this is just so sad,,and was my worst nightmare not long ago.. hopefully the people who loved this little dog do find out what happened to it,, run free with my Alfie little one x

This poor dog could not be retrieved I?m so sorry. The staffy was seen floating in the turnabout in Wisbech river Nene.  Chunk?s poor owner followed it for about 5 miles or so to Sutton Bridge where it would then go out to sea.  He could not reach it without putting his own life in danger as the currents are so fast flowing there.   I will make sure the council are aware tomorrow. Run free at the bridge poor little one. x

Thanks girls, but no this poor little thing is thankfully not Chunk, but thank you for being on the ball. Chunks owner was alerted to go and look I'm afraid. Poor man.

Poor little dog - so sad and an awful way to go.  Is there anyway this dog could have been a young mastiff as there is a young tan one gone missing in the same area ? Julie x

Sadly a dog  dead in the river Nene.  A poor tan Staffy, wearing a black and silver collar. Gender not known. Police were told but not interested. Local kennels have been told, who I would presume have told the council. Am trying to find more details.  Fenland District Council  01354 654321 or e-mail on environmentalservicerequests@fenland.gov.uk
