- Hi Alex, great to see you posting and thanks to Baggy Dog for the info about the possible Shar Pei sighting. It's also good to hear that H will be appearing in this week's News Shopper as it's the best local paper to advertise for missing dogs and cats (I believe their circulation is, or was, around 200,000 as it the missing ads go in all editions and not just the Penge/Beckenham copies). Also, I'm sorry to mention it again, but did you call Network Rail to log H's details and to get a reference number (please don't just rely on the contact you had with the worker in the supermarket car park)? If I was you, I would also pop down to your local station during the evening to see if you can spot any maintenance workers waiting to start work. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Alex - we spoke last week on the phone and I've sent you a couple of mails. Yesterday I drove into Beckenham, along Croydon Road towards the War Memorial. When I was turning right just before the War Mem (by the charity shop - Scope? - on the corner) I saw what I THOUGHT may have been a Shar Pei with a blue collar on. However it was only a back view so I wasn't 100% sure. He was with I think 2 or three people. The girl who had the lead had short died blonde hair and looked youngish. When I parked I walked back that way but they were nowhere to be seen. I thought at the time that if it WAS H then the blonde girl must have been you, as they were just standing there normally, not something you'd be doing with a stolen dog. I'm not sure if they were going in to the charity shop but it may be worth you speaking to whoever was on duty yesterday.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I've just had a chat to the owner. H is still missing; the owners are distraught. They've flyered lots of places - cemetery, local police, Langley Park school etc. but are a bit despondent as some posters are being ripped down. There was apparently a sighting in Upper Elmers End Road last Friday and a possible sighting in Croydon Road, but nothing much else. They're planning a News Shopper advert for next week. I'll take posters to Dorset Road training later today. Stay positive - lots of dogs are missing & reunited after a much longer time away from home!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Baggy Dog - thanks for posting. It's always good to have you on board as there's nothing quite like a bit of local knowledge! Thanks for getting a poster in the Last Chance shop.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Sorry to hear about H. Not a common breed, so hopefully he should be easy to spot. I'd echo Milly's Mum's advice - particularly re Foxgrove and the training classes. I go to Dorset Road training and know at least 2 or 3 people that live in Penge go there too. Also give out mini flyers to people in parks, and the Safer Neighbourhood Police Team - who can not only look out themselves but may hear about stray dogs from people they see out & about. I'll print out a poster for my friend to display in the Last Chance shop in Bromley which attracts dog lovers from all over. Hope he comes home soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Ditto - thank you Englishlynn - very much appreciated! I went to Kelsey Park tonight and spoke to 3 of the Ward Security chaps (they patrol all Bromley's local park including Alexandra Rec). I stuck a missing poster up on 'my' favourite tree close to the cafe, crazy golf course, tennis courts and childrens' playground. As I know most of the Ward Sec staff 3 of them came over to see what the poster said. They have promised to keep an eye out for H. I gave them a poster each and they have promised to get more copies done to give out to the rest of the team and to put one up at base. I will ask our local (and very popular) bakery/cafe at the Chinese Garage to display a missing poster as they are always supportive and have always displayed our DL posters. People come from all surrounding areas to visit Kelsey Park (it's Bromley Council's jewel in the crown!) and so it will be very busy this week, especially with the schoolchildren being on holiday and a promise of decent weather! - I have emailed a lot of my shar pei friends to look out for H, a shar pei that is lost and scared will hide away and may become agressive to strangers, if u can try and trap him with a cage and some bait as he will be hungry, but its presuming he has stayed in the area he was sited, suggest if he is spotted then call owner. Hope your home soon H Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I've spoken to H's owner and gone through registering on DL, it should be o.k. now and they will try later to post an update when they get home. Details forwarded to DL helper who breeds Shar Pei's also asking for them to be forwarded onto other Shar Pei breeders and Clubs. Alex any further problems with registering email me on the email address I gave and I'll ring you back again. Good luck. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- As mentioned during our telephone conversation, give Network Rail a call on 0845 711 4141 (good to rule out that possibility and then move on with the search!). Make sure you give details of your area, nearest station(s), date missing and 'H''s details.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Have just spoken to H's owner. Sadly he's still missing but owners are doing all the right things to ensure that he's the best known and hottest boy in town! Owner was having problems registering but they will speak to DL Admin to sort it. Once that is done I've asked them to post on H's page to tell us what/where they have already covered. They have postered like crazy and are about to do door to door leafletting. H was being looked after in his own home by neighbours who he knows and who have cared for him before whilst the owners were away for the night. He became a little spooked and decided to run out the front door. They and other dog-owning neighbours tried to catch him but to no avail. He was last sighted at 10.30pm in nearby Alexandra Recreation Ground (near to Penge East station) which is one of his usual walks. He's friendly with adults and children but can sometimes get overly excited around other dogs but is mostly okay. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Email in Admin: Ref: 19441 - Shar pei named H. We still haven't had any luck in finding him, it's been a week now and it's awful not knowing where he is. I thought I would send some more pics and give you some more info: sandy in colour, short coat, short curly tail... he's not that wrinkley and his tongue isn't the full black. He went missing on saturday evening 8th Aug and not sightings since, have put out posters with reward. if you need any further info please let me know. kind regards Photo/s uploaded and two grouped together for the DL poster. Good luck in finding H. Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Unless you've already done so, please would you send us a photo of H as soon as possible. If required, we can also produce mini-flyers. Contact all local vets and make sure they all get a poster of H (go there in person or ask a family member or friend to do this for you). Foxgrove Rd Vets - 8650 2003 (open 24/7 as they provide out of hours emergency cover for many local vets), Eden Park Vets - 8658 2300, Parish Lane Vets - 8778 7789. Also contact Network Rail just in case he has wandered into the station and onto the railway line (not a nice thought, I know but you need to rule this out). Make sure they give you a reference number. Also contact Bromley Council's street cleansing dept - once again ask them to log it on their records and ask for a reference number. Put mini-flyers on each and every car windscreen in Tesco's supermarket at Elmers End and Sainsburys in Penge and Beckenham. Another place to visit is the crematorium at Elmers End as this is a doggy paradise and would have plenty of places for a dog to hide and take cover (speak to as many of the workers there as possible). I will add more places as and when I think of them and will try to make contact with you. Good Luck!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I'm so sorry to hear that H is missing. What are the circumstances i.e. missing from the garden, run off during a walk, etc? You have to get as many posters up asap 100+ for starters. The more the better. You really must make H the best known and hottest boy in town! Have you contacted Battersea Dogs Home as Bromley Council's contracted-out dog warden service take strays to Battersea. Also target supermarkets and their car parks, local railway stations, the Royal Mail sorting office and posties, mini cab offices, petrol stations, ALL pubs, takeaways, milkmen, street cleaners. Dog training classes (the church hall at the end of Minden Road, Anerley) are held on a Monday evening from 8pm-10pm. Also regular dog training classes are held at Dorset Road on Tues, Wed & Thurs evenings and Sat or Sun mornings between 9.30am & 12 noon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
