Spoke to  owners son Dave earlier today....let him know how desperate the situation has been...although not put on site at time..nearly all the sightings were of Lady panic stricken on busy roads with cars swerving to avoid her....she is one very lucky dog to have survived for so long....Huge thanks to PaulaK who has actioned and informed everyone and organized posters and co ordinated the search along with all others in the area. Made my week to know she is safe...feared the worst...was 1/2 expecting the call to say she had been run over for the last few weeks.....I can sleep soundly now...as I am sure alot of you reading this can also do so. From sad experience on doglost I can say that 50% of dogs on busy A roads do not make it......This girl defied all odds....and everyone who called in with sightings..put posters up should all take a pat on the back...it shows by working together we CAN get results. Will update as and when we hear anything.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lady has been caught and she is fine, she is being well look after and well feed and warm she will be going back to rescue. It dose not matter how she was caught but she is safe and it was done with all the hard work everone put in to find her and the posters did work so if anyone says it is a waste of time to do postings you can tell them that this does bring a lot of dogs home. Be a good girl lady and enjoy your time being spoilt and you are nice and warm and safe now. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi K_Howes all we can say is that the call come in to say she was caught but when one of our helpers went to where she was they got the call to say she had run off, that helper then spent all day looking around for her and she was not able to see her again all she was told is that she was heading down cheam road and it sounded in the direction of the Avenue that is all we know. Keep up the good work with posters she may well now be very afraid and she is going to ground we do know she did take some food and water. And that she did not look to bad and was not limping. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

OMG OMG OMG this is awful, I am so shocked and so upset. Are you sure she was actually caught then Amanda, who saw her  today?? Or was it a hoax??  I dont understand how she was caught around 11am, but went missing again at 6pm and had not been to the vets. Can anyone tell us where she was caught today, and what area of Cheam Road she was seen running down.. it a very long road. If we get more info on what has happened today then we can all continue to help. I am sure many concerned helpers on here are very confused and in the dark over tadays events. Could someone who has all the details PLEASE shed some light so we can all continue to help get Lady home,Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I thought it was strange when I called all the local vets today to try and find where Lady had been taken but none of them had seen her.  Are there any helpers in Sutton who can put some posters up in Gander Green Lane area?   I can do some more postering on Sunday.  Here's hoping we get some positive news from the newspaper advert.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Ladies this is very un lightly this is Lady this a very busy area, and she would be more street wise now, I would suggest that people do not go rushing around the cemetery, one thing this could be a dog know to the area and it may frighten that dog and cause it to get run over if lots are around.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So keep up the posturing very important, we are going to arrange a night vigil very soon we would ask again if any sighting please do call in as all the work being put in will be lost. Hi Ladies thank you all so much for your hard work.  The Missing Ad is going in the local Guardian tomorrow and will be on the announcement page so really hoping we get some calls.  I had a call from a woman this morning who saw Lady on Friday morning in Sandy Lane and I also met a woman in Sandy Lane today who said she also saw her on Friday morning in Sandy Lane between The Avenue and Burdon Lane.  Both women assumed she was with someone.  They said she was going in and out of the gardens sniffing mid morning.  The woman I met thought she looked a lot different from the photo as her ears were down.  I have put posters up in Sandy Lane right down to the Downs and also the entrances off Sandy Lane to West Dr, Glebe Rd, Warren Ave, High View and Golf Side.  I also covered Northey Ave from Sandy Lane to Cheam Road roundabout.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, have just e mailed posters to Freane and Smyth in North Cheam and Parkside Vets in Sutton who are going to display one and also spoke with Wingrave in South Sutton who already have a poster, but she also mentioned a lady had called in last week to say that Lady was in her garden but called again as she had since disappeared. This was last Thursday off Mulgrave Road. No doubt this was one of the sightings mentioned previously. She is obvioulsy travelling around quite a bit. I shall take a drive around Mulgrave and all the roads off it (long long road) later today.  I can hopefully use my printer later when the part arrives and get some posters up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I shall have another wander around the area later to see if i spot anything.  I am presuming all the local vets etc know of her as if she has been clipped by a car or is found perhaps someone has taken her in.  As you say the chip might have moved and they are not aware she is missing.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was thinking as anyone ie the owner or anyone helping the owner been in touch with the RSPCA Godstone I have try to ring but they say they are closed, it would be advisable for the owner or someone helping owner to get in touch with them or even go down to see if Lady has been taken there because we all know the trouble with Chips they can move or sometimes not scanned. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Julia you have done a good job, as for the collier that could have come off when she first went missing someone could have made a grab for her and she pulled away. So this is not such a worry well done passing the posters to other dog walkers this all helps.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I have been out this afternoon and placed posters around the area between the A217 and B2230 Brighton Rd (York Rd, Holland Av, Avenue Rd, Queens Rd etc.) plus down on the A217 at the entrances to the Downs and the golf course. I have also passed posters onto some Banstead dog walkers who will do the Downs between the prison and A217 and the woods off Sutton Lane. They will obviously talk to others and pass the word around.  No sightings whilst I was out and I understand that the owner got a call to say the collar had been found today but near Non Such Park, so presumably from a week ago??Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Lily-p yes good idea to have poster on the lights that is if the council don't take them down, we cannot hope the council workers will spot or even report Lady if they see her some will some will not but, I understand about the stopping a long that road it is so fast. She will show this is not unusual for a dog to go to ground like this and then all of a sudden re appears.   This as happend so many times I have done this looking for a dog.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Ladies, just got back from a good old mooch around all the side roads, Arundel, Salisbury, Burdon etc but didnt see anything.  Also had a drive up and down the A217 twice.  There are some council guys making their way down from the main traffic lights towards Tesco picking up rubbish from bushes etc so if something has happened to Lady they will spot her.  Also another three council guys cutting the trees along the A217 from the Banstead traffic lights downwards. Couldnt stop as on the dual carriageway to speak to the guys but there are plenty of posters around if they need to call.  Also was thinking as I sat at the lights perhaps a poster actually on the traffic light poles.  Didnt see any as I sat there unless they have been taken down.  Obviously bin day today, so might be worth (unless Lady is home by next week) to wander around next Monday evening.  xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi All still no sign of Lady, we was going to ask all the people who are helping with the posturing could you all try to look under hedges along the A217 ok this is not a nice thought but she could have got knock down and is laying anywhere along that edge of the road also any waste ground and parks under all the hedges. Anyone living in and around the area also ask neighbours to look in garden shed garages just in case she has got lock in and anyone you may know who may have gone away to ask the neighbours to listen out for any barks coming from sheds ect. Thank you Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lovely offer Lily. We still dont want anyone to frighten Lady so if you do see her keep well away and just note the place and time and the direction she was heading. Postering further afield from the immediate area would be a great help, the more posters the more chance we have of another sighting being called in. ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

HI there I am just printing posters and have just been out to get a laminator. Just wondering whether we ought to update poster to indicate Belmont/A217 area? I am working all day Monday but can get posters in and around Banstead via my in-laws. On Tuesday I am happy to drive around and try and poster where necessary. Maybe we will have had a sighting by then? What about posters in supermarkets etc.? I agree the more the better. I think the newspaper is also a great idea; I know of at least 2 dogs who have been reunited that way. Come on Lady, show yourself.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Everyone keep up the good work with the posters, ok it has been two weeks now but believe me that is not a long time for a dog to be missing and brought back. Lady now is in survival mode she has learnt to survive. You may not see Lady during the day much now as she would have learnt not to be out in day light. Lady is being left food and I believe she is taking that also water. The area where the food is being place is being monitored, even now as I type. I ask all that have Paulak phone number please let her know if you spot her because someone can be at the place very quick. Do not approach her as all the work we are putting in will be lost. It may take a while longer to get her so stick with it, and refresh and poster like mad.     Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Amanda...... concentrate on the Belmont area.  Lots of dog walkers on the downs.....contact the Golf Club.  There is a train line going through this area, but lots of cover to make a den.  Try putting a poster in the pet shop in Belmont village....... post it through the letter box ....saturate the area with as many posters as possible.  Posters work!!!! .  Sutton and Banstead need to be covered just incase she has headed that way.  Do not give up!! Thank you so much for the info on the latest sighting.  Is anyone able to help to put posters up on the other side of the A217I had already put a poster at the junction of Mulgrave & Beresford on Thursday and a couple in the side roads. Any help/drive arounds and asking passers by for any sightings would be so appreciated.  It’s been 2 weeks now and I don’t want to give up just yet.  The area can be seen on http://maps.google.co.uk/ and search Belmont Rise SM2.  Thank you all again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is to confirm Lady was  seen between Beresford Rd & Cornwall Rd, on the opposite side to Burdon Lane.  She had obviously crossed the A217..... running towards the traffic lights Northey Ave/Dorset Rd junction.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If Lady was heading away from Cheam, Belmont Rise runs parallel with Burdon Lane with several cut throughs to Burdon Lane.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Do we know which direction Lady was heading on the A217?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think it would be a good idea if you notify local papers eg Guardian ( Sutton & Ewell) and The Post, which will taget local areas, allowing for more exposure.
Also to put posters up at local railway stations, for increased exposure to local residents.

I have put a poster at North Cheam lights and a member of the public has just told me she saw Lady on thurs early afternoon.  She was on the A217 Belmont Rise trotting on the pavement heading away from Cheam.  The whole area needs posters, sorry I am unable to help this afternoon as I am at work.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I put about 16 posters up tonight on Northey Avenue (between Burdon Lane and Shirley Avenue only) I also covered both sections of Shirley Avenue and Wray Road.  There haven't been any sightings at all today.  Can't stop thinking about her, I hope she's still ok.  Thank you all so much for your support.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My mum and I had a drive around cheam area tonight  and last night for an hour, but no luck. We also look everyday when we walk the dogs over the park. We reported on here when we spotted her running down Arundel Avenue, Ewell last Wed. We are free to help anyway we can. (p.s: when sightings are reported could posters please insert the time in their posts). So pleased she is still in the local area.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

After all the calls I had yesterday, my phone hasn't rung at all today which makes me very sad.  I have contacted Sutton Council who haven't got an animal warden at the moment but have taken my details.  They are using a Company called SDK to take in found animals who now also have the details.  I have sent a poster to Sutton Police Station too!  My friend's sister who used to microchip for the RSPCA said she would make contact with someone she knows at the local RSPCA.  I have also emailed posters to the Golf Courses that are at the end of Burdon Lane/Belmont Rise.  I will do the same with the local vets when I get a chance.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

spent 2 hours this evening driving around The Avenue and all other roads near Cheam Park, talking to local dogwalkers, ended up walking around the rec until it was dark - no sighting but lots of posters (well done Amanda!!). Going back to Nonsuch Park tomorrow morning to walk my dogs for a couple of hours, here's hoping !!  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just got back after hours walking the streets around sightings and nothing. Lots of posters up (well done Amanda) and many people aware and looking out. Loads of big houses and big gardens around there. Bumped into several carloads of people out looking for Lady and also new owners son. Went back to the area of Nonsuch park where she was hanging out a few days ago and spoke to lots of dog walkers. One of the people who saw Lady today met me and showed me round and is waiting for the call to say another sighting and she will be back out on the trail.Anyone who gets chance to walk around Nonsuch Park, Cheam Park or roads around The Avenue, Cheam please keep your eyes peeled.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I meant to add that I think she has lost her black collar now.  She is absolutely exhausted and I really don't think she has much energy left.  As long as she stays away from the main road, A217 which is too close to where she is, someone may catch her or at least be able to feed her so that a trap can be left.  I have updated the poster to say for her not to be approached so she can remain in one place.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have been driving around Burdon Ave/Manor Road/The Avenue in Cheam for 3 hours and when I returned home I received a call to say she was laying on a man's lawn at the junction of Manor Rd/Burdon Ave.  I drove back with food but she ran past me.  Drove around again, came home and received another call to say she has been seen in The Avenue.  Have sent Jan an updated poster and have now also spoken to Christine at VIGIL GSD Rescue in Ewell 07841 054204.  She will also put posters up and will drive up there. Thank you all for your help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good to talk to you Amanda. Keep up the good work. Lady has now been seen 2 days running in the same area of the park so food is being put down to try to keep her close. I received a call this morn to say Lady had been seen in Non Such Park but up by Cheam Fields Recreation Ground. This the entrance closest to Non Such Hotel, as you're looking toward the mansion, the woods on the left hand side, but a few hundred yards down.  Thankfully we were closeby and went into the woods and actually saw her laying in the undergrowth.  She was very well camouflaged. I didn't approach but even so she walked away into the undergrowth and I lost her again.  I then received another call to say she ran into the gardens at the mansion.  I'm beginning to feel very despondent as I just don't know how we are going to catch her.  At least I think the park is her base even though she wanders in and out.I will keep you all updated.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry not to be able to help for the time being, although this is near me I'm away from home most of this week and weekend.  I did manage to walk in Nonsuch Park this morning, went right round the edges where the houses are, up to the school and across the middle. Spoke to loads of people about Lady. The only poster I saw was in the car park and  I'm not able to print any at the moment.  I think the mansion has a cafe in it do they know ?  It is a real dog lovers paradise in that park and if owner could hand out posters or put under wipers on cars in the various car parks I'm sure people would be pleased to help.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you all for your help and concern and thank you Jan for the posters. I will be putting more up this morning.  She has been sighted outside of the park near several entrances, from Non Such estate (Arundel Ave) to the entrance near Non Such Girls and near Cheam Fields but makes her way back into the park when approached.  I have received many calls but by the time I get to the location she has already moved on.  She is very, very nervous and may be in pain now with her leg.  She has refused tit bits that are thrown her way so far. She belongs to my neighbour who is distraught. We are all very worried about her, its been 6 days now. I will keep you all updated.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Got posters thanks Jan. I went over there last night for a few hours until it was too dark and saw lots of dog walkers but no Lady. I would imagine it was way to busy over there for her to show her face as she is obviously very frightened. There are 2 pathways from Arundel Avenue through to Nonsuch Park and I walked both of them. Plenty of places for her to hide - I had no idea how big the park was. I wont be able to get over there again until middle of next week earliest so if anyone can print posters and walk the park and the surrounding area that would be great. The only poster I saw up was in the carpark - we need loads moreLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
