A quick update on Grace : She has a couple of shaved areas due to pressure sore on shoulder and fly strike (eggs fortunately had not had time to hatch) at rear end. She's been moving around a bit more this morning, which is good. Definitely more relaxed and more responsive generally. She's eating well (little and often and quantities per vet school instructions).

Lots of medication, drops etc for eyes, especially damaged left eye, throughout the day. But, improving day by day. She's due to see the ophthalmologist on 18th; meantime, they have to monitor the left eye for signs pressure is building up in it.

It's incredible she survived. Since then, we've been able to establish her most likely route was indeed taking her back to a familiar (and distinct, given number of hounds) smell a couple of miles away, but she possibly became disoriented and veered off not to far from there. Thank you to everyone who helped with finding her.

Grace remains missing. Large Finders Fee offered for information leading to Grace's safe return or whereabouts.
Posters have been put on many sites around the search area, and local community/groups have been extremely helpful and on the lookout. Owner also involved in ongoing searches including night time with (limited) tools.
2 drones have been offered but weather has prevented use for search. Owner has put update on Drone SAR website.Last edited: 2024-07-06 16:13:35 by LA

Jayne - is this correct? Last comment I saw from OP on Drone SAR post around 19.30 hrs today was that they were still waiting for a weather window to be able to fly.

Update 2 drone SAR pilots have been assisting owner.

Jayne - owner's friend posted to Drone SAR two days ago and despite a second call for pilots around 19.00 on 2/7 I am not aware of any assistance being offered so far.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Thanks for update Geoff...Drone SAR do have pilots in the area ( 5) but have not been contacted...as Owner is not au fait with FB could you make a report on their behalf please? Thanks.

Grace was spooked by something and went into panic mode, ran away and disappeared in the Gourock area It's a large expanse of land roughly between PA19 1SQ (St Ninian's PS) and PA19 1HD (Gourock golf club) and PA16 0EQ (Larkfield industrial estate, Greenock)
She was last seen by dog walkers who met her on a path and she bolted. On the map below that was around the N55 degrees info.
She's currently on twice daily medication and is an older adult. She's wearing a pink fleece collar. She is microchipped and has a tag.

Her owner has also been in contact with Drone SAR and Drone to Home (hoping latter could help locate someone locally with a thermal drone). Local community have been great, sharing FB pages and walking in area. However, it is a large area of hilly moorland and some pretty dense woodland, so not easy to cover.
Her owner says : "It is about 2 miles as the crow flies from where S lives. We've walked in the area a few times over the years but always driven there. Grace spent a few days with S a fortnight ago. So, I'm hoping Grace will use her sense of smell to navigate back to there."
Her owner has slept in her car there overnight and is leaving clothing at points that Grace may return to.
If you live in the area please look out for her and report any sightings to Dog Lost or me. There's posters you can print off and put in your vets/ shops/ bus stops etc: https://www.doglost.co.uk/poster.php?dogId=193046
