I agree 7 days to hold a stray dog is not long enough.I feel verty sorry foy Bonnies owners.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This type of problem was featured on Breakfast TV this morning.  It is up to the goodwill of the new owners to return her to the original owners.  The original owners have no legal claim on her once the 7 days in the pound are up. IMO - 7 days is no where near long enough - and does not even cover a typical holiday, for instance.  Another reason to get your dog chipped.  My greyhound is chipped, tattooed and tagged (a legal requirement) at ALL times.  I also have a set of identifying photos - should he ever go missing (God forbid). Let's hope that goodwill prevails and the new owners agree to give her up to the original owners.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

True dog lovers would know what the family are feeling and return her to her rightful owners. The law is wrong, 7 days is not enough time for people to look for their pet, especially when taken out of area. All dogs should me microchiped by law, and details kept updated, until this law is made we will continue to have this heartache. I hope for the real owners sake the adopted owners have a change of heart and return her to them, i have been in this situation and  did just that. Fingers crossed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It now looks like Bonnie now has a new home, legaly homed when her 7 days were up. It is so important to have all dogs chipped and saves the heartache that her family are going through, especialy when stolen and taken out of the local area. All thefts need to be reported to the police imediatly to recieve a CRN as proof of the theft, which, unfortunately, Bonnie did not have.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners have contacted Whitehouse kennels where the simmilar whippet was spotted, she has now been rehomed but owners are hoping they may be able to have her back due to the fact that she was stolen and found away from her own area. The new owners will have only had her for a very short time.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
