- Well done Sue ( ZZ ) I know this is a pet hate of yours in your area and you have warned us of so many mineshafts...good to see the team will investigate the area and block the shafts. And publicity about it in the Cornishman will no doubt bring offers of help in.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Rebecca thanks for the brilliant update of events it is all just so amazing. We look forward to seeing some coverage on it and a Reunited photo would be great especially if the Rescue Team could get in on it. Good luck and give Coco an extra big hug from everyone. - Update from Rebecca:
to everyone who has posted comments- thank you. she is now sleeping quietly in her bed by my chair:) it was an amazing set of circumstances- everyone provided a link to the successful chain of finding her. i was called today by david penhaligan who was assisting darrel's descent into the shaft and he told me that if it wasn't for the neighbour's large scale map which listed a derelict cottage they wouldn't have been able to locate the shafts on their maps- and if it wasnt for sue, i wouldnt have found the cave rescue team, and if it wasnt for my friend who sadly lost her dog, i would not have known about doglost. there are many more examples of all the helping hands i had in my hours of need.
the good news continues- the caving team are very keen to now carry on investigating the area for open mines with the aim of securing them all with dog proof fencing. we will fund raise if necessary! sue would you be able to contact us/ meet with us for a group photo to share success and promote the need to safeguard these mines. i would like to run a story in the cornishman. will be phoning the council tomorrow. thank you again, rebecca (still smiling) Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18 - 2009-09-10 15:27 Goldenfrodo

- Coco has been found alive and well! She was brought up from one of the oldest mine shafts (over 200 years old, and hidden in extremely dense undergrowth) this afternoon, having fallen 180 feet and survived. Usually a noisy dog, she remained silent, even when her owner was in the vicinity calling her. She has a cut above her eye, and is very thin, tired and hungry, but otherwise seems fine. What a fantastic result for all those involved. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thanks, Sable. Spoke to owner a couple of days ago and recommended she register on site - pleased she has. The area is full of badger setts as well as shafts. I have suggested owner involve local badger rescue as they are very knowledgeable, Dynarod if they can hear the dog underground, and Kind Edward School of Mines as a starting point for locating shafts. The area is wild and rugged, and many of the shafts are hidden.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
