Bear
Thanks Magicalbadger- sounds like you are doing a fantastic job.  Know just how hard it is and how long it all takes- almost a full time job.
Bit of a blow with the stray around Canford- we think we know whose dog it is- so BBQ off until we know for sure...
Have you had any sightings at all or just total blank?
It is great that he is chipped, and it sounds like there are posters everywhere.
We are willing him to get home asap

Hi magicalbadger, so sorry no news on dear Blue, I think Bear could be right and maybe his owner should report him to police as stolen ?? no news or sightings ???  If he has been taken in then the more posters out on view the better, this will make Blue too hot to handle..Its such a built up area with people around, if he was roaming im sure he would of been seen by now. I've sent more of Blue's posters to vets and rescues today and as you say he's chipped so lets hope this brings some good news soon,Keep up the great work and stay strong for Blue.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi everyone tnx for all your support & help.Yes he is on face book he has more friends than his owner!! literally 100s,& every vet & animal rescue in the area has his info & a poster,i am trying to keep his owner up but he is very upset & has gone into a deep depression & doesn't see any hope of getting his boy back. i am not able to go online every day but do what i can when i can.anyway i haven't given up hope,i still think he will come home to his owner soon.he does have a chip which is good so at some point someone will hopefully read it.again thank u all.
Bear im so sorry i cant help you, as im in Bath, but i wish you all the best luck in the world & hope that these sightings are your boy, simon & that he is home with you soon.thinking of you both.lets hope sausages do the trick & he thinks that's a menu worth investigating when you are there to.x

Bear
Keep hoping to see some good news- I keep checking and you are all in my thoughts.  Have you logged him as stolen with the police?  They won't take details unless you say you think he has been stolen.
Have you put him on facebook?
Make sure all vets in Bristol know- send posters/phone/email
wishing you all the best with the search and a happy ending soon.

Magicalbadger please tell Blue's owner not to give up hope as most of the time its the posters that get lost dogs home, the more up the better. we are all keeping a look out for this boy and i hope its only a matter of time before you get some good news, also if you can get him in local papers lots more people will see his picture and i'm sure some calls will start to come in. Keep strong and stay safe until you are found Blue.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I put up some posters yesterday at the entrance/exits onto the cyclepath at Emersons Green, Staple Hill and Fishponds.  I spoke to a few people who regularly walk along the path and they will keep an eye out for this elderly gent.  The key is to keep postering so everyone has Blue's image in their mind. They need to be put up spiralling outwards of where Blue was last seen.  I will be able to get some more posters up at the end of this week.  Please try and keep the owner positive. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sadly the old black lab doesn't sound like blue,as he bolted away very fast (blue is very slow & limps & the person who saw it said she didn't think it had any white on it,
But i really hope that it is simon, who has been missing for such a long time.
Bear im  so sorry that i cant get blues owner to do a stake out but he has gone into such a big low & is hardly motivated to poster for blue now ;( as he feels it's not going to work.
( i will keep him up as poss &moving forwards)
However i hope that it is your boy, Simon & that you manage to get him back soon.
we keep our paws crossed for blue also.
thank you redfox for all your help & advice.lets hope they both turn up soon, scallywags!

As there is a sighting of an old looking Black lab in Bristol (see Simon,s page)  magicalbadger is going to get in touch with Bear  Simons owner, I think it best this dog is bumped. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not sure if this has been done already but have you thought of contacting Bristol newspapers - ie Bristol Evening Post, western Daily Press & the local weekly Bristol Observer, I know they were good when Simon Black Lab ( Doglost  ID 18956  STILL MISSING) from Redland Bristol first went missing. Telephone number for them is 0117 9343333, ask if they can run a story on this boy missing ?. Best of luck, hope you have some news soon, we are still keeping eyes open for this lovely boy.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry to hear about your dog disappearing.  Went thru it myself in July, my boy strayed off and it is a terrible feeling.  Get as many posters as you can out there as far and wide as you can.  Schools, shops, bus stops, parks.  Tell the milkman, postman, all the vets in Bristol and Bath, traffic wardens.  Tell everyone you know and get them to tell all their friends.  Email his poster to everyone.  Put him on facebook/twitter.  Don't give up.  So hope you get him back soon.  Will be thinking about you.

Depending on which part of Bristol this boy is missing from ?? it is covered by Bristol Central DW ( They take strays to Bristol central dogs home ) &  the other part being South Glos DW,( they use other holding kennels) but the areas they cover are very close together, but i think the area missing from is covered by Bristol central DW but  maybe worth calling both just to be sure, if not done so already. Tele nos for South Glos DW general enquires is 01454 865886, hope this helps.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Our South Glos dog warden is the BEST!  Any dog that comes into the S Glos dw can be assured that every possible enquiry will be made to find the owners.  Please make sure you ring the Bristol dw every day and also check with the dogs home in person every day.  I have given a poster to my friend who rides along the cycle path very early most mornings.   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately I am back at work for the next 5 days so will not be able to help until Mon. Maybe worth contacting the South Glos DW too as Fishponds is very near to the South Glos border, I know that she is very good and will do her best to help out. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Badger, just another thought you could  email poster or details to  www.dogfriends.co.uk   they are a local rescue ( in Yate, Bristol) that rescue strays and dogs from pounds, they have a missing section on website and all helpers are local to Bristol/Somerset  area, so more eyes looking out for him.. hope you get some good news of this lovely boy soon..Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, Sorry to see this lovely boy is missing. I will keep an eye out for him whilst driving around Bristol over the next couple of days. Maybe worth contacting the dw, the road sweepers and other animal sancturies in Bristol such as Holly Hedge etc just to keep an eye out. I have had a look on several websites to see if there are any matches but nothing as yet. I am in Bristol so If there is anything I can do to help please let me know.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
