- What a wonderful ending here for Frankie, it just goes to show how tenacious and resorcesful these little dogs can be. Well done to owners who kept going back to the spot and by postering heavily they had great local awareness. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- The date 06/08/09, the time 5.30pm. Frankie has been FOUND
Everyone involved, his owners, his owners friends, Frankie`s many admirers, are this evening shedding tears of joy at his recovery.
He was last seen on the 4th. going into an area of the beach which is storm protected by huge concrete bollards called Dollos stones and to which the tide rises to a height of around fifteen to twenty feet. The tide was almost to the edge of those stones when Frankie was missing but he had the sense (even in his deep trauma) to climb through those stones to a point above the high water level where he stayed for almost two days and four high tides later. His searchers passed that spot on a number of occasions but Frankie wasn`t letting on where he was until this evening when he was spotted just standing there, no whimpers, no barks, and his owner climbed up the stones to rescue him.
Not much the worse for wear apart from the runs through the intake of sea water he is to be taken to the vet tomorrow for a check over.
Frankie is a hero and Alfie his pal is delighted too as he has his playmate back. The moral: Stay positive, don`t give up, do all in your power to advertise the fact that your dog is lost (many, many thanks to Doglost for their input) and hey, what a result.!!

- I phoned and emailed Keith last night, leaving my contact number, but not heard anything yet. I've been checking Rescues and the RSPCA in Colwyn Bay but no news so far. Fingers tightly crossed this little boy is safe. Barbara xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hello and many thanks to all concerned. The search has been going on until dark last night 04th. and all day today mainly concentrated around the two loading jettys at the Llanddulas quarries which is the area Frankie was last seen.
Whilst there is a chance that he may have made the journey off the beach area and into Old Colwyn the fear is that he may have been trapped by the tide. But, there is a possibility that he can have climbed up through the rocks to a safe haven above the high water mark.
He ran for approximately two miles obviously in severe shock and may be dehydrated due to the lack of drinking water in the area we think he may have passed through but if he has escaped the beach area then hopefully he may be picked up by public or wardens soon. We are hoping and praying for his safe return.
Keith Roberts - a friend of Frankie.

- Email received this morning:
Hello Jan,
Many many thanks for your prompt response to our lost plea for Frankie and many posters have now gone to various sites around the area.
Frankie was hit by a bicycle on his evening walk and although apparently unhurt he must have suffered severe shock because he ran and kept on running. The major downside to this is that he eventually reached the shore and was last seen about half a mile away and the tide was fast approaching the beach area where there is no escape due to large stone sea calming boulders so we are hoping against hope that he was able to carry on past this hazard to open ground.
He is a very fit little dog as he gets plenty of good exercise hopefully he has gone to ground to rest.
I will keep you posted and thanks again. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18 - 2009-08-04 23:31 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- Various size posters emailed to owner's friend who registered Frankie on DL, also sent further advice/info and SCENTING/MAPPING Instructions, posters also emailed to Co-ordinator Goldenfrodo. Once the posters start getting circulated fingers crossed he is picked up and handed in. If anyone is able to help spread the word with the postering let us know and various size posters can be emailed to you. Thanks. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Dog Lost.
Frankie an 11 month old miniature Jack Russell terrier, broken coated, tricolour. Hit by a bicycle, unharmed but traumatised and ran off very fast and soon out of sight. Lost on the beach between Llanddulas and Colwyn Bay,(LL29) Conwy, North Wales. Frankie has a collar on and is chipped. He was lost at 1750 hours on Tuesday evening 04/08/09 and the search carried on until dark but no sign of him. He will unlikely be able to find his way home as he is driven to his daily walks and there is an expressway between him and home. The postcode given is not far from the beach. He is not my dog but the dog of friends who live in Bryn Colwyn, Colwyn Bay.
Attached is a picture of Frankie. Frankie is the smaller dog on top.
Thanks in anticipation.
