- Below is a copy of letter I sent to 'The News' in Portsmouth. Please, if you have the time, write to The News editor, mark.waldron@thenews.co.uk, with a copy to me, here, and lucy.varney@thenews.co.uk showing support for my plea and ask him to publish my Open Letter, below.
I'll be eternally grateful.
Lily
Dear Readers
I would like to thank The News for having published two great articles about Rocky, my 12 year old dog that went missing from my very own garden, back in September. I am extremely grateful to all The News readers who have been so kind in sending messages of support, good wishes and helpful suggestions.
On Saturday 4/12/09 the second article was published in The News. The very next day I received a message from Portsmouth Central Police Station advising me that someone wanted to hand in a lost dog that seemed to match Rocky's description. They suggested the dog be taken to the council warden. The dog warden hasn't received any Staffordshire type dog over these last couple of days. I am extremely concerned for Rocky's well being. He was ONLY HAPPY IN HIS OWN HOME, pined to be with me if he had to stay with friends and I know he is broken hearted as I am that he is not in HIS HOME. I am making another appeal, to whom ever has Rocky, to please hand him in to the dog warden, their telephone number is: 02392870337, have pen and paper ready just in case. Bring him home for Christmas.
There is a cash reward to whomever hands him in. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18 - 2009-12-09 12:47 Lily
- Following from my previous entry. I've been to the police to ask them to let me see their CCTV and identify if it is Rocky but begative answer. Any ideas/suggestions out there?

- Hi, Was having some difficulties adding comments, but none now. We had another article about Rocky in The News, local newspaper in Portsmouth (you can view it on line) on Saturday. Then, as before, had some very nice people texting in support. Then on Sunday we received a call from the police stn to say that someone had walked in there with a dog matching my Rocky's description and they told this person to take it to dog warden, The Ark (RSPCA) or Harbour Vet. We called the three of them yesterday and today but no one has handed a dog with those characteristics. The PCW only saw the poster of Rocky, in their station afterwards. The words upset and frustration come to mind. They don't take any information from people taking lost pets. However, will ask them if they would let me see their CCTV material of the dog that the person brought in. Thank you for all the work you do, with all my heart.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Just spoken to Rockys owner - she is doing everything possible to find her boy - she's sure he has been picked up and possibly moved on. 100's of posters out there now and loads of people aware he is still missing. Will keep in contact with her - fingers crossed for them allLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thank you so much for the message about Turbo. I am Lily's daughter, I have looked - unfortunately he doesn't look like very much like Rocky although he sounds very much like him. Rocky does have a distinctive bark and adores being cuddled. Lily will call tomorrow to speak with the carers. Thank you once again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- There is a black and tan staff on St Giles Kennel website - name of Turbo on page 3 - it says he is 5 but looks older - has more grey than the photo of Rocky, I think. Says he has a distinctive bark. Link is

- Thanks shereen ! I think your dog looks younger, and its hard to match the markings as our pic of Rocky is not good, so have sent the link to Rocky's owner to check out. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Better quality main photo added. A better photo added to second window. REWARD added and, a second mobile number, and more details. Family are desperate to get this elderly boy home. He is incontinent due to age, is going deaf and blind, and trembles, poor boy. He needs to be home. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Have just spoken to Rocky's owner. Rocky is still missing with no sightings at all. Posters & flyers have been put up etc as well as all DWs informed. I will be sending some help & advice sheets .Rocky is out there somewhere, perhaps with someone who has not informed anybody that they have found a dog. It's now just a matter of someone spotting him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
