- SAMBA IS BACK WITH HER FAMILY. Called into the RSPCA and took pics of the GSD they had. While I was there John and Shaz turned up just as I was about to leave. They have confirmed it was Samba and she has now gone home with them. John and Shaz did not have transport and had travelled by train they are overjoyed it is Samba, amazing how she has got from Litherland L21 and found in Garston area L19 roughly about 12-15 miles. Great to now be moving Samba into the BLUE this has been a roller coaster month for her family. She will be getting CHIPPED a.s.a.p. Lovely REUNITED photo taken at the kennels and now uploaded. Welcome home Samba. A big ?THANK YOU? to the RSPCA for matching her against the poster they had displayed in their office and contacting myself. When she was booked in by the Out Of Hours Wardens she was put down as a male it was not until the RSPCA did their own checks this was found out to be wrong. If Samba had been CHIPPED it would have made things a lot easier all round. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- 16.00 p.m. Thanks Angelita the 7 day ruling has been explained to John and Shaz. I am finishing work early tonight and just on my way to the kennels to have a look at this dog. Did speak to kennels earlier and let them know I will be going in. I'll update later when I have seen her and take photo/s to send to John and Shaz. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi John and Shaz. Do hope this is your Samba at the RSPCA. Doglost was formed after my dog went missing and i realized the kennels where stray dogs are kept..be it the RSPCA or local council appointed kennels have no time to search for owners..or any duty to do so. I like you had no ID on my dog. We at doglost have worked hard to form relationships with the kennels to give the dogs a chance and most are co operating with us volunteers. Indeed the match came through the staff double checking and through Major jets hard work liasing with them. If you need to call me today my number is 0800 844 3220 as Major jet ( Jan as you know her) is at work.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- 16.25 p.m. spoken to RSPCA for an update. No-one has been to see if this dog is Samba. The reason the RSPCA tried to contact myself was because they could not get through to the number on the poster but did leave a message on the answer phone. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Tried phone number a few times, message kept saying unable to take calls, finally got through to owner. Thank you to the work colleague who was in another office and also spoke to owner and passed the message on. Spoken to RSPCA and owner has been in touch with them. DL is run by volunteers no-one works for DL. It is up to owner or another family member to visit the kennels and not rely on phone calls alone. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- My O.H. informed DHL container yard at Seaforth & the one next door to them. he says you can drive all round the dock area & go into Freeport with posters. DHL yard is a secure compound, asked if seen can they try to entice her in, have given them your phone number in case of any sightings, they said they will put posters up, good luck. - 22.40 Message from owner on home answer machine this evening. They have had a call tonight of a SIGHTING in Seaforth. Caller said he called her and she ran off towards Seaforth docks. Family have been to the area searching and leaving food out. John great there has been a sighting and the posters are still working. You need to visit this area early in the morning first light (dawn) and in the evening (dusk). Scent the area and handout smaller posters to dock workers etc. If there is anywhere suitable that she was sighted leave an item of clothing and food such as pilchards etc that we discussed about recently. If you do see her take the calm approach we have spoke of she may not recognise you straight away. Contact the DW and let them know you have had a sighting. I'll try and ring you but it may not be until tomorrow evening now. Email/text sent to alert them of the posting. Good luck. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- John as we discussed on the phone last night, we always stress to owners the importance of visiting kennels in person at least once a week (dogs are only kept for 7 days before rehoming) do not rely on phonecalls alone. I am hoping to call into RSPCA this afternoon to look out for a few dogs that are on DL. I will update dogs pages later. Great that you are still keeping her profile up with the postering. - Just got back from Halewood RSPCA to look at the GSD's they have in there, none of them match the found dog on National Pet Register. Samba's owner did go to look at one of them the other day. The other GSD was picked up near the M57 and handed in on 16th. I do not think it is Samba but will try and send a photo to owners to check her out. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

They did have an email from someone who had found a GSD and handed it into Halewood, owners went to have a look but it was not Samba. - If she has not been found by tomorrow then maybe dropping a few flyers down the dock road would be an idea. There are a few garages on derby road, and maybe one of the many workers down that area may have seen her. worth a go. - Thanks Goldenfrodo. Sent a text to owners yesterday to check Halewood RSPCA as she would be taken there if handed in or picked up by DW etc. I've spoken to owners today and updated the details. Samba has gone missing in Litherland which comes under Sefton Council. She is scared of water and was frightened by the water hose, she bolted from the house. Samba is also nervous of strangers. Owners feel she may have been taken in by someone who has not reported her to DW. Have said to them not everyone knows what to do when finding a dog. Last sighting was reported four days ago in Millers Bridge/ Derby Road, Bootle near the Shell garage she ran into William Henry Street, she may have been clipped by a car. Stressed the importance of contacting vets in area/surrounding areas. Owners have contacted Halewood RSPCA today. I?ve explained how to leave a comment on DL which owners said they will do. Various size posters will be emailed with SCENTING/MAPPING Instructions a.s.a.p. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
