- OMG! poor Bess ! Nasty Fox trap!!
"It is legal to lay snares and traps, but they must be checked regularly, and any wild animals caught must be promptly destroyed. Otherwise the person responsible could face prosecution under animal welfare laws. Local wildlife officer PC Carl Chew said: 'The dog is lucky to be alive. If the weather had been the hot summer predicted, she would not have survived.'!Flippin idiots,,,,, Bess could have died !!!l

- So glad you have Bess home, with some TLC she should be back to normal very soon. Did you find her in the trap? Wonder if this could have happened to Trixie the beagle as she was lost in a rural area and there have been no proper sightings of her after nearly three weeks.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thankyou for your advice and prayers Keiran it really means alot,we live on a busy road in a rural location and I put a massive board upoutside our house with her details on,I have also done flyers with her picture on and posted them through doors in a 7/8 mile radius of home, also put them in most of the shops and supermarkets and local veterinary surgerys I have also placed advertisments in three of our local papers,I will ring round all the dog wardens again today. My feeling is that she has been taken rather than gone wandering she knows the area so well, the last three weeks have been unbearable without her,I hope and pray she is back home very soon, any more advive would be welcome.Thankyou DonnaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- hi dont give up stay focussed i found the advice from Hazel was very good but you have to get to work and follow through with it i found home made sign boards where very useful had lots of calls and sightings and people knocking my house once i got them out i used 2ft by 3 ft pieces of old ply board and got some yellow and white gloss and managed to get 8 big sign boards out, try and think where you live any main roads or roundabouts nearby try and catch the morning and evening rush hour traffic also get to the doctors surgeries usual post offices, i asked the family over for an afternoon, and printed off loads of flyers and posters and posted them in people doors tucked them in wheelie bins on collection day cheeky i know but everyone knew my dog was missing i really hope you find them, good luck saying a pray for you all though not religous fingers crossed keep on ringing dog wardens go and visit the kennels i found they could be very lazyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi I?m sorry to hear Bess is missing. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres?local council stray dogs holding kennel give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars.., If you can go down there each day to check for your dog that is the best thing as they only have to hold a dog for 7 days before it can legally be rehomed or in some cases destroyed. It is also worth contacting the local police as if someone has found your dog they may well have contacted them. Get postering now?..as quickly and as many as you can physically manage. POSTER POSTER POSTER!!!?I cannot emphasize how important this is, from the posters you will get sightings and lots of extra pairs of eyes looking out for your dog. if your dog is tattooed or microchipped, then of course state so in your posters, but remember to phone the tattoo and microchip people... get them to look up your details and confirm they have the best and most current contact numbers for you. And a backup if possible. Poster bus stops, train stations, supermarket/retail park car parks, pet shops petrol stations, lay by snack vans, service stations, bins, poo bins, shopping centres, take away outlets, pubs, lamposts, caf?s, garden centre?s, leisure centre?s,??.basically anywhere people go you need to poster like mad so nobody misses them? ask in as many places as you can if they will display a poster for you. Tell postman and take flyers to local sorting office for all postmen to carry while on rounds, binmen and give them a poster so they have your phone no handy? look up and call all local dog walkers and email them a poster if possible. in fact tell every single person you meet while searching as the more people know the much better chance of getting your dog back quickly. Contact the local newspaper and radio stations? take out an advert with a photo in the papers pets section lost and found. If you believe your dog has been stolen then it is very important you contact the police for a crime reference number?. And the postering publicity should have the aim of not only getting your dog home but making it too hot to handle, also check the area that your dog was taken from?..are there cctv camera?s that could have captured whoever took your dog?.
