- Thanks Yasa for posting the email too, everything I wrote seems to have done a disappearing act! Its those gremlins again! Will say WELCOME HOME BENTLEY again (hopefully this post will be more of a success!) and well done to the kind people who took him in. If Medivet had picked up his chip on the Friday the heartache and worry over the weekend for the owners would have been avoided, he's since been scanned at his own vets and the chip was picked up fine. - Don?t know what happened to your post there Jo, but so pleased to get the news from owner that Bentley is safely home. Another case of tag coming off and chip being missed I?m afraid. This has got to be a warning to others once more. So anyone still searching, you cannot expect the ID tag or chip to bring your dog home, and if he or she ends up in the pound, can be re-homed after only seven days if not claimed.
Luckily for Bentley he had his own angels who took him in and kept him safe for the weekend until his owners could be found. Thank you so much to that lovely couple, and well done to owners for postering well. Welcome home Bentley ? you stay safe now xx
Email from owner:-
He's home, he lost nametag from collar , he was picked up friday eve was taken to vets Saturday, and they said he wasn't chipped!?! Thankfully the lady was very kind and took him home for weekend and saw my sisters plea on Facebook and it went from there.
We have since taken to our own vet who found the microchip immediately!
Thanks for all your help in everything u were a great support.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18 - 2009-08-03 09:30 alfmar

- Bentley's owners would like to pass on their thanks for all the help. There was a sighting of an elderly couple with Bentley on Friday evening - they were walking with him asking other dog walkers if they knew him...presumably he'd lost his tag (and collar) when they found him. Hopefully they will call council tomorrow and Bentley will be reunited with this owners. If not, posters, local press etc will hopefully bring that call in. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thanks Yasa for making contact and giving advice, info, posters etc to owner. As Yasa has said hopefully as he's a friendly boy and a loveable Lab (yeah I'm biased!) someone will have taken him in over the weekend and will notify the authorities tomorrow. In the meantime, all the advice, postering etc needs to be followed. I will alert local helpers.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Have given local contact numbers and emailed a general information sheet, postering guidelines and suggestions, and scenting, in case sightings come in from another area, but scenting can be done around where Bently has got out from any way. I'm sure he will be home soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Photo of this gorgeous boy uploaded. Posters are available for local helpers to print from this page. Click on DOG POSTER 1 above the dog detail boxes left hand side towards the top. You need to be registered and logged in to do this. Comments can be left by clicking on the small blue cross above where the comments are. Hundreds of posters needed out there as soon as possible, and please hand to dog walkers in the area. Good luck Bentley. We will have you home soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Have alerted Jo, local co-ordinator, who is out at the moment but will make contact later. Spoken to owner. Bently has dug out of his back garden and took off on an adventure. He should know the area well, so in principle, should be able to find his way back. He went at about 8.00pm on evening of Fiday 31st, so if has been picked up, he could be being cared for until after the weekend when all authorities are on duty. Have advised making the hole in the fence much larger so he can get back in if he is still loose, and scenting around that area. Then getting hunderds of posters up as quickly as possible. Bently is used to being walked in the Wood Ave, Beckney Woods area as well, so may have made his way there. Hopefully will receive a photo to admin soon. Any helpers in the area, please keep a look out and spread the word. Bently is very very friendly dog, and will run up to people, so quite possible that he has been picked up.
