybe poster in different places. My concern is that if there is the slightest chance that these have been removed deliberately then perhaps Rolo has been picked up, although I know Rolo is extremely nervous and the chances of a stanger getting near him are very slim. I will keep my eyes peeled when I am out and about just in case. I so want to see this little man in the blue. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Went on walk around area last night. re did some soggy posters with fresh laminated ones and spoke to everyone i saw- most aware he is missing. Managed to speak to the ranger of the park who was there and we have exchanged phone numbers he is aware and wanted to know what to do if spotted so explain best way to do this. Area is too vast with many walkers to think about a trap unless we can managed to contain him in set areas by scenting- even then its not really an ideal place for this but having spoken with ranger maybe can put on thinking caps if needed. Frances keep in touch- being spotted means he is managing- so do not give up on scenting and posters- we just need Rolo to realise we are searching for him!! I will try and phone this morning for update on last night.. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Frances, can't believe this little boy is still not home. I am still thinking of you and little Rolo and if wishes would bring him home that he'd be there! It is so rural around there I know - maybe you should stake out in the in the middle of the park when it's all gone quiet and light up a bbq with yummy smelling sausages or something! Is there any possibility that someone might have picked him up or is he too timid for that? Be strong, don't give up there's plenty of us rooting for you all. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- The park where Rolo went missing is surrounded by acres of fields and orchards. He was extremely nervous before this incident and would not choose to be near a busy road. It is quite possible that he could hide out in the fields for sometime without being spotted, especially at his size. I am therefore looking in the surrounding areas as there are about 20 people checking the park everyday. Without a sighting it is diificult to know what to try next.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Frances- i have emailed some more advice- too long to put on here re plotting and scenting.Glad to see you are in contact with Viking oaks- you could also try Jasmil and maybe Redsheen just in case Rolo moves out of area or is picked up and taken out of area. You have my mobile on the email so if you need more help please phone. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Passing Tesco and the main car park on the left, continue out of West Malling. Manor Park is opposite the big Manor House (Duces Manor) and is on the left. You can see the swans on the lake as you drive out towards Kings Hill, that is the edge of the park. I am phoning Viking Oaks regularly. Steve knows Rolo as we have boarded the dogs there in the past. If you would like to email your address to me frances.leong1@btinternet.com, I will drop some posters in to you. Thanks Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Sorry can't quite place that, where exactly is it in relation to the High Street? I was think about the car park behind Tesco in West Malling High Street. If you can get some posters to me I live on the Leybourne Estate and am happy to get postering around there and all the surrounding garages and shops etc., and I'm happy to put one up in my car. My problem is I don't have the facility at home to print and I think work might not be too impressed with me if I start printing off lots of posters!! Have you got hold of the dog warden, Viking Oak and the RSPCA at Leybourne? We lost 2 little dogs some time ago. Even thought Rolo is chipped I would recommend that you contact/visit Viking Oak on a daily basis as that was what we had to do! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Yes we were in Manor Park and he was chased off the green at the top and all the way all along the river path. He was spotted in the Park's car park, where I normally park. He is very nervous and will probably keep out of everyone's way. We have walked at Leybourne Lakes a number of time so if he gets that far, it is somewhere he would recognise. We actually live in Birling so I'm hoping that he won't get as far as that.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thanks, have printed and laminated first round of posters. Rolo has been back to the car park but unfortunately the people who saw him could not get near him! I am going back at 5pm with my daughter and our other dogs to try to lure him out. I will leave his vet bed and a jumper of my daughter's near the car park where he was last seen.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
