Ps I have taken a note of the mobile number of the advert I cut and pasted for you Anne so please feel free to leave a message on this DL page and I will call the number on the poster and give you the details...Definitely worth a phonecall if only to establish the correct colour of the advertised dog so that you can make sure she isn't Poppy...Good Luck x  ( maybe she has been made too hot to handle let's hope so )Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Get travelling  Liason Officers on the case as Stow on the Wold Horse Fair in early May. Hundreds of Gypsies and Travellers attend this event and sell dogs and cats too. As there is a reward worth giving it a go news spreads fast in this type of environment. May be worth contacting Travellers Liason Officers for each County and sending out posters of your missing dog. Good Luck but worth a go as the gypsies come from Ireland and all over the UK.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am so sorry that after you have worked so hard to find your lovely girl there is still no positive news of her. We will always be on the look out for her and here to give you support. A French Bulldog in NORTHERN IRELAND hase been stolen ID 19,951 and it may be worth you contacting them and asking if they can keep a look out for Poppy as they also search for their pet. I do hope you have some news soon xxx Pam Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just an update on searching for Poppy.  Although no more sightings I haven't stopped searching.  I've contacted all the tourist information centres in Southern Ireland who have put up posters and given me vets and pet shops addresses in their areas so posters and letters were sent off air mail to all those at the weekend.  I'm overwhelmed at how helpful they've all been.  Thanks loadsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I so wish our Police in Newcastle were as concerned and interested as Kent Police.  I've put another Ad in Countrymans Weekly next week and raised the reward to ?2000.   I'm so upset with someone who has just bought a new puppy yesterday as their other dog went missing last week so they've resigned themselves to the fact that she won't be coming home.  How can anyone just dismiss their pet like that !! I'll NEVER EVER stop searching for PoppyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

there is a letter missing after the N... dont think you can trace that yourself,,and the police are a joke!! its not fair when people move heaven and earth for their pets and get no help,,just keep an eager eye for that van again,,good luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

One of my staff who only lives about half a mile away has just rang me (11.10 p.m.) to say that her brother has just seen a dark blue Ford Transit van full of dogs - about a dozen and all looked bull breeds.  He thought he'd done well in gettting number plate but there's a digit/letter missing.  All he's got is N08 CVX.  Any ideas how I could trace it. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I scoured the area as much as I could this morning but no sign of her.  I spoke to the lady who rang HQ but she thought the dog was darker than Poppy, didn't think it had a white chest but I still had to follow it up.  I rang another animal communicator last night who suggested using dowsing rods (which I have) and starting in my county, work my way out until I find the right county and then start on towns in that county.  Worth a try.  I've booked to see a medium tomorrow to see if my mum or dad can tell me where she is. Thanks for putting her in Countryman's Weekly - really appreciate it xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi  Thanks.  I'll NEVER give up searching.  I went to Halifax this morning (over 250 mile drive) as I had a possible lead (Sorry Jane and Helen but I HAD to follow it up).  My friend and I were very subtle and the lady was lovely and showed us all her dogs including a  dark brindle french bulldog bitch and her very young puppy.  We pretended not to know anything about french bulldogs.  That is a good idea Kieron.  I was thinking of putting a huge banner across the A1 footbridge.  By the time the authorities realised it was there I would probably hit quite a few motorists with it. I've been to all surrounding areas of Swalwell and the vets and pet shops in Whickham and police station there are all postered.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi dont give up stay focussed i found the advice from Hazel was very good but you have to get to work and follow through with it i found home made sign boards where very useful had lots of calls and sightings and people knocking my house once i got them out i used 2ft by 3 ft pieces of old ply board and got some yellow and white gloss and managed to get 8 big sign boards out, try and think where you live any main roads or roundabouts nearby try and catch the morning and evening rush hour traffic also get to the doctors surgeries usual post offices, i asked the family over for an afternoon, and printed off loads of flyers and posters and posted them in people doors tucked them in wheelie bins on collection day cheeky i know but everyone knew my dog was missing i really hope you find them, good luck saying a pray for you all though not religous fingers crossed  keep on ringing dog wardens go and visit the kennels i found they could be very lazyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Dianne.   SIGHTING!!!  Just to let you know that a lady rang me today from Swalwell (Gateshead) to say that she seen Poppy in her street on Sunday morning.  She said Poppy was distressed and running up the street, looking around her confused.  She went out but didn't try and get hold of her.  There was no one with the dog.  She didn't realise it was Poppy until she seen a poster today in a pet shop in the next village.  I took her some posters over and she went to see some neighbours who confirmed it was definitely Poppy.  We've since postered all around the area, knocked on doors, seen a postman in the street, gone to vets, police station etc.   There is a huge car boot sale at Blaydon Rugby Club on a Sunday morning so I'm now wondering if someone has taken her to the boot sale to sell her on and she's escaped as she was seen exactly one mile away from there.  If anyone's in the Swalwell, Whickham or surrounding area, please keep a look out or if anyone has any other suggestions, I'd really appreciate them.  I'm going back across tonight!! x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Anne I am so sorry to hear about Poppy, my British Bulldog was stolen last year but we did get her back thank goodness. I put a photographic ad in the Loot as this covers a lot of the country and a lot of people place ads for dogs in there. We also went to the local mail sorting office and gave lots of leaflets to postmen as they notice any new dogs on there rounds, also try local taxi ranks. Good luck and i hope you soon have your baby back home with you. x

Am sorry there is still no news on Poppy as yet.    Thankfully she is chipped and has been spayed so she has no use for breeding anyway thank god.   Keep safe little girl until you're found and back home where you belong.    Helen xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Up to Date Status on Poppy.   I have put posters at sorting offices in Newcastle and Durham.  Almost 1000 posters have been distributed to practically every area in the country including Scotland.  Many vets and PDSA's have been informed as have dog groomers, dog walkers etc.  Posters have been given to 'travellers sites' around the country and there is also a travellers web site which gives the areas where they are at present.  Poppy has been advertised in regional newspaper, Dogs World magazine and 'Our Dog' magazine and is going in Country Man's mag next week which will be given out at big dog show in Nottingham and also at Glasgow.  Cleveland has been 'postered' and many police stations have been given posters.  Friends around the country from Essex to Edinburgh have posters in their cars/vans.  Posters being sent to all Nobles Amusement offices throughout the country as they organise fairs etc.  T shirts getting printed with Poster on.   Dog Show in Sussex put out announcement on PA system and posters given out.  Poppy has been spayed (with new glue method of stitching) so is no good for breeding anyway. PLEASE don't give up looking for her - I need her home so bad.  Many thanks   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i’ve been discussing about poppy to other french bulldog owners, and one mentioned  What about asking the local councils where the fairs are going to be pitched - they have to have a license I think, so the council will have a list of the upcoming fairs.xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Stephchanel I haven't tried Nobles but I will now.  I found out last night that there were indeed travellers who were about 2 minutes drive from me and were moved on the week Poppy was stolen.  I rang the councillor who contacted the police to move them on and she promised to try and find out where they went.  The thing is, we have the reg of one of the traveller's transit vans who was hanging around here and gave it to the police but they never came back to us.  I rang the police in Forest of Dean in Gloucester after it said in the Sun on Saturday that there were 24 dogs stolen in the last fortnight and the thieves wanted ?1000 per dog ransom money but they denied it and said it was in fact only 2 springer spaniels. I'm at my wits end as she could be anywhere in the country and you know the breed, they are very much mammy's dogs.    Thanks for your help xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Rach for seeing that.  It is in fact a friend that put the ad in on the off chance that Poppy would be offered to her but it proves that people are looking for her.   Does anyone know where the travellers are as due to all the posters (300 plus) put around the North East and no one coming forward, they may have taken her elsewhere.  Unless they're keeping her in hiding until they think its safe to bring her out.   I had a sick voicemail at 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning to say he's found Poppy hanging by her throat up a tree and wanted ?200 to bring her 'corpse' to me.  There are some very sick evil people in this world.  No wonder I'm going out of my mind.   Please don't stop searching for her for me x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Could anyone tell me if they know of any travelling fun fairs in their area as it's looking more like someone from there.  I'll drive ANYWHERE in the country from Newcastle on Tyne to look for Poppy.  I was really hoping that someone local would have rang by now asking for 'reward' money.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well 4 days now since Poppy was stolen and still heard nothing.  We must have put out over 300 posters.  There was almost a whole page spread with photographs in the regional newspaper last night.  Facebook has been a great way of circulating her picture and friends have forwarded to friends.  She's reported in 'Dog World' magazine and also in 'Our Dog'. Posters gone to dog show people, doggy walkers, groomers etc.  My vet told me to send a letter to all vets in yellow pages with her microchip number and a poster to put up which I've now done.  I'm hoping that if I keep positive, we'll get her home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Anne I hope Poppy gets home soon. The thieves who took Poppy used wire cutters to access her via an enclosed cat run - this was a planned & motivated theft, so she has probably been advertised for sale somewhere or maybe already passed on. Also worth noting is that a very large travelling funfair left Newcastle the day she went missing. Please inform all contacts UK wide - the more people aware of Poppy the better. Does DL not email local helpers anymore?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
