Thank you to everyone for the very thoughtful and touching comments. As you can imagine my wife and myself are devastated at the loss of Eddie whom we have enjoyed life with for nine and a half years. he was the most loving, happy and loyal dog you can imagine and he will never be far from our thoughts. Over the past week with the help of so many friends, neighbours and people we have never met (including all of you on this site), trying to help us find Eddie, it has really restored my faith in human nature and concern for others. THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.

There is always food and water and warm Spring weather. The old frail animals are young again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing, they are not with their special person who loved them so much on Earth.

Each day they all run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears rise up! The eyes are staring! Then suddenly, this one runs from the group! You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and you both embrace. Your face is licked again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separate

I am so sorry for your loss, but what a lovely person you must be, that despite your sadness at your loss you are thinking of others and offering to help look etc for any lost dogs in your area. I wish there were morekind people like you around, Eddie was a lucky dog to have owners like you. R.I.P. Eddie. xx

Sadly had email from owner this mornig: I unfortunately found Eddie yesterday morning and tragically he is no longer with us. Thank you very much for your help and please let me know if any dogs in our area are lost and I will be happy to assist in any way.

I have spoken to the owner this evening, this Westy took off after some thing snatching the retractable lead out of owner's hand. He was very close to home so knows his suroundings well. This is a popular dog walking area so could you all keep your eyes open.

This little chap has been missing since Sunday evening. I will contact owner for more details later thi evening but wanted to get him on site ASAP. He needs daily medication.
