I don't know if this is the same dog or not, but on www.dogpages.org.uk on the lost/found pages, there was a border cross jack russell found tied to a tree at Elvetham Heath near Fleet, Hants.  From the comments, the dog had facial injuries and the RSPCA were involved.  If this is the same dog, he has been nicknamed "Tinker Tom", his injuries are healing and his eye should be saved.  He has now been castrated and as at 30.8.09 was looking for a forever home.  Apparently his personality is coming out.  If it is the same dog, it is nice to hear some good news.

Hi   Any news on how this lettle fella is pulling through, I am sure that his wounds will heal but the mental scars will take longer. I hope they get the bast*** that did this. Any news on a new home for him?

This is just so horrendous. Poor poor little thing. What a terrifying experience.  Rspca, if you don't find the owners, I will home him gladly. He can snuggle up to my border collie, have lots of walks in the woods and be safe and loved...

It’s high time the Government made the sentences for the cruelty to animals stronger. So what if the cells are full, stick in more bunksconvert their recreation rooms to cells. We don’t send them down so they can have a holiday.
These innocent animals need our protection from the lowest of the lowscum.a***holes of the world.

OMG - This is dreadful.  Those sick b****rds need to be found and hung.  This poor dog must have been so frightened and in so much pain at what it has been through.  I just hope and pray that it makes a full recovery from its injuries and that it can spend the rest of its life with a loving family and being treated how a dog should be treated.  Be brave little one - you are in the best hands now and with people that care. XX

Poor little thing.  Some people will stoop so low, and to abandon him as well.  Hope he makes a speedy recovery and gets a loving and safe home. x

Savaged dog 'bait for fight'

A LITTLE dog that was found injured, abandoned and tied to a post near Eversley might have been involved in dog fighting. Tinker Tom, believed to be a Norfolk terrier cross, was discovered by a motorcyclist on Saturday July 25 at Bramshill Quarry. He was tied to a post using a piece of yellow twine and abandoned at some point between 10am and 12.30am at the entrance to footpath number 27 opposite the quarry on the A327 Reading Road. It has been suggested by people involved in animal rescue that Tinker Tom could have been used as bait in an organised dog fight or even used for illegal animal blood sports. The motorcyclist enlisted the help of someone with a car who drove Tinker Tom to St Kitts Veterinary Centre in the High Street in Hartley Wintney. Wendy Osborne, who works for the St Kitts group of vets at a sister practice, Firgrove Veterinary Centre in Aylesham Way, Yateley, said the RSPCA were immediately called. ?He had severe facial injuries which seemed to be a result of bite wounds. ?He was a very quiet, frightened and depressed little dog,? she said. The RSPCA, which has agreed to pay for Tinker Tom?s treatment, is now investigating. After examining the dog, St Kitts vet Justyn Loveridge performed an emergency  operation to prevent the wounds from becoming infected. Mrs Osborne said they are hopeful the eye can be saved, but it is still too early to know for sure. ?We?re trying to save the eye itself but if we can?t form a proper eye-lid, then the eye itself will be susceptible to infection and drying out. ?We really don?t know at the moment if it can be saved.? A spokesman from the RSPCA said she wanted to hear from anyone with information about the injured dog. ?We think maybe he had been involved in a fight of some sort and his injuries are extremely serious. ?We hope the dog will make a full recovery and then we hope to re-home him,? she said. The spokesman, a committee member for the Hampshire and Surrey Borders branch of the RSPCA, added: ?The person who did this could be prosecuted for neglect because the injuries were about four or five days old and efforts to treat him hadn?t worked. ?But fancy leaving him by the road?? Mrs Osborne said: ?We would like to say a huge big thanks to the men that found Tom and to the lady and gent that have kindly offered to foster him and care for him while he is receiving his veterinary treatment.? Anyone who recognises the little dog, has any information regarding his previous whereabouts or saw anything suspicious around that area at that time can contact the national RSPCA call centre on 0300 1234999 quoting log number 888/25/7/9. Anyone who is interested in providing a safe home for Tinker Tom can contact the Hampshire and Surrey Borders RSPCA on 07880547502 and leave a message.
