J Lo has now been recovered, and is re-united with her owner. It was by sheer luck, that she was seen. Two neighbours,my son and her owner were in the car leaving my home to go out further afield to hand out more posters and search, etc, when the one neighbour in the car spotted something going into her driveway and into the garden. Car was stopped, everyone dived out of the car,and her owner picked her up in the garden. She did not run away this time,so must have recognised her at long last. Owner in tears ,but J Lo quite happy with herself :) She is fine as far as I can see. Had to shave her body and legs off as they were matted and full of sharp sticks, etc, but no injuries as far as I could see. She has had a quick bath and dry and is on her way to my vet as I am posting this, to be checked out. She ate franfurters for her owner and has helped herself to water out of the bowl. A little thinner than when she went off on her adventures, but very happy to be with her mum again :) I want to say  A HUGE THANK YOU TO DOGLOST  especially Pam who took the time to come into the area to help with the searching. Thank you to everyone else as well, for all the support and help in searching for her. Words cannot say how grateful we all are. Another dog can be added to the DOGLOST list of happy endings :) Michelle xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

J-Lo has led quite a merry dance today ! After the sightings of her being seen running into a recreation ground this morning which Seeker has already posted she was seen around 3pm running across fields a short distance away from the recreation field, just as were arriving with the trap. She disappeared into the distance towards a large stables but within a short while a call came in to say she had been running along the middle of a narrow road in the traffic some way the other side of the stables  and then into a field where a small boy was trying to catch her. By the time we got there she had vanished but not long after  she was seen by a lady from the stables back down at the side of the horse paddocks. From here she vanished into a small wood which she probably used to cut across to another field. Then as dusk was falling two people who were helping us spotted her back in the recreation ground she had been seen in earlier in the day ! This girl certainly seems to be getting to know her way round using footpaths and the edge of fields and can zip from one area to another very quickly ! She can also get through the smallest of gaps .........I have seen where she escaped from the garden and would never have believed a dog could get through such a tiny gap !!! Hopefully  when all the sightings and times of sightings have been plotted we may get some clue as to where she is sleeping .This is so stressfull for everyone who wants this girl back home safe and sound. Come on J - Lo its time to go home ! x Pam Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm glad you got a trap locally - much better than coming all the way over here for one - but at least now you know we have one (well, several actually) so if you need to borrow one in future, just ask.
Hope this little madam is caught soon!!!

She was sighted approx 30 minutes ago, running across the road, into a playing field and into Bushy Hill, which is the wooded area Pam looked through when she was up looking around. Her owner is already up there now in Bushy Hill itself,to see if she can locate her anywhere,or to see if she can find a place that she is hiding in. I will be going up into the fields shortly with binoculars to see if I can spot her anywhere out in the fields. Gentleman reported it to a neighbour, saying that a little brown poodle had just run across the road and into the playing area. A neighour drove down to us to let us know. Gentleman decsribed her as a little brown poodle. Easy mistake to make because of her actual colouring.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

here have been no positive sightings of J-Lo today and none of the food left out had been eaten overnight. This evening we have  collected a cat trap which has been very kindly lent to us by our local Cats Protection and will be taking it over to use tomorrow. It remains to be seen if it is large enough for J-Lo to enter but at this stage it is a much better option to the larger dog trap we would have had to use otherwise. Thankyou Sarah for the kind offer of a trap but the one  we have borrowed  was much closer to home x PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I saw the message about the cat cage a few minutes ago. My hubby has had to return to work yesterday afternoon,so I am now without a car to use,as he works away from home. No more sightings throughout the night, but the tractors are back out in the fields this morning,so she might be keeping out of the way. Michelle xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We're at a bit of a distance, but we have a cat trap we could loan you as long as someone can collect it.  Haworth Cat Rescue - 01535 647184 (open 12-4).  Alternatively, look on www.catchat.org to see if you can locate a cat rescue a bit nearer who may be able to help.

There was a SIGHTING of this girl late this afternoon in the area around the farm she was seen in yesterday. she was seen sniffing around some haybales where some scenting had been done . her bedding along with some food and water has been left in this area. Thankfully the farmers wife  is very helpful and offering full  support. we need to set up a trap here but in view of Jaylos size the traps we have available are far too large and it looks like we  need to locate  a cat trap.  The area she is hiding in is very easy for a small dog to sneak around in with very few people lileky to see her. Lots of fields to cut across and hedgerows  and wooded areas to hide in. x Pam  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There have been no more definite sightings of this girl since yesterday although there was a glimpse  of something small and black running along the hedgerows which MAY have been her. If we get some more sightings which show she is still in the same area she was sighted in yesterday we can look at the option of placing trap. We are going over shortly to walk the area she was sighted in.x PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

23.00 p.m.  Seeker thanks for registering on DL and updating us.  It is important that no-one tries to catch her as it may frighten her away from the area, if seen it is best to try and ignore her and sit on the ground with no eye contact.  It is common for loose dogs to not respond to their owner but as soon as they realise who it is it is a different story.  I will email you some advice and also SCENTING Instructions for her owner.  Good luck.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

J Lo has been sighted by us three times in total today. She is definitely in the farm fields in the Lofthouse area. First sighting by owner in the fields, but disappeared into the rough. Tracker dog (bloodhound) came down  two hrs later to help out and to see if she could be tracked. Was not only tracked, but was seen and ahead of the tracker dog and handler all over the different fields. Got too dark in the end,to continue tracking her. Third sighting was at one of the farmhouses ,where she was sitting under a table outside the house itself. She ran away from the house when the owners tried to coax her to them with some biscuits. The owner of J Lo is out there again with another helper right now with torches,to see if she can hear her crying or find her close to where she was last seen. She has taken pilchards in tomato sauce with her,and will now stay out in the fields for a few hrs. Will be back out at sunrise again.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Furlover I have sent you an email.  Mobile number added to details.  J Lo is about 9 1/2 inches tall, she is very timid and not used to strangers, she will be very frightened and does not know the area she has gone missing in.  Fingers crossed J Lo is found soon, good luck.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A photo of Jaylo should be arriving shortly. This tiny girl is lost in a rural area, in many acres of farmland. If anyone is able to help with the search, please make contact.
