From local coordinator.
Rudi is reunited!!! Very skinny, ticks, a skin condition, traumatised but otherwise SAFE πŸΎπŸ’™πŸΎ
After 12 long days and nights, hideous weather, we culminated with a full Drone/Scent dogs /thermal scoping evening by the train tracks where we knew both dogs ventured on - sadly Alfie was hit by the train but the traumatised driver reported both dogs crouched down and he wasn’t sure if he hit Rudi, being the smaller one - they never found any trace of him. Most folk I spoke with thought he too had been taken but I wasn’t ready to give up - closure is so important. It took everything to keep the poor stress out owner Marie positive who had not long been discharged from hospital so I knew I had to tread carefully with her. I found an article of a similar dog/situation where the dog survived!!!
I had already clocked him on thermal in the school earlier so I knew he could use the run between his home behind Brentry School field and Alfie’s area - Dean could see a straight run on the drone map along the track which confirmed our thoughts.
So we all gathered on Friday night and swung into action - we had a convincing thermal body marking on drone in parallel with my thermal marker and the one bark I heard in the bushes as I left the bbq to walk where the owner sat down below a tree - clever little Freya scent dog picked up fresh scent in the only one animal hole close by.
So we knew he was still alive and we planned another scout on Saturday night, a leaving a ring cam in the area. The school held a fete all day on Saturday so Rudi stayed away and probable went back to Alfie’s area, where fortunately a couple clocked him and took him to the vets
The power of postering and keeping everyone on alert cannot be emphasised enough - only when the drone went up were the parents at the fete/in the neighbourhood all asking about Rudi !
As I always say never, ever give up - if I am on an owners watch that’s always my mantra and I am so glad I kept the faith as things could have been so different.

Welcome home Rudi

A massive Thankyou to Dean Lambert and Kate Lewis for their amazing drone expertise, Steph Rendall and clever girls Freya and Izzie , Drone Sar & Doglost, Sue and Dave at Brentry Primary School, Mich for keeping me updated and owner Marie for staying with me when others had given up.
I will be meeting Rudi later in the week when he is more settled πŸΎπŸ’™πŸΎ
